Because they were the hugest and best paid live band in Europe at the time. And the Beatles, Hendrix Clapton, Rolling Stones and all others were still at high school / military or so. Even George Harrison remembered seeing Andy Thielman playing in Berlin at the time.

Never forget that it took over 60 years for Ritchie Valens to be put in the Hall of fame when he should have been in there since the 80s. No wonder the Sex Pistols hates that place so much!

I'm always surprised when there is an unknown act out of the pass for what every reason they are only known by a few but their talent goes beyond some geographical boundary. The Teilman Brothers certainly fit that category. Just want to add this aside, Professor of Rock did a video on Redbone which was just fascinating. the brothers that formed Redbone came from the 50's and transformed into Redbone. What a journey.

The Tielman Brothers dipercaya lebih dulu memperkenalkan musik beraliran rock sebelum The Beatles.
The Tielman Brothers pernah tampil di Istana Negara Jakarta dihadapan Presiden Soekarno.

The original title is Ochri Chernye which means Dark Eyes......
There are also many versions, but I prefer this one because it's rhythmical translation suits the song the best.
Oh you dark black eyes, full-of-passion-eyes
Oh you burning eyes, how you hypnotise
Now I love you so, but I fear you though
Since you glanced at me not so long ago.
Oh I see you now, you are dark and deep
I see grief and feel that my soul will weep
I see now in you a winning burning glow
in my poor heart will a fire grow.
      I’ m not sorrowful, I’m not repenting
I accept all that my fate’s presenting
All the best in life, God has given us-
this I sacrifice, to you dark black eyes.
