Very nice man. I had no idea about the rules between novice and intermediate. Only really played with SC when using Sheena. Then thought SC was canned in the PS2 version XP. Anyway I agree with TraitorOfLight. There is definitely some change. Don't give up.
Informative. Certainly clears up any remaining questions I had regarding spell-canceling. I've only been able to do it sparingly with Estelle in the 360 version, so I'll need to work on my trigger finger more. Do other games in the series follow these rules (Vesperia, Innocence R)?
Excuse me, dagoldenclip. May I ask you for help? I've been working on spell-cancelling all this weekend. I have no problem at all with normal attacks - i.e Attack + Attack + Attack + SC + One more time-, but when it comes to SC a level 2 arte - either Hurricane Thrust, Light Spear, Double Demon Fang...- I'm utterly useless. I've lost account how many times I've tried. Could it be that you need to have a particularly number of uses in that second arte? I mean, I already have 999 with First Aid, but with those second artes I nearly have 50. Thank you so much.
Some artes require good timing skills to follow-up with. If you're trying to maintain a combo then a tech like hurricane thrust can connect multiple times. Double demon fang not so much. You could still use techs like that for pressuring. Just practice the timing for the arte itself.
I really enjoy playing this game, I have the GameCube version, if I wanted to get the PS2 version could I play it through in English? Because I couldn't figure out what all those orders you were doing meant in the strat menu
r2 and r1 are the same as up and down on the c-stick for gamecube. There is a ps2 release in english for this game ,but if you are doing this just to spell cancel you are better of with the gc version. You do it on gc from the very beginning of the game where as on every other version of the game you have to use the spell 999 times before.
I'll try, if you use a level 1 tech, you can only spell cancel with a level 2 spell, if you use a level 2 tech, you can only cancel with a level one spell, and if you use a level three, you can cancel with a level 1 or 2 spell, (for Kratos and Zelos), when he says the spell has to be maxed out, he means you have to have used it 999 times for it to work, I hope that helps, and I'm trying to get this concept too
A much more solid description of what Spell Canceling is and how to use it.
Almost every other answer is "SLB+FA, repeat"
I'm loving these guides man. It's great learning about a game that you love. Thanks for posting!

Thank you! It'll certainly help me when I play them.
The more you know time to lab
Dat non-spoonfeeding tutorial. Strong.
Once again , thank you very much! :D

***** Nope, it wasn't a matter of timing. SC doesn't work with EX Skill Guard Plus (level 3). But thank you so much anyway. :)

@@Lordratatosk1 I know its really late but how can i get the english ps2?
@@sorrow5413 i believe they meant Ps3/Steam release.
@@chiefbeef3587 it's a bit late but ok
I still cannot combo correctly.
I can use lightning blade, superlightning blade, demon spear but I can't seem to use inf combo.
Further question:
Do Collette's Angel Skills function the same way? So most attacks can be cancelled via Angel Feathers?
I'm confused with this method. Can anyone simplify it for me?
