Chicken gizzards work better mainly because they actually stay on the hook just get some liver use the liver as chum put the gizzards in the tub of blood and you’ll have a stringer full of fish in no time

This is a recipe I swear by. Take a hotdog, the shittier brand the better. Get you some red kool aid, some garlic powder and a freezer bag. Empty the hotdogs into the freezer bag, juice and all. Then mix in some of that red kool aid and your garlic powder and maybe even some salt too. Catfish are attracted to sweet and savory/salty smells and they LOVE that stuff. I always have great luck with it
I jug fish a lot and have always had great luck with Bar S brand hotdogs on a #5 circle hook. I'll swear by it. I caught channels anywhere from little fiddler size up to 12 pounds. I dont do anything with the hotdog except cut it about 3/4" long and hook it. I might give that recipe a try though and see how well it works. Always interested in catching more fish😉
They make good flathead bait but they're fucking vicious they bite so hard. I stick my hands in flathead and blue cat mouths all day but never a bullhead.
No! Stop! Find a large river, or pond catch a small bluegill,hook the bluegill, find brush pile cast and wait for a big catfish to bite. Unless your going for smallies
Depending what type of catfish are on your waters the bait is varied and live bait out at least fresh cut will be needed, but if you don't want to catch your first catfish at all feel free to use hot dogs as they catch bullheads like those here easily!
Some people say the flathead taste the best, I only tried channel cats, I never caught flathead or blue cats,the bullheads are easy to catch and are small ,but they are fun to catch

Don’t let the shrimp rot like that. It actually does more damage than good and can kill the fish if it eats it and you release it. Catfish are bottom feeders. That doesn’t mean they like nasty garbage. That means they eat food off the bottom of the body of water they are in. Let the shrimp thaw but not rot. The day you start using Fresh caught baitfish is the day you’ll understand the obsession we have with catfishing.
I used to catch them as a kid we called him bullheads or mud cats because that's a pretty good size one they might get twice that size if it's what I'm thinking about

Catfish is a scavenger fish so they will eat basically anything, chicken skin, hotdogs, worms etc
Never tried hotdogs for catfish but I've had extremely good luck using sardines because They stink and catfish love the smell
