On amazon i found this REALLY thin nylon thread (similar to magic thread but way better) and i use it to secure fragile bait to my hooks. I have never lost bait
I like to mush them into a mesh of some sort and then add the stuff in this video including jello powder to make it more tough. This doubles as a chum and a bait
Just look up zote soap best bait for cat fish cajun friend of mine showed me it and thats all he uses for his limb lines and by time he gets fone setting out 30-60 lines the forst ,10 already have fish on them kn average and cat fish love it and you dont smell bad from fish bait and stink bait and cheap and easy to use
One of the greatest baits of all time for any fish are slices of crab meat covered in garlic powder. Fish love the taste of crab meat and the smell of garlic is addictive to them. I hope you use my tip and catch the biggest fish you have ever seen!!!
You can use any combination of those. And I took this batch out a couple times and caught maybe 10 on it total. Not too bad. It was also in a spot where other baits likely wouldn’t have done much better.
@@Wadeboutdoors I personally think the jello or kool aid and garlic is not even necessary. I just use plain hotdogs and it has more than enough scent to get bites from them things.
I feel like the hotdogs and koolaid is cheaper. And chicken livers can work good as long as you string them to keep them on. In my area they don’t work very good because of gar and turtles.
@@Wadeboutdoorsgizzards are even cheaper and tough as fuck they won't come off caught multiple cats on one chunk of gizzard back to back.can season them the same way too
@sirlukesalot4994 gizzards are better than livers for toughness, that’s for sure. I don’t know that they’re cheaper than hotdogs. Can get hotdogs for dollar still some places.
You should use cherry instead it’s apparently better and I’ve seen others put cherry jello with some oil for it to stick better and for the hook problem you should use a clip with a trouble hook take off the hook and from the top push in the hotdog skin down and re attach the hook
@@Wadeboutdoors I was watching someone else he did a test over 200 times to see if fresh bait vs the hotdogs cherry kool aid with strawberry jello and garlic powder he said it was a 75% chance of catching something with the hotdogs he also did it with liver and breast of a chicken which I think worked better
@@emeraldfox7175 As a kid we actually did the opposite and froze them. We cut them up, froze them, and kept them in a cooler with ice packs until we were ready to bait the hooks. We didn't do anything with garlic powder or gatorade. Just little frozen hotdog chunks and we caught plenty of catfish. Compared to the video even our biggest hotdog chunks were at most about half the size. Oftentimes we'd use even smaller pieces. This was in residential lakes in Florida (neighborhood lakes, golf courses, and occassionally canals). We mostly caught catfish and cichlids.
Catfish like sweet pungent smelling stuff hot dogs and garlic provide pungent smell while the Kool aid or jello powder produces the sweet aroma from what I know though catfish rely on their site something we never really knew I now have a bluegill stinger fly hanging out just underneath my main rig.
@@CadinKessler just saying carp as well like pungent and sweet I'm catching a ton from corn meal flour garlic powder and strawberry jello biggest being 20 pounds
@Mushroom.Madness. dont do that 😂 Big benefit to this method is it stays good for months. If you want something smelly or just for a day, go with live minnows/shad or livers
I’m not sure. I’ve never tried it. I’m sure you could as long as you gave it time to dry and cure. However, I’m not sure it would work nearly as good. I feel like it would wash off easily.
@WadeBOutdoors it probably would wash off. However, if it does, I would still have the garlic on the hotdogs. Whenever it dried, the hotdogs toughened up and become hard. I will try it this evening and tell you if it works.
I mixed in a shot of whiskey and this catfish with overalls jumped out of the water with a banjo.
Seems legit 🤣😅
Lmao!
Damn 🤣🤣🤣🤣
hillbilly catfish
As a catfish I can confirm this slaps
🤣🤣 thanks
😂😂
Same
😂 😂😂😂
Same finally a fellow catfish
I started using jello powder. It makes the hot dogs a little tougher and rubbery. They never come off the hook
There ya go! Keep in the fridge after mixing it I assume?
@@Wadeboutdoors always do. The beauty over chicken is it has 2 things that last for months refrigerated.
That’s for sure true! And doesn’t smell like rot!
Or use sausage
@johnlacenere4525 did you use a full box of jello powder? And how long did you refrigerate for? Thanks.
Works every time been doing this since I was a kid
Been usin this for cats since i could fish 😂
It definitely can work.
I used the same recipe sept I used banana strawberry jello works great
Awesome! Haven’t tried with banana but I could see it working well.
that looks good
This is a good idea, I need to try this

That works really well with livers and hotdogs. Baits that tear easily. It’s a good idea.
i have used dental floss for keeping chicken liver on. actually worked.
@noahpickering4596 there ya go! I’m sure it would work great for this as well.

Sounds like it would work pretty well.
@@Wadeboutdoors it does
That's it, you're not going to show how well it worked.
It works. Sorry I didn’t video it. I will have to in the future.
I think it's just the hot dog they want but the extra stuff lures them in nice thinking
Yes for sure. The koolaid is just a scent to put in the water to help them find it.
Scent . The garlic and stuf is for the smell
You guys call it a hot dog...did you see which part of the dog you got? 😂😂😂
I think that one was the rear part of a German shepherd.

I’ll have to check it out. Thank you
I used expired spicy hotdogs and they worked a charm and I caught a channel catfish and a northern pike surprisingly and a ton of bluegill
That’s awesome. I never thought about something like pike biting on them.

I’m sure it works. How does crab meat hold up on a hook? I’ve used shrimp and garlic and it works great too.
Seems super expensive bait. Could you use imitation crab?
I would agree.
Use beef jerky instead with the jello or koolaid garlic mince
Sounds crazy. lol.
Jello will make the hot dogs firmer and stay on better
Yes. I know people that use that as well.
Going fishing with my buddy thanks for helping
Awesome! Good luck!
Use a snap swivel with a treble hook , slide your your through the middle and attach it back to the swivel
Your your what lol
@@FrameRothook, I think that’s what he meant
You have to get the good hot dogs with thick skin so they don’t fall off
That would help for sure.
Or use vinegar
Never heard of garlic salt. Powder yes. And always red never grape. How’d you do?

Yes you can. You’ll see a little difference in how well each works but it can work also.

Yes it does
Pretty expensive these days for hotdogs and kool-aid.
Chicken livers son... chicken livers

Yes. It works!

I think chicken is better. This is just a little quicker to prepare and ease of use.

Either works.
I did this with some cherry and garlic and cinnamon and they were all over it
Heck yeah! Can’t beat that.

Yes it does
My PB kitty was caught on dollar store bacon
I assume cherry would be better because it looks like blood as it seeps away from the hotdog
Not sure if that’s the reason but a lot of people do prefer it.

Do you recommend to let the bait sit outside and get raunchy or set it in the fridge
I know people that do both. Seems it’s a preference deal but no way to say which is more beneficial.
well, don't forget that you've got to put the raunchy dogs on the hook still so... unless you got gloves 😄

The more garlic the better tho trust me and also try shrimp with koolaid and garlic it WORKS
Yes! Shrimp is something I just tried for the first time last year. They do awesome!
I tryed it got nothing
Dang. It definitely can work. Might not have been fish there or biting at that time.

No koolaid just minced garlic and yogurt

I just use a Gernade and put it in a bag toss it bam tons
chicken liver never fails had 24 today in 2 hours

The kool aid just makes it more colorful. Don’t use it. Fish won’t notice it and it just makes a mess

Use a lot more garlic powder. Red koolaid, you can also try adding some onion powder as well.
I didn’t want to overdo it but others have said more is better as well.

Yes they do.
Does it have to be grape kool aid
Nope! A lot of people prefer cherry. But I would say those two are the most common.

Can I use this sweet electrolyte I got to replace the koolaid

let the hot dog lay out in the sun while your fishing and theyll dry up.

So how many packs of kool aid for 2 packs of hot dogs?
I would probably do 4.
I just use worms...
