    Great video. I got a full bag fitting at Silvermere 2years ago ( was in the same fitting bay you were in but with David (Scottish guy). Had a similar experience to yourself. Didn’t feel pressurised into buying and certain brand or clubs. I was even told that the driver I was using at the time (2018 Callaway Rogue) didn’t need replacing as nothing was out performing it. They even said I could pop back another time at no extra charge when the Titleist TSi3 was going to be released so I could try that out.
    Ended up with Titleist TSi3 driver, 3w, 3h.

    I went through the same thing with folks saying, “Have you tried the Vokey wedges? They feel so nice!!” Yes they do, no doubt about that. But I took a 56° and 60° TaylorMade MG TW out for a spin on the real turf practice area and I was blown away by the turf interaction and the feedback sensation from those two clubs. Even though I had always had a strong wedge game, It was incredible how actually dull the Vokey felt in comparison as almost TOO soft. With the consistent control and confidence in directing ball flight/landing attributes I had with these two Tiger Woods designed clubs, they went RIGHT into the bag immediately, lol. Using these along with the 54° TM MG I added to the wedge trio, it’s like throwing darts at the green. It really is amazing how much technology has been thrown into golf clubs to be such that you can go through a fitting and ended up with a combo of manufacturers that’s perfectly tailored to your swing profile. This elevated level of tech has definitely raised the enjoyment experience of the game to a whole new level. Great video my friend!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻

    • @MichaelBlanksonGolf
      @MichaelBlanksonGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a brilliant comment. And I completely across. The key bit you mentioned was ‘turf interaction’ and that’s is really what I think it comes down to. I’m definitely not knocking Vokeys because to many - they are proven, just not for me and my current game.
      Thanks for watching the video and hope you stick around for more of my upcoming vlogs 👊🏾

    • @Far2hip
      @Far2hip ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelBlanksonGolf, totally agree with you there. The Vokey wedges are amazing and for the longest time I wouldn’t hit anything else. They are SO smooth feeling. Tried the Bettanardis and they were smooth as silk too, but they just didn’t offer any extra confidence. But when I was out in the real grass testing every good an crappy lie I could think of, the predictability of those Tiger wedges blew me away. Switched them to my gamers immediately, lol, and my short game has absolutely improved quite a bit, probably from the added confidence over the ball. 😎

    I like how you have moved around brands, I have done the same with Callaway Woods, Ping Hybrids, Mizuno Irons, Ping SW and TM big foot LW and Bridgestone RXS ball. • @MichaelBlanksonGolf
      @MichaelBlanksonGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Stephen. Yeah, it’s also a funny one how many people don’t have mixed golf bags. Not saying it’s bad, but most just like to stick to the brand rather than what’s best for their game. I guess that’s the benefit of a fitting.

    I've always wondered why I ended up with XS steel shafts despite my slower swing speed (am 70, not 40). Now at least some of it makes sense. Anyways, I hit my irons a LOT better with the heavier shafts, which leads to more confidence, that in turn leads to more distance where I am aimed.
    Practice, play, repeat.
    Enjoy your new clubs! Happy birthday and I hope you are still swinging and enjoying golf in 30 years.
    (I have yet to find a hybrid I like - every one of them just looks like an Ugly Stick to me. I carry a 9 wood instead.)

      First things first - A Massive hats off to you for staying in the game. And from your response, you still have the love for it.
      Secondly, the heavier shafts are ideal for you - and the fact you’re getting the distance out of them is another huge plus.
      Thanks so much for watching, I will be uploading the unboxing very soon.
      I have rounds where I have used the new clubs on my TH-cam - feel free to check them out.

      i was in the same boat. one shitty fitter put me in super light shafts saying it would improve my speed (it didnt) only for him to get a sale. then i moved and tried out another fitter, he put me into the nippon 120 stiff and they were amazing. enjoy your heavier shafts though

  • @wallstreetoneil
    @wallstreetoneil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First time watching your channel - enjoyed the fitting. You basically got fit into perfect clubs in my opinion - those Callaway Max Woods were huge sellers this year, P790s are Taylormade's best selling irons by miles, those Ping Glide 4.0 wedges, with the very slightly wider soles and the hydro finish are a perfect choice. The only surprise for me watching was how much better you liked the timing of the TT 105gram shaft over the 120gram - I predicted watching you'd go 120 given your speed but everyone has a weight they like to swing. Great choices - and that Hybrid is money.

    • @MichaelBlanksonGolf
      @MichaelBlanksonGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Paul for checking out the video. They have really been performing well for me since. I had the same understanding that I would need the heavier shaft but in the end, after all those swings, it just kept coming back to the 105’s. Maybe my swing is inconsistent and that’s what’s taken me down the 105 route.
      The hybrid - well, it’s just a ridiculous club. Love it. But I think that comes from the fact I used the burner hybrid for so long that, at address, it’s like looking down memory lane - but with a better shaft and greater tech.
      What clubs are you hitting?
      Thanks again 👊🏾

      Yeah, those glide wedges are just ideal for me. I can’t explain how or why (maybe cos they had a thicker grip to test - in comparison to the vokeys) but I’m happy with the choice.
      I think it’s def one of those you need to try out cos Ping just don’t go as hard with advertising as Titleist - and a fair few people opt against them. Cheaper and IMO - better.

      @MichaelBlanksonGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a brilliant point. And I do actually agree with you. However who is to say your swing doesn’t change in a months time? I think it’s also why a few people avoid fittings due to the fact their golf will game will not be consistent each time.

    Always been a sucker for a good fitting video and the guys at Silvermere seemed to do a really good job, not pushing any particular club or brand. The only thing which might have improved the fitting would be to try different grip sizes to see what effect, if any, that would have.
    As for the actual selection of clubs, every golfer is different but that seems a solid selection - P790s have been great for years

    If you have a fairly consistent swing club fittings are soooo essential. The right shaft is so important. I just had to reshaft all my irons and it’s night and day. I got fitted. Was between the p790s or the cobra forge Tec. P790s were great, but the feel of the cobras won out for me. Also the consistency of distance. The p790s had some fliers that went 10 yards or more beyond where I was expecting them. Cobra had less of that for me. I got heavy shafts too, 125s.
    I get high spin often, so I was fit for all low speed woods. Cobra 3 wood LS and a callaway triple diamond LS. The triple diamond surprised me, but I do decent with it. See shall see if I can keep it

      I will posting the unboxing of the full set next week, with more detail on the clubs.

    Really appreciated seeing your pro fitting, @Michael Blankson, thanks for bringing us inside with you, that was so neat! You and I have done a lot of the same clubs, most notably, the TaylorMade P790s, they sound so nice when you get a good strike, right? Liked and subscribed and would love to collaborate with you!

    • @MichaelBlanksonGolf
      @MichaelBlanksonGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching. I wanted to show as much of an in-depth experience with viewers as I just feel so much of fittings are assumed. The P790s have been amazing - and that’s not just saying it. It has also forced me to change a few things which makes the contact with the club effortless.
      I’m sure most would also agree that the Callaway Rogue driver is just ideal for forgiveness.

    There were a few moments where it looked like he was just trying to sell you the more expensive club. Your first shot with the T200 seemed poor and you said “can I just blame the club” in a joking way and he said you can because you’re swing doesn’t change between swings. If that were that case, you’d never hit a bad shot! That made me a bit frustrated with sort of confirming the stereotype I have for golf club fitters…

    • @MichaelBlanksonGolf
      @MichaelBlanksonGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get your point Trevor. And I can honestly say, before the fitting I had the same misconceptions. But for that club, it just wasn’t clicking. I didn’t share each and every shot with the T200 but as much as I tried, I could get the same feeling as I had with the Taylormade. You have to believe me when I say- I went in there making sure I didn’t get fooled, and in the end I feel that I got what I deserved.
      I was only going to accept spending the amount of money I did there once I got the feeling it was for my best interests.

      Yeah I felt the same when I was hitting them. Still amazing clubs. Don’t get me wrong, at one point I was close to just going for them based on what everyone else has said. In the end, I went for true feel for me. Maybe when my game gets a lot better they will become the wedges I’ll use.

    Sorry for this comment but IMO should have saved £2500 and used it towards lessons. Looks like a case of expensive clubs, cheap swing. No fiiting is going to help the lack of backswing rotation or half swing - all arms and no legs or hips, more a "senior" swing. When your swing improves, the fitted clubs might not even suit your game. What did Jamie do regards loft, lie shaft length etc.? Prove me wrong, what's your current handicap Michael?

    • @MichaelBlanksonGolf
      @MichaelBlanksonGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul, don’t be sorry at all. I didn’t put the video online for everyone to just love it. Not sure if you saw, but my objective is to reduce my handicap from 24 (when I started) to a single digit handicapper WITHOUT any lessons. All via TH-cam. That’s just my mission and what I want to prove to my audience and myself.
      I 100% agree lessons are the way forward, and would recommend that to anyone over spending that type of money on golf clubs.
      Now I play off 15 - and my handicap has reduced due to training (and not just the clubs).
      I hope this makes sense but in summary, this is my journey to be a good/great TH-cam golfer. 🤞🏾
