Authentic, inspiring, useful and practical. I absolutely love that you not only tell us what to do, but show us. And more than that, you show us how to be adaptive and come up with new ideas that work for us as learners teaching ourselves. Your approach feels more like creative play and having fun with a language. I'm definitely up for that!

Thank you so much for your nice comment, it's exactly what I'm trying to do; to be creative and help you guys adapt and find methods that fit every one of you, like I did for me. I really hope that these journals can help you both develop your personality in Norwegian and always find new ways to learn 🌸

thanks Ilys. my suggestion; If our primary goal is speaking, do not try to learn a new word without hearing it. Hear it somewhere first, then it will be easier to learn. This way, it will be easier for you to understand and speak in the future.

Norska är på min lista att studera, men jag lär på mig svenska just nu.
It's similar enough that I still get something out of your norska vlogs, so I figure it won't be too hard to tackle norska after I'm comfortable på svenska.
Basically, you will, at some point, take my money. This is brilliant!

My Norwegian by no means perfect, but understanding Swedish makes understanding Norwegian quite easy. Of course there are a lot differences also, but I think there are much more similarities. Also, like one of the tips in this video, you can kind of guess the unknown words from the context. Danish seems much harder for me to understand.
Also, as a Finn, I find writing in Norwegian perhaps even a little easier. It reminds me more of writing in Finnish because there's a lot less those exotic/a little foreign letters like C's😂, and you write how it sounds. If I heard the word klocka for the first time and I would write it like it was a Finnish word, I would write it "klokka".

good luck with your project! 🎉
But, please keep making the videos principally in Norwegian! i mainly watch your channel to be able to listen to something in Norwegian that is relatively simple but not so much as to bore me like most of what I could easily find... you could apply the same concept of levels to your own videos where you would have moments which are more complex or less complex perhaps... so yeah... i hope it's just this one...
    tusen takk

Just subscribed 🎉. I am subscribing Duolingo and I know I am too inconsistent. I need more methods. This fits the bill perfectly. I was looking for book to learn when I started my journey 1 year ago, but I know how that would go… and they are expensive. This project is so exciting, time will tell how successful, but I am hopeful. ❤❤❤ very hopeful and very excited 😂

Hi, I learnt English a bit the same way as I learnt Norwegian, but it was easier because I also had English at school. Also I lived in Canada for a year, and I learnt a lot there. But it's basically the same tips as the ones I give for Norwegian:)

Hi, it's really nice that you're thinking of subscribing !:) As for to share, the best is to not share the journals with those who haven't payed because then they get my work for free, and it's a shame for me... But it's really nice to share my project with others!
What you could do is to tell them that they have access to a free journal, the summer version is free (it's in the link in my bio on Instagram). So they can try and see if they like it and if they want to consider subscribing to them monthly journals. But yeah, I trust that you will not share all my work, so do what you feel like is best 🌸

@@chadbailey7038 Not necessarily. Norwegian doesn't really have grammatical cases so if you want to learn a language with ones, you can't always "switch the language"

    • @Lexielimey

@Lexielimey yeah i realized that was a dumb moment of mine. You just have to add an extra step, which is basically trying to learn each case ending (only for regular words though, else it'll be too complicated) according to the gender of the noun

    • @norwegianwithilys
      @norwegianwithilys  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Hi:) The reason why I make these videos in English is for other people who are learning different languages to be able to get inspired as well:) It's true that the structures of the languages might be different, but in this video I really give ideas that you can use to learn any language. I am going to stick to teaching how to learn Norwegian because that's what I am motivated to do, but there are many videos out there that explain how to learn other languages as well:) I hope you're going to find what you need 🌸

    • @norwegianwithilys

Yes yes, you can ! I'm just used to using google translate because AI didn't exist when I learnt Norwegian and I haven't gotten used to use it. But of course, it you use ChatGPT it's the same, even better probably. Also, I know that some people ask Chat GPT to explain to them why a sentence is a certain way, and it can be really useful when you learn on your own!:)
