  • This video shows the bottom end assembly of my 2002 turbo engine and then installing the head on the block. Hopefully there's some good tech tips here to help people out. This 2 liter engine is being assembled with forged .020 over pistons, ARP main bearing studs, ARP rod bolts, coated rod bearings, a windage/crank scraper, MLS headgasket, stainless steel valves (39mm exhausts with faces ceramic coated), IE heavy duty rocker arms, heavy duty valvesprings, threaded and capped rocker shafts, ARP head studs, and a few other special modifications to handle boost.

    Don't forget to check out Part 1 (th-cam.com/video/e8pJ6sNRG_g/w-d-xo.html) where I break down the recipe for this build and assemble the head using a real factory service tool!
    And here's part 3 (th-cam.com/video/EJoa_v9ASbA/w-d-xo.html) Where it all comes together for a finished product!

    At 22:40 you are swaping the 2002 pickup to the new oil pump. The housing that you taking off from the new oil pump, does it has the oil pressure relief valve on it? If the answer is no, what is the part on the new housing that it looks like a valve?

    • @10mm
      @10mm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pressure relief valve in M10 oil pumps is the thing on the side with the little tube sticking out. the parts I swapped are just the pickups for sucking oil out of different pans

    Hi,
    Thanks for the video,
    I have a question, in order to re install the timing belt when you put the lower part on TDC , what we should do for the head, is there any marks to align it with TDC?
    Thanks

      Yeah man there's a line in the cam flange that lines up in the center of the oil distribution bar. I think I show it in part 1.

    Thanks for the video!
    I seem to remember IE said you need 2 gaskets if you use a crankshaft oil scraper on both sides of the scraper.
    I mean it's your engine and you do you, just thought you should know.
    Also I have NEVER seen people use safety wire
    and I saw this video a while ago, apparently it was from BMW and how they manufactured the M10.
    But it was on some german channel posting REALLLYYY weird stuff, among which was this video so 😆
    Lemme know if you wanna see it, I'll pm you the link.

    • @10mm
      @10mm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This scraper was made by a different company, I cleranced it with it flush on the block that's why I set it up that way. 1mm clearance everywhere was the target. Safety wire is great stuff I'm a firm believer. Yeah put up that link let's check it out!

      Just don't look at the rest of the videos on this dudes channel, trust me man, I have not seen this kind of weird in a long time.
      Also if you don't speak german, use the yt auto subtitle and auto translate, really good stuff.

    can you tell me how to remove the crankshaft pulley on these m10s thanks

    • @10mm
      @10mm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah man, you need a 3 jaw puller. Preferably one with a lot of surface area on the jaws. Be careful if your pulley is cast. Maybe warm it with a torch just a bit. Slow, smooth, and square. Otherwise you may break off a chunk

    hi, is the torque of 110Nm that you give the cylinder head with the ARP studs and together with cometic correct? With that torque there is no risk of cylinder block breakage?
    regards

    • @10mm
      @10mm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So ARP actually recommends MORE believe it or not. After I built this engine, some guys said that 65 FT LBS is actually sufficient when using studs. Their argument is that you don't want to smash the rocker shaft bores. Definitely do your own research before you decide.
