  • Have you ever been through the receipt book for your project car? I make that mistake in this video and then take it one step farther by figuring out how much more I need to spend for the power I want. Oops...

    Engine: $10k
    1000HP goal parts alone: $40k
    I think imma stick to my VQDE engine and put around 35k to the engine to make 1000hp.

    Check out PFI speed for injectors, they are cheap for flow matched injectors.

    Ive found that the best thing is to sit down a couple weeks and figure out what to look for in parts. What performance metrics, what materials, their failure points and the necessary workarounds etc etc.
    Once you've done your homework, you can shop manufacturer direct from china or Thailand for a fraction of the price. Most of these parts are imported from china and rebranded or designed and sent overbroad for manufacturing. If you know what to looks for , you could save yourself tens of thousands

  • @okanoyuki
    @okanoyuki 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What websites did you search on to find your parts?

    • @2JZAddict
      @2JZAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question. It kinda depends on what I’m looking for honestly. If it’s an OE part I’ll use McGeorge Toyota out of VA. For brand new performance stuff I’ll call Robert at Real St. If it’s something I can get by with going used, Facebook Supra groups and eBay are good bets. Back in the day Supraforums used to be the only place to go but people shifted from the platform so it makes it a little tougher to source the hard to find parts.

      It’s as reliable as you can make it. I haven’t had any issues with the V160 thus far. I’m sure it’ll break at a certain power level just like most things. Geo put down 1300whp on his old QS car and it held fine though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    How much would you say it would cost for 700hp?

    • @2JZAddict
      @2JZAddict  ปีที่แล้ว

      700whp would be a good bit cheaper since you still have the option to use the stock long block. With an appropriately sized turbo, fuel, EMS, and a good FMIC you could make that power easily. The cost number would ultimately depend on what parts you select for the build. If you’re looking to go bare bones, do the work yourself, and buy some things second hand in an effort to get it done as cheaply as possible, you could take a GTE motor and make 700whp for about $10k pretty easily.

    You spot on how we take a year or 2 to build the Supra 😂 Supra tax is crazy done a forged motor etc got a shop to assemble the long block just to eliminate any error with in the long block your looking at around 6k NZD for all the machine work/crack testing etc and assembly then there’s parts on top it’s really not cheap anything with the Supra name. We have very little Supra parts in NZ so most has to be found over seas then we get hit with import tax, the ETS intercooler bought a tear to my eye that one 😂. Keen as to see the fuel upgrade video will come in handy

    Nothing but truth here, I've been collecting parts (includes pretty much everything, built block v160 etc) since about 2012. As long as everything goes well, it'll be making it's maiden voyage this spring :) Finallllyyyy!! I should note, I bought all this on the side before i even owned a supra, I'm on my second supra now, owned it about 2.5 years and it's been apart for at least 2 years now lol. Slow and steady wins the race I guess. EDIT: Also, I feel your pain with altitude, our goals are very much the same, builds are very similar (im using the 7675 gen 2 as well, built 3.0 10:1), down here in Albuquerque @ ~5400ft elevation, I hope to hit about that mark (1050-1100 or so), goal is just to break the mythical quad digit number and then see if i like it lol, I can always size down the turbo if I don't. Either way good luck with your build! Starting to wrench on mine again after the holidays and such.

As far as cams, yeah i'm using GSC S2's as well! I haven't degree'd them yet though. It'd be awesome to make it to the Shift Sector event, I didn't have a goal for the year to get the car completed other than SIV, but maybe having a goal to make it there might light a bigger fire under my butt to get this thing going lol. Either way, I'm sure you know Remi living in Colorado, I've been in contact with him for quite some time now and plan to get involved with the Colorado Supras once mine is up and running!
