sharing my little rhyme. I say this this frequently. It reminds me to be lucky then the good stuff can find me ..... The rhyme goes like this: Lucky I am, lucky me. Good luck sure does hang out with me ... 🦉
It's a good sign of the new year when a bird flies by the window being sure to leave a dropping on the porch as evidence. This year will be good because it started with fourteen deer in the front yard. Both things happened on this January 1st morning. The squirrels and chipmunks also made an appearance. I love them all!
It’s a good sign on New Year’s Day to pick up my paint brushes and work on a creative project. It’s also a good sign to watch your video on New Year’s Day. Thank you, Dear Kate.
Happiest of happy New Year 2025 to you Kate! May you be blessed with an abundance of beauty all about you😊 On New Year’s morning I have learned to look at myself in the mirror, eye to eye and to say aloud that ‘I AM the illuminating Presence in my life”, acknowledging the divine within me and, of course, all of us. ‘I AM’ being one of the most sacred names of God . Namaste 💛
Bernadette, first - thank you so much for that absolutely beautiful blessing. I am taking it right into my heart! Second, your New Year's statement is dazzling in its clarity and truth. I felt that also in my heart as I read your words. I salute your powerful awareness, and I thank you for sharing it with us here.
Its a good sign.... the best sign of all actually ...if you are blessed to come across advice telling you that all of your omens are good ones.... as it is spoken so shall it be.... blessings and love to all.... and thank for being my good omen 💚
Kate, wonderful ideas to start the new year. Today, Jan 1, 2025 is raining where I live which means that I will have a productive vegetable garden this year🍅 So, today I am sitting down and planning out my garden per seasons and the steps I will take to acheive it. Thanks so much for sharing your videos. Happy New Year!
It's a good sign for the new year when a loving relative makes a surprise visit on New Year's Day! We spent some time eating snacks, listening to Christmas music, talking, and laughing out loud. I'd like to think my symbolic actions that will carry through 2025 is laughter and hugs. Happy New Year, Kate! 🎉❤
It’s a good sign for the new year here in Minnesota when the temperature is zero , it encourages me to invite my neighbors for home baked scones, tea and warm conversation . Happy new year dear Kate.

I love that I can start the New Year with a wonderful ramble in the woods. I love that my 70 year young legs can keep walking! I love your inspirational videos and soothing voice!
YES! Your wonderful legs, wonderful heart, wonderful eagerness to love the world - what blessings, all. Thank you, too, for your kind words and for literally "leading" us right into those woods with you!
Compliments of the season Kate! It's a good sign for 2025 that weeded my garden after good rains and many hot and dry months. I also weeded my heart from too much negative energy and thoughts!
Though I normally don't touch my phone the first hours of the day, Jan. 1st I had to ... and what a heartwarming moment to have you first person in my new year ... which will be my perfect year. The Dec. 31st within 3 hours I had the most promissing reactions to two of my projects I - on and off - try to get done for years ... by someone ... they are huge, both need a team and some money - but both are an improvment on a high level each on its field ... one can bring as well financial security to creatives and everyone else joining - a win-win system, as well giving fun + purpos - send me your positiv energy, please, I'll need a lot of that
It’s a good sign to have snow, rain, wind, and sunshine all on a New Year’s morning…This morning I began to teach myself the divination of Runes. Fehi, from the first cycle of Freya, the Goddess of Enchantment, represents portable wealth. May it be a year of emotional and spiritual abundance and the movable wealth that is our ability to create beauty wherever we find ourselves.
Brilliant! I love how you put that: "the moveable wealth that is our ability to create beauty wherever we find ourselves." This IS the real wealth. Thank you for seeing it and framing it so clearly!
Happy New Year 2025 to all. 2024 was a good year. A trip all around Ireland in September (great time to go) was part of it. This channel, Kate, has been a good part of it, Thank you! 💚 🇨🇦
Well, a dark haired man gave me a kiss at midnight so I suppose I should remember he's good luck for me (my children's father). Is black a lucky color in Ireland? I'm thinking of bog cats being good luck. I have a black cat as well so I must be extra lucky huh 😜 Both of them pains in the you know.
Kate, I just finished watching your video and can add to my original comment. The New Year started with love and laughter which will continue every day through the year. Thank you so much for the gifts you bring!
That's a lovely way to bring in the new year, and I'll be right over for a slice and a cuppa! :) Wishing you many beautiful loaves and happy mornings in 2025!
Happy New Year with you as well, Kate! Thank you for what you bring us at this fresh new year. I love the pipers of the hearth. The river. The wind. Lovely oracles.
Thank you Mer Cait, interesting traditions, I especially like the First Footing and how it’s seems the complete opposite of a long held tradition about when a black cat crosses your path! And it’s a good sign on New Year’s Eve, if you get Covid, because all the extra pounds of Christmas indulging will magically disappear in no time! 🤣
Oh my! The rising of the rivers - we've had large scale flooding in Greater Manchester, England on New Year's Day. Praying for them to get their houses, cars & lives back to normality soon.
Dear Kate......first of all..................HAPPY NEW YEAR............................. I,ve been celebrating the nights of fire since 25.dec...........I also draw a rune every day...till to 6.1...............my sign is the spiral that is open at the top so that the energy can fall in..........Blessings and Greetings and thank you for another beautiful video..............Daggy,Kiel,Germany☘☘☘
Happy New Year to you and yours! I’m going to say a good luck sign for the new year is when a fair haired bhean feasa speaks Gaelic to you, you’re going to have a wonderful year. ☘️🥳
I was taught to always hold a glass of something to drink and a plate with something to eat at the stroke of 12. Also a dark headed man bringing fuel for the fire. If it was a red headed woman woe betide. Thanks Kate as always, may your New Year be filled with laughted ❤
Interesting! That food and drink sounds like a way to ensure plenty. May I ask: Who taught you that? Thank you for sharing this with us here and for your good wishes. I’m wishing you the very best of drink and food and the flower of good company, laughter and love!
Hi Kate, On further reflection, thinking about my mother. She was very superstitious about a lot of things. Her Irish blood came from her father and her mother was Welsh. I know her mother was another extraordinary women, not only was she superstitious but had the ability to predict future events. I have a very open mind on those subjects. Tonight is a New moon which reminded me to, " turn over my money in my pockets "😉
Thanks for sharing the ideas. Love hearing your voice and seeing your face - You could be a cousin - your features remind me of my Mother's Tipperary family - all long dead but so many happy memories visiting with them and hearing the stories. I get a little teary when I watch your videos - the older I get the more emotional I get! Thank you and Happy New Year.
I feel that, too. Things move me more and mean more to me the older I get. I'm so grateful to you for your kind words and I'm honored to my boots to remind you of your family. Thank you, a chara!
It's a good sign for the new year when the quinoa dish you baked for a brunch falls onto the floor as you gingerly remove it from the oven. I think that has something to do with welcoming the unexpected!
That’s interesting that a warm winter bodes death but crickets bode a kind of abundance or life because crickets “sing” up to a certain temperature-around 50F I think. A warm interior in winter though is certainly an aspect of abundance.
I know there is a transcription of these videos, but it murders the Irish. Is there any way you could add the Irish you use in so we can see how the words are spelled and then compare them to your pronunciation, le do thoil?
I have so much to learn about how to edit videos so that the words can show up on screen as I speak them, BUT just in case it's helpful, I always put the Irish language phrases and proverbs in the note below the video (along with any key sources I used). I know that's not as helpful, but while I'm learning, at least you can check those. Thank you for asking this, and I'll see what I can do about learning this new skill.
My mother always made pork tenderloin and fried cabbage in bacon fat for New Years. Always put a dime (once silver long ago) in the cabbage for luck to whomever got it on their plate. It never felt like a strong thing to me but certainly shows the transmission of some tradition from generations past.
It’s a good sign for the New Year when there is a good fire burning in the hearth. Being of Irish and Scottish heritage first footing was a big tradition in our house. A dark haired neighbour always obliged carrying a bit of coal and a bottle of whiskey. The downside of the first footing was as a red head I couldn’t step over the threshold till the dark haired first footer had entered and the party began. Not so fond memories standing in the cold waiting. Us red haired girls get such bad press in Irish folklore. Happy 2025.
Jackie, that's so great! And I know what you mean about the red-haired. Once, many years ago, I was talking to a fisherman on Inis Mor who said, "We would never go fishing if we met you in the lane." Quite naturally, I said, "What do you mean?" He gestured at my hair and said darkly, "A ginger woman." How thrilled I was and still am! So I'm standing outside the door with you but we're singing to the stars. Happy New Year!
Happy new year, Kate and everyone reading this! ✨ My dad has black hair and he'll come by tomorrow, making him the first to cross my threshold in the new year. Lucky me! Also; it's a good sign for the new year to drink your favourite beverage first thing! I had coffee. :)
Learning Irish from you sounds so much fun ✨ But I could never afford it, since I’ve never had a job and probably never will. The cost of the language course is the same amount I live on for a month. But that's how it is 💔

So I'm standing outside the door with you but we're singing to the stars. Happy New Year!
Just found you on New Years. Happy to meet you.
I'm so happy to meet you, too. Happy New Year!
The new year began with all the rubbish out of the house! It will be a tidy New Year!
Fantastic!
Happy new year, Kate and everyone reading this! ✨
My dad has black hair and he'll come by tomorrow, making him the first to cross my threshold in the new year. Lucky me!
Also; it's a good sign for the new year to drink your favourite beverage first thing! I had coffee. :)
Happy New Year to you and your black haired and LUCKY dad!
Learning Irish from you sounds so much fun ✨ But I could never afford it, since I’ve never had a job and probably never will. The cost of the language course is the same amount I live on for a month. But that's how it is 💔
Dear Emma, I want you to know how glad I am that you are here with us. I also want you to know that there are lots of ways we CAN dance together this year. 1. I have a whole treasure trove of free workshops, classes, and books on this page: www.katechadbourne.com/free-teaching-and-gifts/ 2. If you join my newsletter community, I sometimes offer free classes and gatherings, and I love to give gifts to my friends there. Here's a link to sign up (and no pressure here - just another way to stay connected): eepurl.com/cb8BLn 3. Every April I teach an entirely FREE poetry workshop right here on TH-cam. Poets can share their work and there are prizes and lots of celebrations. You would be so welcome to join in the fun! I'm wishing you every blessing in this new year.
