Hello Kate. Hope you feel better everyday, and take good care. I write poetry as well as paint and I studied the Harp many many years ago. I liked this instrument for many reasons, firstly because the octaves are laid out so seeing where the colored string for the c notes is easy. Secondly, when I had my first lesson, my teacher had me play on a concert harp which, as you know, is very large. when I leaned the harp upon my left chest and strummed! OMG! the sound vibrated through my whole body and I was transported to the divine realms. SO MY VERB FOR YOU TODAY IS "I'M HARPING" meaning that I am transporting myself to a resonant tone. I loved this video today Kate. I feel like I've made a new friend amongst the community here. You are shining! Harpists are truly dedicated musicians. My creative work is mostly visual, but poetry is powerful when it "flows" This happens to me occasionally when I am writing... don't you find that when you are finished, it is like the poem wrote itself. We have writers Festivals here in Vancouver, and I have participated a few times. One da y I will send My winning poem from 1999. Because I have no knowledge of the Irish language, and the subtitles fail to catch the intricacies of the separate words, I kindly request that you hold up a card with the words and their proper spellings so I can add them into my repertoire of all things Irish and Celtic. I would particularly love to see the word SPRING that you spoke of in this video. One of my studios in the past was named "Spring Studio" as I was born March 20th, the first day of Spring. Same here- unwrapping this algorithmic gift in the wee hours of morning! Also My paternal great grandfather came from Dublin to New York. But no language was handed down to me. And no stories of the old country either…Still, I remember. I write and I speak to weave the magic of my Ancestors.
OK. It took me awhile to focus. I have a digital copy of Fr. Dinneen's dictionary which doens't have the old Irish font, and the next "I" verb in it after "soillsighim" is 'sóinseálaim', which he defines as 'I change, I vary, I exchange (as in silver for gold)'. So, that one works for me. I like to be changing and trying new things. Write new songs, read new books, etc. Go raibh maith agat, mo chairde.
I have been going through an extremely difficult time in my life for the last six weeks. A few days ago, one of your 'shorts' appeared while scrolling on TH-cam. And it's been truly inspiring to hear your voice every day since. BTW, my maternal grandmother (Nora) was Irish, and two years ago I visited descendants of both her parents in Ireland. It was a magical thing indeed to meet my mother's 2nd cousin who had the same beautiful blue eyes. (My daughter and I noticed it in the same moment!) One of my takeaways from that trip was that I wanted to learn more about Irish language, literature, poetry, and folklore. So I'm so grateful in more ways than one to have "stumbled" onto your channel. And oh yes . . . "I am strong."

You say when we have a story, or music, etc and its new to keep it to yourself. This morning , on the edge of dawn I had part of a dream about a story. Waking it stayed with me. I wrote it down. Its not finished. But I'm struck at how it came. Thanks for the advice
That's something in itself that you happened upon a word that inspired you whilst searching for another- tricksy wee magic words waiting to lift your spirits. Well this leads on from last week in the sense of "weaving in to the All". That there is something greater that we may contribute to. There is a reassuring sense of belonging to this. The Bards and Skálds knew of the alchemy of words that, as you say, we now realise induce chemical reactions in us. And of course the intent and style of delivery enhanced with music and the lilt of poetry. I moor my drifting mind to these words. I safely moor your failing heart. I moor no more my attention to the frivolous.
Those are three powerful moorings, my friend. I appreciate deeply how well you understand this, the power and potential of it. And yes, those wee tricksy words just waiting to help us begin the upward spiral!
I pick up my pen and smile, I strum my instrument and hum, I laugh as I speak and sing a surprising tune.
