How a coin flip decided Pokemon's largest tournament

  • The 2023 Orlando Regional Championships was the largest live Pokemon VGC tournament in the history of competitive Pokemon, with 780 competitors attending. The finals featured two of the most prominent VGC players, Wolfe Glick and Ashton Cox, and this was their THIRD time meeting in a Regional Finals. The set was incredibly exciting and came down to a single coin flip to determine the victor at the end! In this video, I break down the finals and what made it so exciting.

I don't have feedback for improvement, but after reaching the end I want to add that I really appreciated the insight into the specific EV training of Arcanine, gholdengo, and iron hands and how it affected the matchup, the damage calculations and whether misses/critical hits impacted the outcome, potential outs the players could play toward, and the thought process behind bringing certain Pokemon and behind game 2/3 team/strategy adjustments. I know these things probably take a while to research, but they add a lot of depth to the video!

Loved the edited video. It's obviously much more resource intensive to do than your other stuff; there was clearly a lot of work that went into this. I found early on with my edited content that my hardcore fans enjoyed it more, but it didn't attract as wide of an audience. I settled on non-edited content and it made my production line much easier, I'm curious to see how it goes for you though as this was really enjoyable to watch.

I LOVED this video. For someone that is trying to get into competitive it feels like there's a gap from starting and understanding how to EV/IV pokemon all the way to playing well and knowing how to teambuild/do well in a meta. This video (and rly all your content) feels like a bridge between those gaps. This kind of breakdown helps ppl like me help understand how to ask similar questions when we see opposing teams.
What's rly cool about this vid too is that ppl can watch the original stream and get more of an appreciation of it after watching this vid and vice versa. (and hopefully get more views as a result!)
The editing is also really helpful, esp when you talk through different scenarios and what if's. I bet it must be helpful to ppl who are trying to get into VGC get a better grasp of what's going on. When most ppl talk about matches, esp with top players they skip past context thats obvious to them but a less expereinced player wouldnt know and as a result they get lost but you gave all the context and frameworks to make it a lot easier to understand. (its like being a good teacher vs being a good player) Between the editing and all the context you are able to provide this is hands down the best analysis vid for this match. (plus, well other than wolfe and moxie boosted you're the only one who makes edited VGC content which helps you stand out on youtube VGC content. So if possible keep it up!)
