    Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

    Hard to tell exactly what you are doing because of the moving camera, but we figured it out and it worked for us too. All the other videos show the whole black box having to come out. Thanks!!

    I was so excited to do this because I'm on the third light assembly since buying this damned fan (6 of them and 2 of the lights are completely out) 6 years ago. It's been 3 years since I bought the last light capacitor or whatever it is that requires rewiring) and it lasted less than 6 months. I refused to buy another thing from them and I'll NEVER buy another Hunter fan! I think the same factory spits ALL of 'em out, just some of them with the "Hunter" logo! Anyway, I drug the ladder in from the garage, took off the light thing and YAY, there's a pink wire!!! Booo.. it doesn't have one of those little connector things to be able to remove it! I'm an older woman with knees that barely walk, much less get up on a ladder, but I was determined to do it myself! Between yesterday and just now (24 hours later), I have fixed BOTH of them by doing what you say here... just had to use a wire nut as there wasn't a "plug-in" and it wasn't a pink wire on mine. It wasn't the same model you worked on, but it's easy enough to improvise... the culprit is easily identifiable! Had to attach the black and white striped one to the black wire after taking the demon part out! Thank you! I have LIGHT!

    You are awesome! I didn't realize that this could even be an issue. One note, while your fan had plugs, mine only had wire connectors. However, it was the exact same colored wires that you state in your video. Had two fans I did this to tonight, saved me a lot of $$$? Thanks!

    Thank you for the video. Fixed the Hunter ceiling fan light issue I was experiencing. Is the resister not needed or a necessary part, and there is no safety concern with removing it? It doesn't sound like by your video but should it be replaced? Thank you for any replies in advance.

    I just purchased and installed a new Hunter Highbury II fan. I guess I have this problem to look forward to. Is there a reason the limiter is going bad like exceeding the bulb wattage recommended? You wouldn't think there would be an issue especially if using led bulbs that use less wattage.

    This might not pertain to this particular issue but I’m trying to get the word out to those of you that have flickering or bulbs that show very dim or just won’t stay on - if you have a remote that has a light on button and your lights frustrate you, try holding down the light button for a few seconds and see if the lights go from dim or off to very bright

  • @MikeTrieu

    Hmm, my Hunter fan doesn't have that inline resistor. Must be built into the wireless controller unit on mine. I hear there's a resistor on that board that likes to burn out.

      Active Jeff does this trick work on all Hunter ceiling fans? Regardless of model? I have the same problem on my Hunter, but I don't believe its the same model as your fan. It's an all black fan, and the lights are positioned differently. Im not sure the model name, for it came with the house I purchased. Thanks

    Big thank you to you for this video. I had this issue and removing that did the trick. Very simple fix and I never would've know if not for you. I do have a question though. Is it a good idea to replace that part or just keep it jumped like this? Is there any concerns with not having a resistor?

    • @jdruss3
      @jdruss3  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you replace that part it would do it again. I’ve never had a problem and been over 4 years with many many many fans. Just don’t put high wattage bulbs in. No need to how a days with led, pretty expensive per candle bulb but worth it

    I installed a ceiling fan and I connected the ground wire to mounting frame because no ground wire was visible. My fan works just fine but the lights do not work. I did not see a green wire coming out of the outlet box and I checked the connection and the lights won't turn on. The fan works fine through all speeds. Do i need to connect the green wire somewhere or disconnect it and leave it unconnected. I don't see how that would solve my issue. I connected the previous fan and had no issues. Could the resistor be bad from the get go?

      Shouldn’t be noisy if your mount is secure. Put over 100 of these fans in my apartments and only problem has been the lights due to the wattage limiter (resistor)
