    Would have brazed a new bend in, nice to get the pipe more centred on the tray and also nice to be able to show the customer what the problem was.
    Just got one of those Knipex pipe cutter too, impressed with it so far!

    Manufacturers give distance's from branch selector boxes to 90 bend and fittings due to expansion and contacting of piping during operation. Leak waiting to happen seen this with brick and concrete in wall penetration's great catch 👍

    Another option is to take just a small piece of pipe and cut alongside it. Put it around the hole like a mantle, then braze it. Gives a strong seal without all the cutting and double brazing.

  • @mdwightj
    @mdwightj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I would have 100% brazed those leaks, bent the corners of that metal down so it couldn't happen again.
    Then I would evacuate, and charge the system. In the US you just don't walk away and say I'll have to come
    back when you could have gotten it up and running. But to be fair, I come from the supermarket side of
    the business, you don't leave until it's up and running unless the part isn't available.
    But it's interesting to see how it's done across the pond. Cheers!

    I was going to ask what you thought of the 500micron club. I was going to ref the Mitsubishi manual with the 5 tor. All the American guys bang on about the 500 micron but if the manual don’t say that why if not needed ??

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Deep vacuum is Allways needed ! Dehydration is critical to system efficiency , Rla , Performance , Compressor life & Compressors Run Quieter that have been evacuated overnight. I’ve proved it. Many times over 40 years of evacuations.
      The Deeper the Better ! I Shoot for 100 microns when possible. Under 500 if unit has to up ASAP.

  • @h8ryj
    @h8ryj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm still instaling systems therefore still a while to go, it's nice to see proper vacuuming processes taking place. Can anyone please explain where the microns raise a little then drop down, what causes this to happen?

  • @nunya6081
    @nunya6081 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice Vacuum setup!
    Only thing I’d do differently is put both hoses on the suction line, one hose on each unit
    Then put vac stat on the liquid/discharge line
    I guess that way you can read the total system, at least through the closest IU to the OD
    Love the vids!

  • @rosserd1234
    @rosserd1234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unbelievable that the pipe was left like that in the first place, bit more care an it wouldn't of happened, great video again 👍

  • @OcRefrig
    @OcRefrig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video ! But , I Do a Couple things differently. I Have learned a few things in the last 40 years doing evacuations.
    1) I Have Found using a Vacuum pump isolation valve is a VERY BAD idea !!! They are unreliable & Leak Bad. They WILL DRIVE U NUTS & make u think u have leaks when u don’t. Use a Refrigeraton ball valve that u can buy at a supply house & Weld Male Flares on the ends.
    2) To Save Time & Get a better job - Just hook up the Vacuum pump & Let it Run overnight.
    3) Come back the next day & Fill her up.
    4) Core Removal tools Leak - Don’t not use them when doing a decay test. They can have u chasing your tail. 😁👍
    Great video though ! That Was a Fun one !
    I Love it When You can Hear & see the Leaks ! So Satisfying !

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hvacuk8975 I was thinking about it for a second. I believe u could just shut all valves on your manifold for a decay test since the guages read pressure when all valves are closed. It also takes pump hose out of equation.

    Great Video, I mainly carryout installs and have come across a job that the client wishes to replace the cassettes but the condensers have been removed and the pipes left open, going to replace all the exterior pipework as it looks like a grinder was used, I discovered that there is oil in the cassettes, what would be the best course of action? many thanks in advance.

    Gotta love the different type of refrigerant cans they give you. Here in the US they just began to stop color coding the cans, why? Good question, I think HVAC guys here need to storm the AHRI HQ and demand that to change lol. Nice video man, I like to see how HVAC is like in other countries, and I love how thorough you are. I'm pretty nit-picky with my vacs as well, I get em down and below 500 if I can. I use 2 3/8 hoses from appion, using their core removal tools, hell I got an old one of theres from 2018. Keep up the good work man, love it.

    • @hvacuk8975
      @hvacuk8975  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate appreciate it 🙌🏼 So are all your cylinders going to be the same colour now then ? Believe it or not the core removal tools and bigger hoses aren’t very common over here ! Definitely the way I’ll be going forward though 👌🏼 Thanks for watching 🙌🏼👍🏼

    • @FrostHVAC
      @FrostHVAC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hvacuk8975 They're all going to be gray colored, it's literally a nightmare to figure out which refrigerant to take out of your rack if you have a terrible memory like me lol. I mark the tops with the R-number. Hoping they revert, maybe...
      Also it's quite uncommon here as well, I've only seen like 3-4 techs use the big hoses for vacuums.

They are expensive but could be a worthy investment ! I’m all up for reviewing some 😂👀👍🏼👍🏼

      You connect the manifold to the core removal tools. Hook up your refrigerant to the manifold and then purge your hoses. Zero out your scale and start adding refrigerant by opening up your core tool. After you are all done then you will shut off the CRT and hoses and install your cores.
