in the original tv show, i watched when i was a kid, i remember the character of the Equalizer was kind of divine, there were hints of supernatural, and him having abilities that were more than human. It wasn't to obvious, but he had a kind of The Exorcist aura, it was more than simple criminality, at least in some episodes. And in the movies, the guy is simply not human. And this scene symbolizes the wrath of God, with the weather elements and everything. And him simply punishing in a overkill manner all these bad guys.

For an elite squad of killers, the let's go after him one guy at a time method not super effective. Also, his hair and scope stay dry up there. Movie magic.

I don't think they were getting paid this time. If I remember correctly they went after him because he knew they were the bad guys and intended to kill them anyway. So it seemed like they thought the best thing to do was go after him before he went after them.
Call me a coward if you must. But I fail to understand how anyone comes across death & detraction of their team mates and thinks to themselves 'no worries. I've got this'. I think at a bare minimum I would need to regroup & rethink the plan, which would require a new identity many thousands of miles away.

Had they survived they’d probably grieve but in the moment itself such distraction will kill you. Soldiers are trained for this and they’re experienced. Unlike you and I. So I don’t think it’s unbelievable.
Love this scene. Still bothers me that an elite ex-military kill squad splits up in a storm to process unknown structures one at a time without thermal or NVDs, which they absolutely had access to. Also, they really had no civilian collateral to worry about with everyone evac'd from the town and only one tango to worry about; they should have burned the town to the ground and smoked McCall out or flash-banged the shit out of every building they breached. Also, placing your overwatch asset on a concrete tower in a 80 MPH cross-wind and no cover is a questionable move. They probably would have been better-off waiting for dark, scanning the area with NODs, and then isolating and pinning McCall down with overwhelming firepower. Still an awesome scene.
I agree although it was an awesome scene it would be nice to see McCall be challenged physically and when the odds are against him that way it be more interesting (although McCall did train these guys I still agree with what you say)

it's so bizarre to see a movie taking place in your (my) neighborhood. I guess the people of L.A. are used to seeing local spots in films. When you live in Situate, Ma and work in Boston.....not so much. This whole movie takes place in all the places I'm at on a daily basis. Whooooo! I also was living in Bangor Maine and working for Stephen King at WZON when Creep Show and Misery were filmed locally. The thing that impressed me was that many of the daytime scenes were filmed in the middle of the night. They had lights on the roofs of buildings that lit up downtown Bangor like it was noon time.
I just picture McCall standing at a FedEx office copying-off a hundred or so pictures of his dead friend, and then taking the time to pin them up all over the shanty town ahead of the attack.

This was filmed next to my old apartment on Ocean Street Brant Rock Marshfield Massachusetts. The ww2 Submarine Tower is also used in the movie. My apartment was next door. 😊

The one thing that doesn't make sense is this sniper is shooting through 25 mph winds from a tower but looking at the height of the Waves those winds are blowing closer to 40 to 50 miles an hour, boy he must be really good. Cuz he's looking through the scope at the Target but he'd have to put that scope away over to the left over to the right to compensate for the movement of the wind at which point he wouldn't see anything to the scope
