In today’s age with these cars, there is absolutely no reason having Monaco on the calendar. Taking into account that Spa (probably the best racing circuit of the season) is under scrutiny blows my mind

For the first time, racing drivers were told to drive slowly as possible, not a race, it was a parade. I fell asleep during the race.

I was watching the race with Cam F1 on the other screen commentating, and I couldn't keep my eyes open. I woke up in time for the most exciting part of the race, when Lewis pitted, and Max pitted the next round... Yaaawn

I don't like Sky F1, i actually watch the races in Spanish, but this lady definitely put Max down to her level with the P6 response, why does Max get so defensive in interviews? I know they are morons, but dont get down to their level man. The "he tells it like it is" viewership is very small and niche and he sounds whiny too.

@@jeffreyjohnson8098 Monaco really needs to be given the special treatment and turned into a sort of an extra round with cars specifically made for this one track. They may even be fully standardized, this race is all about the drivers anyway. Monaco is hanging on purely on prestige and traditions, anyway, so lets lean into it while also making the race more exciting.

It would require a complete rewrite of the rule, but Red Flag tyre changes should not count towards the mandatory compound change in dry conditions

Make Monaco just quali, with six Q rounds on Saturday dropping two drivers per round, and eight on Sunday dropping one driver per round. Then put the top three on the podium. I know I would be at the edge of my seat! Spice things up with tyres...

In Monaco F2 is the feature race, F1 just the supporting act. It really is.
This is the 1st time in many years, I went to do something else than watching this boredom after 20 laps or so. No evertakes in the top 10, no one going flat out, no strategy.
I would not mind taking monaco off the calendar.

This. The F2004 Ferrari compared to today. It was bad enough then but some points you could just about get alongside at certain points. Reduce the car sizes. Monaco challenge was precision whilst a mistake puts you out or allows the other guy through. Now the cars are so big You can't over take so you don't have to push except in Quali or before a pitstop as no one can get past anyway.

Many comments, but the truth is the truth, this race went too far!! A F1 race where the cars are prancing around 10 secs slower than pole, 4-5 secs off pace, for 90% of the race (if not the whole race) is unheard of !! This race was a joke even for Monaco standards.

At one point he would have lost the race if he had to change tires. Because Russel was within his PitStop range.
He did deserve the win of course, but he was been in that position before when Ferrari threw it away with their strategy.

Clearly you didn’t pay much attention during the race. All drivers were constantly told to slow down to save their tires to make it to the end without a PitStop.
Except the ones that did make a PitStop like Stroll, Lewis and Max.
Ferrari and McLaren were not entirely sure if the tires would last, it was a bit of a gamble.
Just listen to the onboard radio messages.
Lap times were over 1:20s, it was ridiculous.

Pretty much sums it up, out of al the races on the calendar which I watch every second, I just put this on on the background and do other things. In my opinion the race is pretty much on a Saturday with Qualifying, that was as excited as it gets.
Happy for Charles, he deserved it finally. Gutted for Max cause he was powerless the entire race with the frontrunners managing the pace.

its funny because the race could be a decent average one, on one of the coolest and highest risk tracks of the calendar if they just made a tire compound that cannot be managed for 78 laps, or made it mandatory to pit a couple times through the race.

It was a parade, the most sophisticated cars in world with the slowest tires available. Cars should have the best fastest tires available, get rid of choice of tires. Use only the softest, fastest compound tires, no matter how many pits are required. We deserve to see these pilots and machines at their absolute limit.
They say Monaco stays on the calendar because of its "heritage and legacy". Well if that's the logic, then I might as well keep my old, stinky, dirty socks in the drawer.

It would be nice if Monaco Grand Prix is done with a different type of car, only used in Monoca races. A car that is around 50% smaller depending on what size is determined to be the size that will allow for most overtakes.

The red flag ruined any chance of an interesting race as it killed strategy options. Every driver could just be slow everywhere, which reduced the risk of a driver error too as they were not pushing. If you were quicker you could close a gap quickly (like Max did with Russell) but there was never a proper way to pass without huge risks of destroying your race. I am a defender of monaco for the tradition and the qualifying, but a race like this, without even the option to do a strategy gamble, was just really not great.
It was boring, but I am happy for Charles for the home win.

Worst race I've ever seen. They honestly need to axe Monaco. It's more of parade these days than the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Those cars are too large and wide for the streets of Monaco.
They were driving so slow all of the drivers that live in Monaco were waving to their friends and neighbors in the crowd every lap.
I would guess the problem for the car is that in Monaco the ground effect is not always there, so relying heavily on the floor to generate grip is not going to work out well. Everyone knows the Red Bull is very secretive about their floor.

Monaco is not a race, it's a big "see and be seen" for the elite.
Maybe shorten the Monaco race to a sprint race. And also they could expand the qualifying because thats where the excitement is. On saturday it is too packed up. The track is so narrow that theres no room to even give room when you are on the outlap.
So expand the qualifying time so that everyone has a good chance to make their best time and not get ruined by one car blocking you and there are not million cars waiting in line on the last minute. While it generates “exciting” and nail-biting runs theres too little room for random timings. And yeah, then just race for few laps in a line to get it over with on sunday. That would be just fine for me. Also of course make it so that you need to pit once as well.
When there are pit stops the race gets exciting. Under and overcuts…no pit stops required due to the red flag caused by once again idiotic driving by K-Mag

When Max won there was pit stops during the race so a big difference Jensen.
Last year the race was exciting there were pit stops , rain played a big part , this year nothing , almost zero pitstops , and couple of overtakes from Lance stroll

@@Dicecreamvan dude, it's about the general race and the events, not about who wins. When Max won with +20 seconds you still had a battle from P2 to P20, you had overtakes, you had pitstops. There are people watching F1 since Nicky Lauda that are saying this is the most boring and uneventful race that they ever seen. Max saying it is nothing ironic, it's just facts. If Max won like Charles did, it would still be the most boring race.
They should change this one race to smaller race cars it would be better and still challenging

After the redflag all strategy was locked in. Meaning they were going much slower as they otherwise would have done. No pushing, no mistakes. Everyone had tires to spare.

@@karmatt5075 What do you mean? Last year was one of the best Monaco GPs in a very long time. It started out dry, then it got wet, and then it started to dry up again. A lot of chaos, a lot of crashes. This year was objectively boring. You could count the amount of overtakes on one hand. The result was more loved by the fans because we all got to see Charles win the one race he wanted to win so badly, but that doesn't mean the race itself wasn't boring. The 2023 GP of Monaco had the highest amount of overtakes since the 2011 Monaco GP, so how was last year more boring than this year? Natalie didn't shut down no one. Would be better to make Monaco an event like Goodwood festival. Not on the F1 calendar as I don’t believe it meets the requirements needed for a modern f1 car. When you’re talking about bringing in certain rules just for Monaco only I think you really have to question whether it should still be on the calendar.

Objectively the worst “race” on the calendar
They really need to change the track, remove the shicane after the tunnel, expend that straight with DRS into a heavy breaking zone.
You’ve got more chance of being overtaken by a Yacht at Monaco than a F1 car.
I love F1, every time I struggle to sleep, I watch a race - 5 minutes maximum and I am fast asleep.
