    Great video. Nice to see it up close. Nice to see you handling it in your hands. Nice to see you use an XLR cable from a shotgun mic and snap it in. This video gave me a much better feeling of the size of this unit and how it gets connected to the camera and headphones and mic.

    Thank you so much for explaining the record function/file type/2 mix setting. Most of the tutorials on UTube do not explain the difference. I had set my mic to Stereo thinking I would get 2 files for editing. Now I understand what to do.

    Thank you for the video. I wonder if you could tell me how on earth to pause the recording as opposed to stopping it. Pausing is also useful for testing the audio levels without writing anything to disk

    Hello and thank you for your timely tips. I want to use the tascam with a MKE 600 microphone with 1.5V AA phantom power. In the menus, input then input gain should I select mic + phantom and turn on the microphone? OR bundle on mic and turn on the mic (the idea is to use the mic power and save the tascam power). Second question: using the MKE 600 microphone as a phantom connected with an XLR cable, how can I connect the Sennheiser XSW DIGITAL RX35 receiver to the tascam with the mini jack cable to the EXT in 1/2 input of the tascam (the idea is to use the XS Wirelless Digital with an ME 2-2 lavalier microphone with the Tascam DR-70D which is itself connected to a MKE 600 microphone connected to an XLR input)? Maybe it's the same process as with a Rode wireless go? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the video, if i want to record with the internal mics, i have to put just MIC on the Channel setup?

      @danaplays  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds right, you will have to test this. Turn off all buttons that activate the external mics. I would test this by hitting the record button and checking the input gain levels. Watch VU meters or use headphones to hear the audio quality. Recording with the built-in stereo mic, point the built-in stereo mic at the sound source and place the unit in a stable location. I usually use external and do not have this deck at home right now. I would check the user manual found on web search for more info.

    Nice tutorial. Thanks. Is there the ability to monitor one channel at a time while setting up and thus not hear the other channels in the earphones? I do a lot of 4 channel work with a large external mixer and have to set each guest up individually before making all channels live for recording. Also, at times while recording interviews I will isolate a channel if I suspect there is a noice, interference, or need to adjust a channel and thus not have to listen to the other channels confusing what I hear. Will the DR70D allow the operations as I have defined?

      @danaplays  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      During set up, I would suggest bring down the volume on the other channels to listen to one input. I think on the listening end during a recording session, you might need to use an external mixer that has that capability, however, I also suggest doing more searches to find out, not sure if you can adjust monitoring only of individual tracks.

      Ok. Thanks. I hadn't seen anyone talking about distinct channel monitoring and thus kinda figured if it hadn't been mentioned, it probably wasn't available. It is my understanding that the DR60D will allow this kind of operation however.

    Nice vid, and review is good. But what about a detailed working tutorial of the menu and all its functions. How to run cables, basic 101 stuff for beginners. Like me..
    Anyway great video, and thanks for it. But nowhere can I find how to really use this product on youtube.

    I used mine yesterday on a shoot and was very happy. However, I can't
    figure out why there are 4 files for every clip, 2 of them being silent.
    I cannot find the answer so thought to ask you. Thanks for any help!

      Lance J. Reha Each of 4 channels can be set to record or not. even though you're only using 2 channels, all 4 are turned on--thus you get 4 channels.

    Just bought a Dr 70d tascam and would like to know how the slate functiin works. Does it only make sound on the 70d or will it add the sound to both the camera audio and 70d audio when connected to make post production sync easier

    • @zacgrimaldo
      @zacgrimaldo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can add the slate tone manually or automatically to your recording(s). That will give you the standard level for you to go by in post, like a digital target is to photography for color. You can run the audio from the Tascam DR 70D into the imput of your camera, and the slate tone will also be on the scratch track of audio recorded by the camera. This will make it easier to match up the audio in post. Hope that helps!

    When I use my Panasonic handheld video camera HC-V770 with this Tascam DR-70D , if both are plugged into utility power instead of battery power, I get loud interference in my video recording on the memory card that is in the video camera. But if I unplug either unit and let one run off of battery, the sound in the video is crystal clear.
    Is this normal? is there something I can do to stop this in case my batteries are dead or I am making a long recording? On the audio only recording that is on the memory card in the Tascam DR-70D, the audio is fine, no issues or changes....
    Thank you for your feedback.

    Thanks for such helpful information. I am having problems with my WAV files though. I am currently editing a video for which I had the audio recorded separately. After doing the sinking, the audio only plays on computers but never on cellphones except when using headphones. Sounds strange to me. I tried to convert into different formats but nothing. Can you help?

    • @danaplays
      @danaplays  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This would have to do more with the timeline and export setting in the NLE, than the WAV files. By the time you export this it will be a different format. Make sure you have both channels, and or stereo, with both R and L or both channels are playing at the same level, or make adjustment there, and also make sure you are exporting video and audio.

      Agree. I was in a hurry when I put this together for a demo in class, and that's the way it worked out - did not have time to do it over - but fully aware.
