    Your videos are easy to watch and learn from as you keep it simple. When you make people feel as though you are sitting across from them explaining what you're doing, it's a sign that you're doing it right!

    Beautiful cover! I really like your idea of placing a layer of felt under your cover fabric. I think the difference between slow stitching and embroidery is that slow stitching doesn’t really follow a pattern. I like the easy going method of slow stitching and lack of expectations. Whatever you call it stitching with gorgeous threads on scrumptious fabrics is a joy! Hugs and blessings, 🤗🇨🇦❤️

    Hi, Marion! I don’t remember if I told you where I’m coming from. I live in central Wisconsin USA. We have 22+ acres of old pasture land and woods. It’s mostly peaceful. It’s just past midnight. I can hear a barred owl. “Who cooks for you” is the cadence of its call. I’ll often hear whippoorwills and sometimes coyotes at night. Yesterday afternoon I heard the cry of a hawk or, perhaps, a bald eagle. Well, I really enjoyed your video. It’s very relaxing watching you create. Those willowy stems and flowers look very dreamy. You’re very good at filming. I don’t think you can go wrong because you’re so gosh durn earnest, tho filming your work right side round would be a plus. Now on to page 1. 💜

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      How wonderful Mara! I love to hear about where you are... it's so different from where I am. I'm going to have to look up a whippoorwill call now! I hear tawny owls here and there are skylarks, which have a beautiful call. But there aren't any coyotes or eagles......!
      I didn't think I was very good at filming at all. It's all very new to me. But I thought that there's no point in pretending to be something else. You just have to be yourself, so what you see is what I'm like day to day. I feel I've got a curious mind...and that keeps you striving to do more and to learn more. Everything is so interesting!!!

    • @maramakesjournals2319
      @maramakesjournals2319 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@marionsworld24 I’m the same. Always curious. If I don’t know something, I look it up, just as my parents told me to do. The internet is a marvelous encyclopedia. I read a lot about David Bowie last night after watching my favorite artist paint his portrait. What an amazing person (Bowie)! He was curious too, and inventive.

I have learnt so much from you already and I love the style of your videos, nice and relaxed and you explain everything so well that I feel that I could do it too. The first video I watched was the flip through of your previous book and I thought how amazing that was and that I can never make that but the style you’ve done on the covers of this one I believe I can have a go at. I’ve had an inktense set for a while and had no clue how to use them so thanks for that as well. I’m excited again to try things. Thanks so much. 🪡

      Thank you so much Dawn, and welcome to my channel.
      I think a lot of people just don't know quite what to do with Inktense, unless you're more of a paper crafter. Then, of course, it's just like pencils and paint. There didn't seem much online to look at when I first got mine at the beginning of the year, but I soon found a good way of using them. I hope you will have a go. I'll maybe be making pages for that little book next week, so watch out for a lovely way to do that coming up.

    Hi Marion, it’s just fascinating watching you do the book 🙂. I’ve never made a stitched book before and I was wondering why you used cardboard instead of something that could maybe withstand washing if it ever needed it? Thanks for everything you are showing us at the moment, I’m really looking forward to sewing along with you 😊👍🏻

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just don't think that I'd ever be washing it. I suppose it could be sponged if it got marked. From my point of view fabric books take so much work that I think of them as precious and feel I don't put them in messy situations! It's a good point though. My bird book will be fully fabric, but again I don't think I'd ever actually wash it. I'd be worried that some of the old fabrics wouldn't hold their colour. I'll have a ponder on it though...

    • @moirawhite8042
      @moirawhite8042 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marionsworld24 You are right, some of the vintage stuff may not take kindly to being washed.
      I guess you could use something like plastic mesh or even the lid of an ice cream container but using plastic for something so precious doesn’t seem right! Some of the foam-type interfacings might work 🤔

    Such lovely calming videos Marion. Did you dissolve your Inktense in water to dye your lace? Such beautiful work.

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Christine. You definitely can do it that way. But I didn't. I always use the colours direct from the blocks and make up a coloured water on the tin lid or the little water bits on the palette. Then I pick up the dyed water and brush it on iin the same way as I showed on the video. The only difference being that I would have some white cotton sheet underneath the lace to collect the excess dye and get a bonus piece of dyed fabric whilst I'm doing the lace.
      Hope that helps you. If I remember I'll add it into a future video.

    Hi Marion! My mom introduced me to your channel and I am watching all your videos from the beginning. They are so lovely and you are so creative and talented! I am wondering, was the purple fabric you used for the flowers from the same shirt you’re wearing in the video? If so, what a fun Easter egg! Seeing how you find the beauty in everything, even small scraps of fabric, is inspiring!! Thank you so much for sharing your creations and knowledge ❤

      😅 Yes it is... It's a charity shop silk blouse that had been in my stash for years. One side of the front was badly damaged. I just decided to repair it by using the sleeves to replace the damaged bit and making it short sleeved instead. Nobody ever notices where I sewed the big patch on..and I got the rest of the silk to craft with.... Win, win😅

      It's a silk blouse that I re crafted from a damaged one that had been in my Mam's fabric stash. The purple colour is so pretty that I cut the long sleeves off and used them to patch up the front till it was wearable.☺️

    Marion, in many videos you use intense to dye fabric or threads. What is intense , is it a color dye or brusho powders ? This has puzzled me for a while. :)

      Inktense are made by Derwent. It's water soluble ink that is colourfast once dry. They were made for paper originally but they work so well on fabric..

      It's called Bondaweb over here in the UK.
      It's by Vleiseline. You might also see it called WundaUnda. It's description is a paper backed fusible web of glue. Hope that helps you find it. I would think most haberdashers would have it..🤞

    Hi Marion, I sent you an e-mail this morning regarding throwing course sea salt onto fabric when dyeing cotton fabric - if you could let me have the e-mail address to where I can send you a couple of photos of the results I would be happy to do so. I am pushing 80 years old, so don't know a lot of technical stuff on computers, but I can send photos to an e-mail address. Ooohhhh I see you are a Geordie - my very favourite people together with the Scots. I wish I lived where you are, it is so beautiful up there. Let me know if you want me to send the photos. With warm wishes, Joan.🥰
