    Hey there, good video. I believe the smooth ends of the jaw on the Knipex is so you can bend loops and not mar up the metal

      Thanks for watching! Yea I figured that out after I made the video. I still kind of wish they had some teeth. The Kleins have good teeth that don’t really tear up the wire.

    i own Knipex water pump pliers, cutter pliers, needle nose pliers, I also own some klein pliers......if I had to pick one, I gotta go with Knipex.... you're gonna pay a little more for them, but well worth it.

    I have the Knipex Electrical Installation Pliers shown, and I like the smooth area on the tip, for grabbing sheathed wire without damaging it. It's also my only VDE plier, so I use it for poking around in panels etc. All my other pliers have teeth/serration at the tip. I can't call it an essential tool, but rather one that fills multiple niche roles, and something I will always keep in the bag, and often keep in my minimal pocket kit. Usually I also want to have a wider-head twisting tool, like linemans or combis, but if needed this will do it all (along with a screwdriver). I use it as my cutter if I want to make a nice clean cut on a thick twist -- the shear cutting is very satisfying. I use it to make hooks and manipulate wire. I use it as my stripper sometimes. And as mentioned, the shape and texture of the end are useful for certain purposes. I use it to hold ground wires fast while twisting them with a lineman/combi. Knipex makes a similar tool under the stripper category, with a wide gripping end, and which strips more gauges. I'm curious to try that tool out, and see if it could be my primary twisting tool. Twisting is the one task for which I'm really picky about tooling. By the way I'm a noob apprentice in the States, so i'm working mostly with wire nuts, and I haven't really tried all that many different tools yet.

    I believe Knipex doesn’t put teeth on those pliers is so that they don’t score the wire, You should get yourself a paid of the Knipex forged wire strippers, by far my favorite pair of multi use strippers

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yea after I made that video I kind of realized that was probably why they put no teeth on those. I like the ones with teeth for the needle nose better though. I have been thinking about those forged wire strippers with the flat lineman style pliers. I might get those and the Klein of that style for a comparison one of these days

      @@realworldtoolreviews I did just that and I love them. Only complaint with the forged wire stripper is there is no gap between the plier to make twisting wire easier (there's a small gap on linesman pliers). Best wire strippers I've used though, I also prefer the knipex linesman pliers to klein but it's by inches

    I grinded the tip of my Knipex wire strippers (same one as in the video) so that it can be used to turn the screws on devices, switches and outlets.........No regrets. I'm a recent Knipex fanatic. These strippers triggered a tool addiction I never thought i could have. I'm to the point that I'm hiding Amazon packages from my wife if I can 😏

    the Doyle brand makes these, made in Taiwan get at Harbor Freight for about $24. Seem good. My pair is kinda stiff but I haven't worked them just yet hopefully they loosen up. Klein is made in USA at least many of their tools are and so supporting that company is a great idea. With Milwaukee making hand tools in USA now too, that's a nice thing to support them. I think I'll buy a pair of Kleins as my main pair, keep the doyles probably and see how they treat me.

    I have a pair of Knipex forged electrical pliers. They are absolute beast and incredible. They have about four or five different options to strip your wires wear this one only has 2. I think this one has a bigger cutter because it has only two of the wire strippers. I never tried this pair you have but judging by how well mine work I'm sure these are just incredible as well.. however after spending nearly $60 on them I'm not about to spend another $50-60 on a second pair of almost identical pliers..

    I love the Milwaukee’s and I love how the wire strippers part is. I hate how on the Klein’s it’s recessed so I have to look hard to see if I’m on the right wire size. The Milwaukee cutters do kinda suck though lol, plus it has smaller sizes and like you I like to use them for when I do lights

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What's the point of buying the Knipex, if you rarely use it. Use it more often and you will love it. For your info the striper not only for 12 and 14, the smaller one can be used for sizes 1.5 mm² or smaller, the bigger one for 2.5 mm². The flat part at the end of the nose is used to pull cable or make a cicle without damaging the insulation. The crimper is universal, for any sizes and shapes. Once you get used to it, you don't want any other electrical pliers, by the way I use the one with spring.

    • @realworldtoolreviews

    Knipex does make a version of wire cutters that are more similar to the Klein's and I've been using them for a while and I absolutely love them but I don't think there's a massive difference in quality I do think that can impacts uses better steel and would probably hold up a little bit better is it worth the price more I can't really disagree with someone that says it's not worth the price because a lot of connects tools you have to really be into tools to appreciate connects to a point where you're just paying for a little extra quality but sometimes it's just not worth it I personally prefer knipex I wouldn't want to use anything else but I like Klein too I think they're a great brand I've since given away all my Klein's after buying knipex and even some snap-on but I pay for it

    Knipex makes a bunch of different sku's of their multi-purpose Installation pliers, so if you check their website, you might actually find a pair that are set up exactly the way that you want. How do you like multi-purpose pliers compared to Lineman pliers? That would be a good video, whether you could replace your Lineman with the MP's.

    I hate my milwaukee pliers, appreciate the video. My cutters got dented too from trying to cut a thick gauge of wire, and stripping wires with them is pretty off too, often have to repeat on the wire to get all the insulation off. My experience with milwaukee hand tools in general is their only good one is the demo drivers, all the others are pittsburgh quality.
