For over 7 years I have administered insuline to my former cat Timmy. Finally, he lost the battle against diabetes and I had to have him put to sleep when he was nearly 16. He was a big, beautiful silver tabby. He passed 6 years ago and I still miss him dearly. He was such a fine character.

I am so sorry. I lost my tuxedo cat ,who was 20 years old and that was over 8 years ago, I miss him dearly, too. Now my tiger-tortie has kidney failure, too and I don't know how long it will be for her.

The same here. My cat lost the battle against cancer and diabetes too.she was on her 13/14. Sweet as an angel. My best friend and one day the vet adviced me to put her to sleep, because she probably would have 1 or 2 days alive and suffering with thirsty thing every minute, etc…. It was one the biggest sad hours on my life. In Feb/2020.

My big orange tabby, Carmel had Pancreatitis which eventually turned into Triaditis. The day came when he was in too much pain and was not going to get better. I had to let him go. I did not even have time to grieve because two weeks later his litter mate brother, Mocha stopped eating and now it has been 6 weeks since Carmel died and a month that I have been trying to keep Mocha going. This is so very difficult.

Having a routine really helps me with my diabetic kitty, too. He gets two shots of insulin a day with his meals, and he's such a good boy about it, even hopping onto the couch for the shot without any fuss.

I wish I had found your channel a month ago. My cat passed last week and I'm devastated. The local Japanese vets are good, but they didn't give me much instruction on care of my cat and his kidney disease. I feel like I flubbed many things, especially with injections and IVs. I actually ran across your IV video by chance, by then it was a little too late for me in figuring out the correct spot to insert the needle. I'm keeping you in my subscription so when/if another cat chooses me as a cat dad, I'll be more educated on their care. Thank you for your channel.

I usually use latex gloves (or rather cut off fingers or gloves) so I can apply the cream using my finger, which is even easier I think. Little trick, I apply to the left ear on odd days of the month, ant to the right on even ones, makes it easier to remember. The double-left from 31st to 1nd is tolerable I think

Right? For me it was the liquid medication video that truly helped us. When my girl was put on gabapentin last year I used your pill video to teach me how. She was given Prozac recently so I tried the liquids video. Sadly it didn't go as well as that tasted horrible and she started avoiding pill time completely! She was so anxious about the liquid she stopped cooperating with the pills! We had to take her off the Prozac anyway as she developed severe side effects with urinary retention and was only peeing every 36 hours! We will just put up with her being a grumpy kitten to strangers. Though the vet said I have to come in with her from now on as she was much more cooperative with me in the room. He didn't need the heavy gloves, or the ketamine and he didn't get scratched up this time! She just growled and hissed at him 😄 she is a Mamas girl.

And he was a professional. He would hide it in the side of his mouth or under his tongue, then spit it out. You weren't getting him to submit; name rank and serial number, that's all that was required by the Geneva Convention, and that's all he would give. I've seen a couple of videos on other channels but they all seem to just run through it really quickly without explaining it as thoroughly as you do. I would appreciate any help about this; I have a sweet, gentle boy who runs and hides anytime he thinks someone is going to try to "scruff" him, because the people who had him before us did that whenever they were going to do something unpleasant ☹️. So I'm afraid to do it, but since I have to do it, I want to be able to do it right -- without causing him any unnecessary stress or trauma.

This goes against what I was taught. Aren’t you supposed to rub it in? I have to use .7 ml and there really isn’t enough ear space for that. I put .35 on each ear but if I don’t run it in there’s a thick white coating. .

My cat hated transdermal meds! He was ok with me touching the inside of his ear with my finger in general, but he would go nuts if he felt medication being put there.

My sweet 16 boy also has hyperthyroidism for two years now and it’s been hard to regulate his thyroid but I’ve just become aware that he has lost his hearing almost completely or completely but I was wondering can the transdermal med dry up,as it does.I find it all over the floors sometimes and could it have fallen into his ears and clogged them up and caused the lack of hearing? We did have the vet check but she didn’t do anything else.Passed off as old age.I can’t help but have a gut feeling that this could be the issue?Or maybe just denial for me?

But is this option more expensive than the pills or liquid? And is transdermal the most convenient for pet owners?

I've just been prescribed the same pen and dosage from the same pharmacy. I'm confused as to what you mean by a rotation. My pharmacy said. a rotation is when the two arrows align but in this video you only do a click. I don't know who is right and certainly do not want to overdose my dear senior cat.

Dr. Uri, could you please address transitional cell carcinoma? My Bratty was diagnosed on a Saturday and had to be put down the following Wednesday as she had trouble urinating. We were together 17.5 years, and I am sick over it!

Parasites? They don't know if Toxoplasma makes humans like cats more but they might? Or they might just make you take more risks.
That and humans pack bond with anything!

Creature's fur is so interesting! At first I thought she was a tortie but the red patches on silver torties look red/cream, not brown. I am so confused haha. Does she have mosaicism or something?

I’m reading through the comments and it seems like most if not all folks have compliant cats. I’m giving mine transdermal meds for hyperthyroidism and I have to chase her down every day. Try catching a cat that doesn’t intend to be caught!!🤪

Dr Uri. My cats hate it when I try to put their tick and flea topical drops. The manufacturer advises putting on the skin at the nape of the neck. Can I put it on the inside of the ears too. The jump and run away as soon as I start parting fur at the back of their neck- they knows its 'Spot on' time. What's you advice?

We're having luck in our 3rd week of hyperthyroidism pills and kidney dry food, taking easily. Our cat is 17 and although he is 'yowling at night' less, we are wondering if there is a med to give him to calm him further at night? A sedative? We are taking him for blood-work recheck in about a week. Thank you, love your channel.

This isn't how it's happening with my cat. First of all, she's not a calm cat. She needs to be "rounded up" to administer the methimazole. Then the situation of the "applicator". I'm given the cream in a small hypodermic and I need to measure out .09 cc of it and put it on a finger cot. Once that is done, my body language gives me away and the cat tries to ditch me. I don't chase her but she knows what is going on. Then I get to try to gently restrain her, go for the pinna which she diligently folds down so I can't get inside. I have to (with one hand). gently grab her ear tip and at the same time, rub the cream inside her ear. Repeat twice per day for the rest of her life.
So far, I've been doing this since April of this year and her T4 has decreased from about 6 to 1.3 which is great. We also have to balance the dosage of methimazole with her BUN level which goes up with T4 decreases. Blood tests every 4 weeks until we stabilized her.
You make it look easy. Sometimes, it's not. My cat won't listen to your video. She ignores it :-)

It must be the first time that I have seen a full made up bed at a vet clinic.
Is that something for staff members that have to stay the night to observe a patient like every few hours?
