The problem with air shocks, bags etc is that NOBODY TAKES CARE OR PROTECTS THEM FROM CRACKS AND ROT. I've been wrenching for 3 decades. Also 4th gen logger. We got air bags on semis, log trailers. U gotta protect them. It's like leather, u gotta keep it clean and moisturised. I have same set of air bags on a 07 town car, 99 Town car and a few semis or trailers. I keep them clean and every 3 months I put a heaping glob of Vaseline all over the rubber and when that gets sucked in I spray with 303. Or melt a few table spoons of Vaseline and pour in 2-4 Oz of 303 and they will stay supple, soft and will never crack. It's like sanding down a fender to bare metal and and just bolt on car then be surprised it's rusted in a few weeks. Yes it's going to. Like making whoopee with dirty ladies, gotta use protection. I've had tires, air bags, wiper blades last year's and years with this method. If u buy a car with bags, wash them and them do this even old bags and will last alot longer than doing nothing. Just like rust, kill and stop that trash before it gets bad. Don't wait until it's broke down to fix. Maintaining is the name of the game.
I used Monroe MA822 struts on mine (2001 Park Avenue Ultra). We've gotten along pretty well so far with the Monroe brand...we haven't had any problems with them so far anyway. Here's the link to the shocks on the Monroe website: www.monroe.com/en-US/e-catalog/MA822 You can plug your car's info in there as well to see what comes up. I think I bought mine from NAPA. Costs about $70 for the pair, so pretty cheap.
It pulls kindof hard. They might have a plug/cap over the air port that you need to remove so that air can flow into/out of the shock as you extend it by hand.
@@lukesnyder9015 No I wouldn't recommend that. Some cheaper struts can blow because there is no physical limit if they aren't physically installed on the vehicle when you apply the air. I'm not sure about this specific application, but I know that some vehicles in the past could blow the air bag of the strut if they were allowed to extend too far.
@@lukesnyder9015 No. Don't hook up a shock like this with no rude height sensor and bolted in. It will just air and pop the ends out. Not like a hydraulic cylinder. They will stop, these wont.
As far as I know, yes. I'm not 100% sure if yours would have the whole 'air ride suspension' with those air lines going to it, but even if yours doesn't, the process for removal/replacement should be the same other than that you might not have to deal with those air lines. I would bet, though, that yours is the same setup as the Ultra as far as suspension goes. Let me know what you find out if you would. Good luck!

Well, I've never had to replace the lines, so I'm not 100% sure. You can buy a kit to replace the air lines on both sides for about $12 - 20 (Amazon was the cheapest place I saw to get it). It's Monroe part# AK29, and fits all of the Park Avenues with air ride from 1997 - 2005. It seems pretty simple to replace... it has a couple plastic clips and screw-on plastic fittings. I bet that the hardest part is getting to the lines under the car; especially around the air compressor. But all in all, it should be pretty self-explanatory once you get under the car and see how the current lines are put on. Sorry I don't have an exact answer, but I hope this helps a bit. Good Luck!
I have a 1992 oldsmobile regency elite. An mine just happend to sagg this week. Like the one in the video .I'm wondering 🤔 If it's the air compressor leveling system. Or the shocks 😲 🤔....???? Anybody got any tips please 🙏
I have a 96. When you start it up do you you hear the air compressor come on? It's supposed come briefly to raise the car then shut off. Mine is sagging as well. The air compressor comes on but stays on for an extended period of time and does not raise the car also cuts on at random times while driving.
@@frederickjonesjr.6754 If the pump stays on, then you're losing air in one of the shocks or air lines, and the pump keeps running to constantly add air that is leaking out.
Huh interesting that there is no air sensor for the shock. I replaced a Lexus LS400/Toyota Century air suspension and it had an air sensor at the top of the shock.

I just bought a 1995 Olds 98. It seems to have this exact same suspension.
Yep, several GM vehicles from the same year utilized the same base, and thus many of the same parts.

Is there a pump turn off switch for the air shocks. If it does were the location.
I just pulled the fuse under the rear seat. It's marked ELC for Electronic Leveling Control.
But how did you get the new strut to match the height of the old one mine are new and completely pushed in and I can't get it to extend

Is the ultra built the same as the regular park ave model? Have to change rear shocks on my 2000 buick park avenue

Well, I've never had to replace the lines, so I'm not 100% sure. You can buy a kit to replace the air lines on both sides for about $12 - 20 (Amazon was the cheapest place I saw to get it). @@jimcollins9999 Yeah I know. That's why I was asking him if his compressor comes on. Both of my shocks are needing replaced.
