    Thanks Charles👍 I just have 2 questions. 1) Is there much of a difference between the air shocks on a 1994 park ave VS a 2001 park ave.? 2) did you have to disconnect the battery terminal before beginning this job? I noticed that my sister's 94 park ave's pump for the air suspension sometimes runs intermittently while the car is off.

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm... I've never heard mine run when the ignition isn't on... To be safe, disconnect the battery. The shocks are not the same... Part for the 94 would be the KYB SR1003 (For non electronic suspension)....

    Great vid. Question, can you jack up the rear at the factory jacking point on the pinch weld in front of the rear wheel? This would let the bottom control arm hang down and not compress the spring. Would this work?

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not exactly sure why you're asking. You can absolutely jack the car up at the factory jacking point on the pinch weld.

    I have a 2000 Buick Park Avenue ( base model). I replaced the rear shocks a few years ago because the diaphragm was shot. I purchased after market rear shocks (my system looks exactly like yours), the installation was very easy. However, ever since then I've been hearing a jingling in the rear. I've checked all my bolts and there are all nice and tight so I'm thinking that maybe my shocks needed air and maybe I was supposed to add air. But my shocks look exactly like yours. Maybe the shocks I purchased needed air, is that possible?

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to hear the compressor for the shocks running sometimes. If you never hear it you probably need to check it to make sure it's still functional. I believe it's above the exhaust in the rear quarter on the passenger side... trying to remember.

    Thanks for this truly awesome, helpful video! I need your advice please: The automatic leveling system in my 2005 Buick Park Avenue (Base model) comes on every 15 minutes or so while I'm driving. Is this quite normal? At what point should I replace it with a new unit? or Is it possible that this was caused by bad, leaky rear struts?

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Possible that the rear shocks are leaking and causing the pump to run more often than it should.

      @@CharlesAndCars Thank you very much! My last questions please: If I replace the rear shocks, should I purchase a pair or just that particular leaky one that has valve on it? My budget is quite limited due to my fixed low income. What brand & model should I purchase?

      Do you know if the air compressor still works? There's no point in replacing the shocks with air shocks unless you know that the compressor is still working

    I changed the shocks all around about a year ago front and back it was sitting high in the back for a while and then it went back to sinking low which is the reason why I thought I needed to change them in the first place what could be the issue

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air shocks or regular shocks? If it is air shocks it might be that the compressor is not working as it should.

    Do u have the car supported with just the floor jack?

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I never get under a car without stands. I usually will leave the jack at the lifting point after setting the car down on the stand; with no pressure on it, as a second level of protection... You may not see the stands in the video, but they're there somewhere. I have a video specific as to why you don't get under a car without stands. th-cam.com/video/8RKLJp7RY0U/w-d-xo.html

    • @CharlesAndCars

      The onboard air compressor maintains the pressure in the rear shocks. You just need to hook them up. (Assuming that the onboard compressor is working)

    Just changed my front strut units with your other video. Thanks! My 93 PA Ultra has the charger air pump in front too. Still works but I hear it more lately which tells me the rear shocks really need changing. Air escaping from the old units. I believe my shocks are not electronic. I am not sure if on a 93 PA the strut mount is in the trunk or behind the seat? I will see when the new shocks arrive.
