    This is the video that I have been looking for. I'm having the exact same problem on both of my front windows. The back windows had problems a long time ago and my dad just had them disconnected. Thank you for posting the information.

    I have a 1999 Buick Park Avenue ultra supercharged 3.8 engine. The exact same problem on my driver's side. I am not experienced in doing what you have done. At least I know what the problem is. I know a friend who is a mechanic. I will pay him to fix it. Thanks though for the video.

    Thanks! That's what I thought I heard snap/pop. Almost sounds like the glass breaking when that part pops off. Makes you sweat instantly when it happens.🥵

    Thanks! Literally the easiest door panel I've ever removed. And it doesn't have a bunch of those annoying little plastic fasteners that break.

    It's funny that you would do a video on this. I literally just repaired the window on a park avenue for my uncle a few days ago. I welt with a 10-24 bolt with a nylock nut through the plastic clip and metal bracket. The retaining tabs for the clips broke off but the rest of the clip was fin so I just bolted through the regulator braket retaining clip and widow to hold it all together.

    Could either the OP or someone that has done this fix supply the exact sizes of the grommet, aluminum spacer and bolt? I would like to have parts on hand before I take the door apart.

    1/4 x 6. mm .. Grommet will work with a Round cable stop. You will have to drill out the hole in door and cable stop.. leave the broke plastic in the holder.. I used a 1/2 in 1/4 28 bolt and nut. lock tight threads one nut . tighten down till snug ,do not over tighten..

    Nice job. I had the same issue with my 2001 Olds Silhouette a few years back. The big metal bracket attached to the door was plastic on mine and had also com loose and started to crack. Did something similar without buying any new parts. Still worked when I sold it a couple years ago.

    Thank you for this video, I'm having problems with my window not wanting to roll down when its cold or raining outside. I think my problem is because water is getting in from the bottom of my door since the front corner is rusted. I probably need to grease my track and oil the scissored lift.

      @@markfothebeast what kind of grease??

    • @markfothebeast
      @markfothebeast ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tammyward5025 Just a basic grease that's used in a grease gun tube. The thick stuff. Wheel bearing grease works too. No WD-40 or "rust buster" in a spray can.

    I had an 84 buick regal that the power windows did not work. That was not fun in the summer!! turned out to be a combo of bad switches and electric motors for the windows.

    we got a 98 Buick Park Avenue and it has over 270,000miles but the odometer stopped working so it may have almost 300,000+ miles now on that 3.8L and trans. You can also remove that trim pice right behind the door handle it helps.

    • @groutaone
      @groutaone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +g6qwerty I should have a look at that trim next time, sounds like a plan, ya wow those 3.8's are real nice engines

    • @g6qwerty

      Yep the Buick will do 110mph before the Governor kicks in and cuts fuel. Though it dose start to feel light in the front...

    What are the sizes for the rubber grommet and the aluminum barrel.

  • @FredMiller

    Great fix! I "dislike intensely" (my mom told me never to say hate) working on anything "car doors". I am betting that the cause of the failure was excess friction in the track that caused the motor to work hard and the torque broke the plastic piece.

    • @groutaone
      @groutaone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fred Miller Thanks for that, I think you are correct about the friction likely broke the plastic

  • @michaelhartzell9758
    @michaelhartzell9758 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just had to actually fix the same problem. Nuts on the back yea right. Either et is assisting you or you've got smaller hands. Anyway, I used a self taping screw and went through the plastic anchor that goes through the window (via hole). Then I drilled a hole in the door so I could screw one through the front window bracket clip. Sometimes thinking out of the box is better than buying the darn things new.

    I would have liked to see how you got a nut on that screw since you have to do it with the window all the way up. If you think it was fun taking that panel off try it with the door locked! My cars prior owner sold me his car with unopenable passenger and back seat doors. Real fun but I learned it could be done.

    You made a good holder deal. Nice. And that cheap plastic clip wow. Could the manufacture did better than that? You might think so.

    • @TheBrokenLife
      @TheBrokenLife 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +shartne This era of GM is notorious for the most junky window regulators ever. In models just a year or two older than his car the glass bolted into the regulators (like what he did), but then the regulator itself would bend when the slightest thing went wrong (I had 2 fail from being lightly frosted shut! Not even iced over). I imagine they changed to the plastic clips to save the regulator itself, which is actually a design improvement, but still not durable.
      I have no idea how they look these days. I stopped buying GMs.
