I just watched and LAUGHED my ass off watching this. Norton is so damn hilarious. What a script, well written. Norton throwing Ralph under the bus, did him NO favors 🤣
The Honeymooners is so funny & I've seen them so many times. I don't have to watch it. Just close my eyes, think about a skit, see it in my mind & lmao. Now that's a great show!! The way Art & Jackie worked together was nothing less than brilliant!!
One of the funniest five and a half minutes of comedy. The mannerisms, words, and inherent brilliance that only a Gleason could pull off. His Brooklyn New York roots only add to the scenarios he struggles to get out of. This guy was so great at his craft it is scary.
Gleason praised Art Carney. Ironically watching this video, Gleason referred to Carney as, like how you call a great boxer, a world champion. Gleason knew just how forytunate he was to have Carney. Carney helped Gleason and Gleason helped Carney to do a great job of being hysterical on this show.
Jackie is one of the best actors of the 50s comedian shows it's funny even black actors that are overweight still copy his style like the fat guy on family matter pure acting genius ahead of his time
This is one of the funniest episodes of 39 very funny episodes. Gleason & Carney could have made everyone laugh reciting the alphabet. Two genius greats.
A fun show since 1951 to this day. New audiences have joined in the laughter. The good news is that the show was filmed in the middle of NYC. Those quality years.
What the heck are you talking about? Did you not watch the Honeymooners? I don't think you did, because the Honeymooners' ENTIRE SHOW was built around Ralph Kramden yelling at people most especially Ed Norton (played by Art Carney) and his wife, Alice (played by Sheila MacRae)! He also liked to yell about his mother in law, played by Ethel Owen.
And remember, wiseguy, if you DON'T show up, I'll come get you! Where do you live?! Norton, quickly answering for (his pal) Ralph: 328 Chauncey Street, Apartment 11!
As a kid I grew up watching The Honeymooners and still to this day I am 50 years old and I still watch the episodes on TH-cam of not I got that DVD player watch there two man I wish these people would still around
@ Arthur Shatz. Gleason didn't improvise any of his lines in this scene from a classic episode of "The Honeymooners". He read the script but didn't, as you accurately point out, like to rehearse. But his lines of dialogue were not ad-libbed.
@@michaelbarlow6610 According to both Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph, Gleason basically familiarized himself with the plot and the overall dialogue but never fully 'stuck to the script'. This meant that the other stars had to know not only their lines but Gleason's as well simply because there were times when Gleason had to cue another character for an important joke or an action that had to take place - something that couldn't be 'improvised' away. And to keep Gleason on track, they arranged for him to make certain subtle gestures if, for whatever reason, he couldn't remember what was supposed to happen next or what he had to say in which case the other cast member had to 'bail him out'. Joyce Randolph said this was the most demanding part of working with Gleason, namely coping with his constant tendency to veer too far away from his lines.
@ machinewrecker. I didn't say that Jackie Gleason never ad-libbed any of his dialogue on "The Honeymooners" TV show. I just said that (and this is to the best of my knowledge) he didn't ad-lib his lines in this videoclip of the pool room scene from one of the episodes of "The Honeymooners" TV show.
All the episodes are so funny. Art Carney and Jackie Gleason were quite a pair of comedians, recognizing Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph too... My friend knew Paul Carney, Art's son who is very talented in music the same as Art was, great piano player. Paul says that Mrs. Manicotti baby sat him and his brother a few times while Art was acting.
😂😢😮 I think this is one of the best episodes they did with Jackie Gleason boy. He used to make big money. I felt sorry for the other three boy. They hardly made nothing when they did an episode but it was still good in those days. I guess I still watch this once in awhile to get a laugh out of it. It is funny. Thank you. They don't make comedy shows like this no more.
One of my favorite episodes. This scene is a classic. Ralph Kramden talked a lot of s___t and got punked out by Harvey. Jackie Gleason's facial expressions in this scene , priceless.
Yes. No modern ''sit coms'' come close: no P.C. nonsense, no leftist feel good-isms...just magnificent performances ...before a live audience, no canned, fake laughter...
Norton. ( Ed ) was the perfect side kick to. ( Ralph ) what other two grown men did anyone ever see bounce off each the way Gleason and Carney did?? A perfect combo of chemistry , timing and we'll written scripts! A classic masterpiece in TVhistory!!!!

I first saw the Honeymooners when I was about 14 years old back in the late 1970's. It was in the summer when we had no school so I would stay up late and watch TV in the family den after my parents had gone to bed. So one night I was turning the channel on the TV and I saw this show with this big fat guy hollering and getting all bent out of shape about everything. I thought to myself; who's this big fat guy? He's hilarious! So the next night I put the same channel on at the same time and saw the intro where they say; "Jackie Gleason, the Honeymooners." I was like; "So THAT'S Jackie Gleason?" I had heard the name before but didn't know who he was, but now I did. I've been a fan ever since.

When the conversation of greatest sit-coms of all time comes up, The Honeymooners HAS to be in that conversation. This and Seinfeld are, without doubt in the top 5 all time!
Wow I Remember My Brother Darryl and I Growing Up Watching this Show on Channel 9 in Chicago. This was Great TV Back in Chicago. Time's have really Changed. Sometimes I wish I could go back in Time.
There are so many good episodes, but one of my favorites is when Ralph finds the suitcase full of money. Also the one when the dance instructor moves in the building and teaches the Mambo.
@UncleMikeNJ Segregation, etc, was terrible the way African Americans were treated, but I disagree regarding women. Throughout all time, men and women love each other. Both sexes have always had advantages and disadvantages in life, but the two sexes need each other to be happy. And all people have always known this.
