    Honda didn't make life easy for themselves when they turned their fire on some of the biggest names in the prestige car market and pulled the trigger with the four-door Legend saloon. When launched, the near £40,000 price tag and hoped-for customer profile put the car up against well established and favoured names like the BMW 5-Series, the Lexus GS300, the Audi A6 and the Mercedes E-Class. In the eyes of some, Honda also tied one arm behind their back by only offering one engine, albeit a highly accomplished 3471cc 24-valve V6. The Japanese brand added to the car's armoury however with a vast array of technology making it as simple and easy to drive as possible. Headlines were a five speed sequential shift gearbox operated by steering wheel mounted paddles and a highly sophisticated SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system. While it was a package that, brand new, suffered in the shadow of the German and Lexus marques, for used car buyers it all translates into an awful lot of car for the money, underwritten by Honda's exemplary record for reliability and build quality.

      The road tax bracket is the only real issue that I can see. Who knows where that's heading in the next few years?

    I own this car & after driving a load of German makes from Mercedes, BMW to Audi and I kid you not I bought my legend as a temporary replacement but now I'm hooked on it. You get a lot of car for a little money and Honda reliability attached to a 3.5 bullet proof monster of a engine dressed in a suit

    great car! I have the acura Rl version in the USA. have had it for about 11 years and still drives like it did back when I got it. it is a 2006 and the only sign of wear and tear is in the driver side, the seat and the elbow rest on both sides, have had an alternator and motor mounts, replaced brakes twice and im on my 3rd set of tires, also replaced a door handle sensor and a motor from the steering, (all used) but not bad at all. get about 580 miles per tank on the freeway. and can't beat it, my son will be learning to drive in it, so I am saving it for him.

      Just purchased a 2006 Acura RL about a month ago... had to do a head gasket, rebuild the cylinder head, motor mounts, radiator, and some more minor work. It still needs some stuff (front struts, rear bumper is popping out slightly) but for a good price and with how rare they are I did the work and im glad i did. This car pulls, and goes around corners great. That SHAWD really aint a joke..

    I owned one back in 2012 5 years old at the time . No and I mean no German equivalent can be as reliable and bomb proof as these legends . Great car , but I always felt the gear box didn’t suit the engine . But nether less fond memories of a fantastic bit of kit

    Once the the Acura lineup started being designed by the American’s i feel like the card have lost most if its special touches and special feel. Of course this was designed in Japan and i t really look special and understated after all these years. I wish i had one when it came out years ago. And now they stop making the Legend anywhere.

      We recommend the Honda legend 2009, rare and sophisticated - hard to find though! If you can't find one, the Accord is a great car too and much better than other equivalent models from that era.

    Couple of questions:
    Is it a good travel car and does it have enough power, torque for driving in the mountains? (With couple of adults and luggage)?
    At wich speed above 120 mph does it still manage to hold up plus where it's still silent inside?

    • @CarandDrivingCarReviews
      @CarandDrivingCarReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is that a challenge? It should be difficult to crash? Conservative brands like peogot wouldn t not use esp and instead a spec differential, or whatever it is you were saying. Downside of any of those things usually is the feature: it is not of use, be able to corner on urban situations optimum maximum 90mph ,and when granny drives she may crash it. Electro vehicles too, are very much the lsd Extra Q16 torque differential type. Watch grandma in those.
