- Even to this day, many people still play Oblivion. And while it doesn’t throw new things and secrets at us with the same frequency that a lot of more recent games do, there’s still plenty to discover and gawk at in Cyrodiil.
So here in this feature, we’ve compiled what we feel are the fifteen best easter eggs and secrets from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. If there’s any you think we might have missed, tell us what they were in your comments.

To be honest, I never really stopped playing Oblivion. I take breaks from it while I play other games but I never uninstall it. It's a staple.

This guy has never played Oblivion, ever. Maybe the only Elder Scrolls game where I enjoyed 95% of quests the game offered. Not many people give Oblivion credit for the fact they didn't have many fetch quests, they had stories to each quest. Simply amazing.

The Bones found in the Troll ( from number #13) is a character you can interact with from Morrowind.
"This is one that a lot of people will know about" - this is said in roughly half of these 'secrets', and a couple of them are even just straight-up quests? How in the fucking hell are they secrets?

The first time I got the unicorn I rode it into some town but then it started killing everyone. I was like, yeah maybe I shouldn't ride the unicorn. XD

Umbra and the inn with NPC's wearing rare armors are honestly my favorite secrets of Oblivion

Some of the "random" NPC dialogue in Oblivion foreshadows the events leading up to Skyrim such as the Aldmeri Dominion going to war with the Empire.

Oblivion was the best Elder Scrolls. A good middle ground between the more in depth and rpg focused Morrowind, and the superior graphics/gameplay of Skyrim. Also had arguably the best quest design in any Bethesda game, and a oddly humorous tone, great art style, and fantastic soundtrack that made up a unique overall atmosphere. A masterpiece and somehow gets overlooked and slighted anymore, as people tend to either favor one of Morrowind or Skyrim.

I loved Oblivion. Skyrim is my favorite, but I feel Oblivion did several things better: The Dark Brotherhood felt more fleshed out in Oblivion, as did the Theives Guild. I also feel the main story of Oblivion was better done. What I hate about Skyrim is that you are forced to join a side, during that stupid temporary peace conference so you can capture Odahviing. Theu should have given you the option to say fuck you to both side and end the war in a different way, so you don't pick a side. The Last Dragonborn is almost a demi-god in terms of power, so they could have ended the war without being forced to choose a side. Oblivion had a better laid out main story. Also, I LOVE the quest Whodunnit? I always look forward to it when I replay Oblivionm

My point is, they should have had a third way to end the war without choosing a side, and since they didn't, the story in Oblivion feels more fleshed out and complete. That particular storyline in Skyrim doesn't feel well done. This is just my opinion.
there is a peace option in vanilla Skyrim, you just do the bare minimum missions for both sides and they'll make a peace treaty until the "dragon problem is taken care of"

I enjoyed the quest Shadow over Hackdirt. Not really a secret, but a nice homage to H.P. Lovecraft's Shadow over Innsmouth. Oh, and all the other references they make to his work. lol
oblivion > skyrim. had much more fun with oblivion with the classes and general gameplay. story was hell of a lot better too in my opinion. there where moments when I would restart the entire game just because I enjoyed the journey so much. Don't let the "game girls" and "elder scrolls fans" tell you different, oblivion is the better choice.

You didn't mention that the ghost troll at dive rock is actually a reference to the creature found in the Morrowind DLC Bloodmoon known as the Uderfrykte.
#13. The body parts of the woman is actually a person you can meet in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I don't know much about her story but she left Morrowind to hunt that same ice troll, but as we can see, she failed
there is a big one which was forgotten, I will give a clue, the death of a dark elf saint, slain in a burned building, but yet, no remains other then a head, his soul was taken in a black soul gem, and the Dragonborn helps this saint find his pages to his book for people to remember and read again

Mentions a weak, lame, giant mud crab but fails to mention the strong Giant Slaughterfish that you find in the Mages Guild Questline, at the bottom of a pool of water in a cave through the bedroom of a dark elfs room in the castle. It was either Fathis Aren or Dreth something I forget. But yeah, that's the type of quest that will make you wanna replay. NOT any of these lame ones. Or how about the journal you find in the Dark Brotherhoods final quest and it explains that the Mathieu guy trying to kill the Dark Mother actually had a solid reason as to why he wanted to join the Dark Brotherhood and systematically kill them off. Stick with me kids and you'll go places. I've been playing this game since I was in 6th grade and now I'm 23 years old playing it as we speak 😂 never gets old.

I mean. I can't really say any of these make me want to replay the game.
You should have shown some about getting and farming for certain rings and pieces of armour that basically turn you into an unkillable god, even on the highest difficulty. Like a max level mundane ring or the Morag Tong armour set or the amulet of swords/axes.
Has anyone mentioned the unicorn you can ride located around the Inn of Ill Omen? It isthe fastest mount in the game and it is surrounded by minotaurs but if you can sneak up to it then you can ride it.
Its not a secret tho its from a quest. Also you can ride it if you put your weapon away

You didn't even mention the fact that the bones inside the Uderfrykte are the bones of Svenja from Thirsk mead hall which you can visit in Morrowind, and meet her. Angar's journal details the whole event.

It makes me think of a particular Grateful Dead song called "U.S. Blues" that mentions Blue Suede Shoes very prominently. I had no idea Elvis even made a song about them. Forgot to mention the fin gleam helmet also gives water breathing. It's so deep and dark trying to find it you must continuously go back up for air in seconds of looking but once you find it you can equip it and stay under the water and night eye let's you see clearly in any dark water
The Shivering Isles was the best DLC I have ever played.

He doesn't even expand upon the 'ice troll' at Dive Rock. It called the Uderfrykte Matron and the remains found on it are from Svenja Snow-Song, a Nord from Solstheim you could actually interact with during Bloodmoon, one of the expansion packs of Morrowind.
I don't know why I'd expect him to try to pronounce Uderfrykte. He can't even say nirnroot properly.......

and the giant nirnroot, when you open your map, you'll find it where the S is at for Skingrad. where it says Skingrad on the map, the root is on the S. if you play as a wood elf it is taller than you are.

So I was playing oblivion and I was doing untaxing the poor and I went to the second floor for the tower and I saw guards attacking other guards without any armor on so I was like so uhh free better armor
