The Town of Hempstead, historically known as South Hempstead, is the largest of the three towns in Nassau County (alongside North Hempstead and Oyster Bay) in the U.S. state of New York. It occupies the southwestern part of the county, on the western half of Long Island. Twenty-two incorporated villages (one of which is named Hempstead) are completely or partially within the town. The town's combined population was 759,757 at the 2010 census, which is the majority of the population of the county and by far the largest of any town in New York. In 2019, its combined population increased to an estimated 759,793 according to the American Community Survey.
If Hempstead were to be incorporated as a city, it would be the second-largest city in New York, behind New York City; it is about three times the size of Buffalo, which has long been the state's second-largest city. It would be the 18th-largest city in the country, behind San Francisco, California, and ahead of Seattle, Washington. Hempstead is thus the most populous municipality in the New York metropolitan area outside New York City.
Hofstra University's main campus is located in the Town of Hempstead.
I use to live 25 mins away from Hempstead but now I live 30 mins away from Hempstead 😂
You bought back a lot of childhood and adult memories you drove past two of my sisters street one lived off of Westbury Blvd and the other off of Fulton Avenue that White Castle has been there longer then i can remember thank you for the trip down memory lane 😢
I grew up there back in the 70"s which looked a lot crappier than it does now. Saw where I lived and went to school

I used to live in Hempstead for 5 years and I always had to catch my bus to work at the Hempstead bus station. I loved living in Hempstead back then. It brought back good memories and it was a convenient area close to the bus station, Laundromat, post office and my bank Capital and Bethpage Credit Union on Fulton Ave 😊

I moved to Hempstead (Fulton Ave) from 1986 to 2008. This brings back found memories of going to Ludlum, the middle school and Hempstead High (class of 97).
You mislabeled the first street as Fulton Ave. When it was Front St. Surprised you didn't go all the way out to Oak St. to show Hofstra University or go up Franklin St. and show Dealer's Row.

I've visited Bay Shore several times & my friends and would always go to a club in West Hempstead - spent a few New Year's Eves there.
That club in West Hempstead is not Hempstead. It's not even really west hempstead! That area of west hempstead used to be called "Munson" an entrepreneur from the area who's projects/investments are responsible for building up the area from farmland. If you live in that area you are zoned for franklin square school district and serviced by the franklin square & munson fire department.
Well, you found Hempstead Transit Center & Hempstead LIRR. I basically call Hempstead the white plains of Long Island.

I realized I only had enough time to probably get one last town before leaving, I think I ended up choosing this one due to the centralized location. There were some very aggressive drivers encountered that I didn't get on video 😂.

Henry St is the ghetto i've only driven through there two times and saw some hood shit. One was a serious escalating argument but luckily a cop just happened to be driving by and I saw him staring suspiciously so he probably broke it up. 2nd time was a dealer arguing with a fiend.

Hempstead is also the most ghetto place in Long Island. The crimes are pretty high. But other than that, I like it!!
