    So I'm trying to make a drawing of the flat patterned helixed part. But I'm having trouble dimensioning it since it's not really a circle. What's the best way to dimension it and check out that it's correct? Cut it out and lay it on a 1:1 print?

    Thanks for your lessons. I am ordered two weeks of free program testing section. This lesson will help me because I doing almost similar things. But I am 99,9% sure that the flat steel part did not make one round of helix. If I cut a fully round circle and welded them together to drag them to the helix. The seam will be turning almost that much like your example shows, (After about 30 flat section you have about 29round of the helix) even the starting point was fully round. It is obvious. because the material perimeter does not enough, one full round of helix perimeter (girth) is longer than the same on the flat round. Therefore each flat round part after drag to helix makes less than one round helix. That's is not your false, the program makes it that way. Easy to follow your speech even I am speaking Finnish and intermediate English. Bye, the way -21 degrees outside right now.

    Can we increase the height or length of the helix/spiral instead of using pattern it.. Or is there no option for increasing length of the helix?? And while we using catia , there is a option for increasing / decreasing the length of the helix/spiral... Please clear my doubt in detailed information.

  • @JMC64483

    Why did you make this so hard you just need to make a second helical sketch with the OD of the flight then just convert the helixes to 3D sketches and skip the entire middle part

  • @SilasDrewchin
    @SilasDrewchin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I do not understand how the flattened form is less than a full rotation and each spiral section rotates 360 degrees and also travels in the z dimension. I feel like the flattened form should be more than a full rotation.. I wish I understood why now

    • @muthumanikya1847
      @muthumanikya1847 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may have found the reason, just incase. The reason for making flat pattern is to facilitate mark then cut or g code laser cut flat sheet metal. Spiral length beyond certain value of 1 revolution one round will cause an overlap in flat pattern which is not feasible and of no use. Another point is the flat pattern also looks round but the inner edge perimeter will be more than the cylinder OD perimeter where it was 3d sketched. When it is bent over the original dia pipe the flat sheet the radial edges end align along a single plane allowing for copying sections to increase length.
