It seems like a little bit of movie magic can accomplish anything, and it can even make people look like they’ve celebrated fewer birthdays. We’re going to be talking about actors who were too old to be cast as the roles they ended up with. Joe Keery reinvented the character of Steve on Stranger Things but he’s also way older than he should be. Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington starred in Game of Thrones despite the discrepancies between their years and their characters. On Riverdale, Charles Melton and Cole Sprouse are much too old to still be in school. Jennifer Lawrence usually pretends to be at a more advanced age and it almost cost her the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games! Ross Butler and Christian Navarro were in 13 Reasons Why and they were also some of the oldest kids in school. Rachel McAdams was desperate to be a part of Mean Girls even if she wasn’t quite at the right stage in life. Some stars like Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. took things to the next level when they portrayed teenage characters. And although you might not have realized it, Shirley Henderson was senior to Moaning Myrtle by over twenty years!

This video is a damn shame how they call these young adults old when they are doing nothing to harm anyone and doing their thing. I love these actors/Actresses with all my heart. These movies/shows wouldn't be the same without these well known and talented stars.

Almost no actor is the exact age. And “way older” is an exaggeration. Tom Holland was only 4 years older than the age. Which is actually quite close.

Well, they need adults to play teens depending on the film/show, because some scenes in movies and shows are too much for a teen to play, in some cases, even Illegal. A example is Riverdale because Riverdale has its lovey scenes and it’s teenagers, so it would be illegal which is why adults play teens. So I think it’s fine if actors are older than their roles
Plus if they were teens they would only be able to work a certain number of hours a week and they would legally be obligated to have schooling on set
@@itsvictoria47 This is the reason... 100% It's not the scene material as @super 313 said. Plenty of teens have played "controversial roles" in the past. It is the school time vs. filming times and child labor laws. So having 18-24 years olds play 15-18 year olds in High school dramas is perfectly normal and not that bad, just sometimes I think they need to pick actors with a baby face.... Like I am 36 and people mistake me for 20-24 all the time, I looked 15-17 until I was 32ish.

It is so true though teens are expected to look like these beautiful people in there late or early 20’s so these teens get self esteem issues!
As a teen which was less than 3 years or so years ago seeing and knowing these actors were older didn't effect me nor did it effect my pares. However my pares effect me more than that. So the age thing of the actors/actresses did not do much harm. I always looked up to them rather than made me feel bad. In fact these kids nowadays are doing their thing on social media these days more than I did and it's mostly Instagram , music videos , TH-camrs who share their luxury lives is to blame since kids don't watch as much tv as kids did when I grew up, these tv stars are talented as heck. Disney went down the toilet drain for me. Disney used to be amazing back in the early 2000s. Kid actresses / actors have so much potential however the directors or whoever making these kid shows sucks balls. I prefer the adults who played these roles as children til adulthood to play these roles because they know more than what the kids nowadays know because I think they haven't had enough experience. You may be a kid because your comment makes no sense however I'll let you be. These actors/actresses who happen to be adults are fine in my book my sister who is 7 loves them and if she's doing okay then I am as well. but then again I can't talk for everyone. But from my experiences i can't agree with you little one.

Okay, wait... What do you expect, nobody is perfect. They aren't gonna find a 15-year-old boy who has 10/10 acting and looks the part. Tom Holland was a perfect fit, they say wisdom comes with age and the older you get the more experience you have and the better you play the part. I can't imagine another person playing Spiderman better than Tom Holland does.

Most actors/actresses that play teenagers on soap operas are at least 18 due to labor laws and the fact juveniles can’t work as much.

Melissa Barrera in "Scream" (2022): She was 31 when she was in the movie but her character was supposed to be 25.
I actually like that the entertainment industry could be very toxic environment for kids to grow in so this makes feel comfortable i hope it happens more often
You're also forgetting about Paul Wesley on TVD, Stefan's 17 and Paul was 26/27 at the start of filming. Troian Bellisario was 23 when Spencer was 16 (when Allison disappeared September 2009).
You can't get everything perfect! No matter how different the ages are, we love them all too well!
Especially in shows such as riverdale or pll, none of the actors look like they're sixteen. I'm currently at that age and when compare my classmates to the actors, it's a huge difference. But since all teens in Hollywood are portrayed by older actors you're used to it and don't question it.
And yes, I know it's necessary.

Ok yes Tom was 19 and played a 14-year-old Peter Parker... but at least he LOOKED 14 years old. Tobey didn't look 17 or 18, he looked 27, same with Andrew. They tend to cast adults as teenagers because their voices don't change anymore

Actors/actresses playing teenagers are almost always over 20 years old, it's the norm, not the exception.
In my opinion it doesn't matter what age they are in real life just matters that they look like teens when they play a part of a teenager

20 year old actors who play teenagers isn't really that big of an age difference considering they're still coming fresh out of their teen years. Now, 29 year old actors who play 16 year old characters is a huge age difference. And also, I'm 31 years old and I've been mistaken for a lot younger, too, so apparently I can pull off playing a teenager or early 20 something, too. Lol.

tbh it's pretty normal for actors in their 20s to play teen roles. Because real teenagers can't play due to some intense scenes either sexual intimacy, smoking or drinking are often potrayed in teen movies/shows. most parents ain't gonna let their teenage kids take that role cuz they're too young. besides I wouldn't call Tom and Zendaya "Too Old". for me that" too old" would be if actors were actually cast to play teenagers but is around 30 or smth like that
