Congratulations Heather. I randomly picked your video to watch & was not disappointed. I have been preparing to hike the PCT for 11 years now. My youngest daughter just graduated university so now I can start saving money to start the hike in a year or two, hopefully when I turn 60. Your video was inspirational & I know my time will come.

Everybody has these moments while travelling, but i think especially the low moments are pretty hard to capture. But you did a great job capturing every moment. Well done video!

Pat Kithiraj what’s next? Live a life full of passion and purpose. Letting this be a highlight for the next 12months while I save for the TA in New Zealand. Until then, sticking to my local favourite outdoor places

Great video and looks like a great time though difficult at times. I'm just now learning about the PCT and have some questions so please don't think me too ignorant...just new. 1) What was the deal with the 2 times in the video you were riding in vehicles? Are there areas of the PCT where there is no trail and you have to get a ride or walk on public roadways? 2) How are so many people able to complete through hikes? Seems the average to complete is like 6 months. What kinds of jobs do people have that they are able to take off that much time? Unless they are wealthy and work for themselves I just don't see how I would ever be able to do that and keep my full time job. Seems many are from countries other than the United States. My last career I had 6 weeks vacation per year and my current one I have 2 weeks per year. Thanks for any answers.

Alanna Ahlquist Wow so many questions, I’ll try my best to keep it brief.
      1. I was in cars many more times than this. The easiest way to get to most towns to resupply your food and any gear is by hitch hiking. I also flip flopped through the Sierras (drive ahead, walked backwards, drove ahead again) and skipped a section with fire closures and smoke. The trail is all path, aside from one or two trail closures (fire or frogs) where there is a road walk alternative.
      2. Like most others, I quit my job to hike. Some people have good relationships with bosses or own their business. I was looking for a change of workplace so didn’t investigate return options. I’ve come back and gotten a new job in my industry. Ultimately...save save save, that’s what I did!
      3. I blogged the whole way which might answer some more of your questions www.thisramblingrover.com

Nice vid! I did the PCT in 2017 and the first scene above the McDonald's and Cajon Pass? Well I found out a whole year later that it is smack dab in the middle of the San Andreas earthquake fault. That's why the hills and valleys there look all broken up.

Yeah I didn't originally plan on doing a video so had no good footage from the start... imagine how long this would be if I got it all!

Heather!!! I'm guessing here, but pretty sure... AKA 'River'; am I right? I kept feeling 'Man, she looks familiar'! as I was watching the vid. Finally, in the pose at the Monument... I saw the can of 'Dale's' IPA that I gave your friend at Rainy Pass!! I think that was 8/31, the day the reroute was first opened to the Border! Everybody was SO happy! And those 'pulled pork' sandwiches were yummy! It was great meeting you all, and a huge CONGRATULATIONS! finishing your journey!! Best wishes, Skagit Ed
