You must have used this M18 smoke grenade to escape from your opponents. But how does it produce so much smoke? Let's understand the science behind this amazing technology.
Most probably, this M18 military grenade must have been used by you to hide your movement, and indicate your location to your teammates.
When we pull the safety pin and throw this smoke grenade to use it, three actions take place inside the grenade.
First: This lever gets apart from the grenade.
Second: This striker which was held at its position by the lever and the safety pin, will get free and hit the primer.
Third: As soon as the striker hits the primer, a spark takes place, which further ignites the starter mixture. Following the chain, this starter mixture then ignites the main colored smoke mixture. This complete process leads to the production of a lot of smoke which escapes out of the grenade from a hole situated at the base of the grenade. This smoke leads to the formation of a dense smoke cloud.
A military smoke M18 smoke grenade is capable of releasing the smoke for around 90 seconds.
