So this is your first bike, I've been riding for 35 years and we all think accidents happen to others especially when we are young but they can happen in an instant from being rear ended to someone paying too much attention to their phone, oil on the road, the list is endless. If you hit the tarmac even at slow speeds in a t-shirt, joggers and trainers the damage will be catastrophic, bare skin will be down to the bone in seconds. Gear doesn't give you a force field around you but may well save your life or at least limit the damage if the worst happens. Please seriously think about covering up, get some gear and be safe.
I normally wear gear. It’s too hot out in my area for long sleeves and a full jacket I wear a turtle shell to protect my back and chest and gloves for my hands as well as my helmet all the time. If my arms get damaged then that’s on me. But comfort matters as well.
@@thesuburbanGenny Well it's your body and your choice my friend there are many mesh options out there for hot weather riding and if your hot you can always cool down if your permanently disfigured or crippled that's a little more serious.
Nice video and nice bike. I ride a 2020 MT-03, myself, in the all-black color scheme. It's the same as your 2021 in specifications. I've owned it since March of last year and it currently has about 4,400 miles on it. My comments on a couple of areas: This month makes 40 years that I've been riding motorcycles. (Holy crap! 40 years, already. Time flies.) I don't think of or consider my MT-03 a beginner's bike. I think of it as my street bike or my sport bike (I also ride dirt bikes and dual-purpose bikes). Believe it or not, when I'm out riding the MT-03, I actually forget the engine is only 321cc. I think that's because the bike is capable of doing everything I want to do pretty easily. I've owned four 1,000cc, 4-cylindered sport bikes in the past (two YZF-R1s and two FZ-1s). You know what? I don't miss them as the MT-03 does it for me very well being light, maneuverable, and quite quick in acceleration. As for the brakes being wooden: I first heard the term "wooden" as applied to describe brakes back in the mid-1990s while reading British sport bike magazines. Then, after not seeing or hearing that term for quite a while, I suddenly heard it several times last year from several TH-cam channels describing the MT-03 front brakes. At the time, I was riding a 2020 Honda CB300R, a nice-looking 286cc single-cylinder street bike with Honda's "Neo Retro Cafe" styling. I'd owned that bike from October of 2019, long enough to realize the front brake on that CB was truly dismal. Dismal as in lacking any kind of braking power, and it was the sole gripe i had with the bike that I'd consider a deal-breaker. Yes, it was that bad. When I had the opportunity to trade my 5-month-old CB300R back in toward the 2020 MT-03 that had just hit the showroom floor in March of 2020, I jumped at it. When i got my MT-03 home and was prepping the bike for my first ride on it, I cleaned the front brake rotor with brake cleaner before I hit the road for my maiden voyage. Compared to the CB300R front brake, the MT-03 brake felt like MotoGP equipment - MUCH better in performance and I was so glad to once again have a sport bike with a front brake that actually braked on demand. A couple of weeks later, I changed to EBC HH-Rated front pads and bled the brake fluid while I was at it - it got even better, and that is how I'm still riding it, today. I also changed to the R6 throttle tube. Otherwise, my MT-03 is stock. So, good video and enjoy your MT-03.
Thanks for all the info and support on the channel it helps me out a ton I’m considering the same brake pads for mine! Definitely way more stuff to come for this bike it’s an amazing work of art for a 300 series bike definitely outweighs its competitors in the same category

75 year young, I ride every day in the Tropics, my 192 Kg 660 cc Yamaha 2010 MT03. If in 5 years, I'm still in good shape, I think I'll get a 320 cc new MT03, 2 cm lower & 28 kg lighter 😁😁😁

I would’ve thought the Duke was quicker since it has more engine displacement lol but god to know!
