    You're such a good teacher Glenda. I have tried Tunisian crochet but I get frustrated because of the curl. I'll keep trying though. I like this stitch pattern. Thanks!

    I like to do this using the crochenit technique with a double-ended crochet hook using two colors creating a reversible pattern. Using a double-ended hook keeps the project from curling too. For example, if I use blue and yellow yarn. One side would be blue with the Jacob's ladder in yellow, and the opposite side would be yellow with the Jacob's ladder in blue. I actually make chains to form the Jacob's ladder the same as with the regular crochet pattern.

    I used to hate Tunisian crochet bc of the curl….but I learned to block my work, I am making sample squares for a blanket and I will do this one, so excited to try this one! Glenda I have made 3 blocks using 38 chains and I have to figure out how I can do this. You are an amazing teacher. Ty so much😊

    Love this in the cream/white. It shows the stitches without detracting from it with color. Thanks for all the work you put in, always.

    I’m glad I watched this tutorial from you. You have been a good teacher in many ways I’m 75 and I’m still learning however this Jacob‘s ladder is very interesting and I enjoyed watching you just one question for you when I go into the back which I do for all my crocheting to make a nice border in those bumps my crochet line always is already turned. I don’t have to go back to the frontand turn it to go back to the bump am I doing something wrong or is it just the way that I’m doing it is OK just wanna learn more. Hope mom is doing good and that you are doing fine. Have been gone for quite a while been very sick.

    Hi Glenda. It's very interesting. I tried it many years ago with small squares and it didn't curl as much. However, I would assume using this Tunisian crochet would be ideal for making cushions/ covers as you can control the curlying more when joining all sides.🌻

    I can't do the Tunisan stitches because I hold both my hook & working yarn in one hand. But it is so pretty.

  • @debishipman2761

    Tunisian is so beautiful and you can do very intricate work, but I can barely make it through an afghan going across a row once let alone twice lol

    I’ve tried a little Tunisian crochet in the past but I was always put off by the curling of it, So I put my hooks away. Maybe I should try getting my hooks out again and try this cute pattern then try blocking it afterwards and see how it looks. 😊

    • @StormCaller5
      @StormCaller5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There's lots of things you can do to reduce curling. Definitely using a larger hook helps. Go two sizes up from the regular hook recommendation. Also crocheting a border will make it lay flatter.

    I love Tunisian work and this stitch is lovely. I'm trying to get some decent hooks and yours is what I'm looking for. Can I ask the brand and where to get them from please.

    • @CreativeGrandma
      @CreativeGrandma  ปีที่แล้ว

      The brand I use are no longer sold I use the larger hooks which were sold by Annie's years ago and are no longer available and I use the Vintage Susan Bates IN-line hook which are no longer made in the in-line style. You can find them on etsy or ebay sometimes when you get real lucky I watch for them all the time.

    Interesting pattern. Love tunisian. The tunusian/pearl does not roll. Makes a pretty pattern. Also the tunisian knit stitch doesnt roll. Wonder if a border would help with the slight roll. The roll in tunisian does bug me. But its such a pretty stitch. Have to block regular tunisian so hot that flattens the yarn. Only thing I found to flatten regular tunisian. Thanks for pattern idea

    Very pretty stitch. Do you have to block every time you do Tunisian Crochet? I can't wait to get started. I just have to finish 5 wips 🙄🤣 Ty Glenda! ❤️

    Ms. Glenda I find this very interesting. The first time I’m ever seeing this type of crochet. I have a question, if I may. Am I correct in thinking that you can only make a piece as wide as the hook? In regular crochet you make a chain as long as you want your project wide. Here it seems to me that you can only go so wide, but very long if a choice. So what can be made with something so narrow other than a scarf, or pot holder? I apologize for my ignorance with this new skill.🫢 Thank you for being an excellent teacher.🙏

      Hello, to make a larger project you would need to use a afghan cable crochet hook that has a cable on the end so you can add more stitches. They come in different cable lengths depending on what you want to make.

    I love this stitch but what if I want to make a bigger afghan . . . how can I do this if using a hook like what you have? Thanks for sharing!

    • @CreativeGrandma
      @CreativeGrandma  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would use a afghan cable hook where the hook has a plastic cable in different lengths to make a larger project like an afghan, you can find them on amazon

    I just don't like the way it curls.
    I've tried tunisian several different times, with different hook sizes.
    I just can't get past the curl.
    Bugs me really bad. 😂
    That being said, I love this stitch pattern.

      I trick I use is to take slight weighted stitch markers along the bottom every five or ten stitch it helps a lot to keep the work out of the way and lay flat when done.
