That's a good throwback to his character on Everybody loves raymond. There was an episode where he was afraid to be happy he had to go do a report in Alaska and he was happy to be miserable.
The fact that the camera operator bothered to pull focus for the couple of frames that Will Arnett was looking behind himself and then returned focus back to him is an insane level of skill. It shows how the camera operators really are aware of everything that’s going to happen in the script and basically nothing is actually improvised. Reminds me of the directors for Arrested Development telling all the camera operators to follow the action rather than leading it. The Office gives us a different feeling mockumentary by letting the camera lead us to a few more jokes than other shows using the same style.
