(14/7) arrived separately at the wedding of the Queen's neice, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones to artist Daniel Chatto, 37, at a small 17th-century church in London's City financial district.
Lady Armstrong-Jones wore a long, white silk gown designed by British
designer Jasper Conran with fashionable Manolo Blahnik shoes and
carried a bouquet of old English roses.

Lady Sarah’s dress has been my all time favorite of them all.
She was one of the nicest royal brides. Loved the simplicity of her dress

Do you mean Lady SArah Armstrong Jones dress here in this video or Diana's dress. I love this dress it is astounding. I found Diana's dress OTT and as we all know, crumpled which is a shame. It was an OTT era so not her fault but this dress in this video I feel is just right. the train isn't too long and it flows and her figure is perfect for the design.

To those who are wondering, the bride is Lady Sarah Chatto (née Armstrong-Jones), she is the daughter of Princess Margaret making her the Queen's only niece. She is also reported to be the Queen's favorite family member and she is very close to her first cousin, King Charles III.

This lady is the nearest you can get to being a Princess by birth without officially being one. Very down to earth and unassuming person, you just wish her first cousins were like her and her brother!
Not quite sure if that's true. She was born to a Princess and her Father was given an Earldom on marriage to the Princess Margaret. Zara Phillips is a granddaughter of the living and Reigning Monarch but has no official title. Lady Sarah Chato nee Armstrong Jones is the granddaughter of a Dowager Queen who was consort to a predeceased King. Royal titles are complicated however Zara Phillips would be closer to being a Princess than Lady Sarah Chato could ever have been.
Flughafenkaiser : Lady Sarah Chatto and Princess Anne are both blood royal and are of equal status by birth, both born to a blood royal Princess’s and both granddaughters of a King. It so happened that Princess Margaret wished her children not to bought up as royals. Quite rightly Anne is an HRH and titled a Princess as she is the daughter of the sovereign. When Princess Margaret married Anthony Armstrong-Jones he wished not to take a title, his Earldom was bestowed on him by the Queen when he and Margaret had there first child David. Though he was called a commoner, he is of the aristocracy as was the Queen’s and Margaret’s mother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon when she married the then Duke of York. The same applies to Zara and Peter Philips, Anne wished her children not to be bought up as royals hence they do not have titles, unlike their first cousins.

Very true what is admirable about her is that her childhood was harsh, her parents were horrible, Princess Margaret spend her time boozing vacationing and her father was chasing skirts and both were having affairs and didn't give the kids a stable home. For anyone who criticizes Elizabeth especially her own kids for not being a warm mother only need to look at how she treated Margaret children, Aunt Elizabeth stepped in to give support their own mother didn't. It is shocking how well the kids turned out, instead of damaged.
Since the 1917 Letters Patent (LP) enacted by George V, it limited the lines of succession and the use of His/Her Royal Highness (HRH) title to male-line descendants. This is to prevent the abuse of privilege of the HRH and to limit the claimants to the throne as Queen Victoria had too many descendants, including a lot of the German relations having to anglicize their titles or be stripped off it due to the sour British-German relations during WW1 (Prince Philip’s uncle, Lord Mountbatten, was born a prince but because of this his father had to anglicize his name and take a lower rank of peerage). There has been revisions of this rule by the time Princess Elizabeth became heir apparent and so her father, George VI, released a new LP to have her children styled as HRH and to her grandchildren of the male line enjoy such title.
However, this was not accorded to Princess Margaret or to her niece, Princess Anne. Therefore, the titles come from the father, the same way that their aunt, Princess Mary, Princess Royal who married the Earl of Harewood, and their children enjoy the style and courtesy of an earl’s son and daughter. Antony Armstrong-Jones, Margaret’s then husband, was bestowed the title the Earl of Snowdon (with Viscount Linley as courtesy title to the heir) and now the earldom was passed to their son David who is now the 2nd Earl of Snowdon (although in his furniture business, Linley, he uses David Linley as that he was known for many years before his father died in 2017). Had Captain Mark Phillips, Princess Anne’s ex-husband took a peerage, Peter Phillips would be using the courtesy title of a viscount and Zara will be styled as Lady Zara.

I loved how the crown just started cheering when Princess Di got out of the car, more robust applause and cheering for her that for the queen spoke volumes! The the period wedding dress was beautiful but the bride & groom could have at least waved a bit, after all they are pretty much financially supported by the people of England.

She is still married fortunately had been for 28 years last July she and her hubby celebrated another wedding anniversary and has two kids 26 and 23 both adults soon she will become a grandmother
Without doubt The Lady Sarah’s wedding gown was and remains being, the most elegant gown worn by a member of the Royal Family or of a bride marrying into the RF . She has a natural elegance which serves to enhance her elegant wardrobe and character . Unfortunately ,there have been some frightful wedding horrors ,two in particular and one being only fairly recently. And The Queen still very much in the days before Angela Kelly - the lady whom so dramatically transformed The Queen’s wardrobe and presentation.
I've always wondered if she was brought in to help the Queen's image after Diana's wardrobe success.
@@solamano7239 In answer to your sensible comment …….. even pre Diana , it had for a long time , been the case that in close circles, comments were being made which eventually , finally persuaded the Queen to realise and accept that she needed to appoint someone of real ability in design and couture and to accept that her own ideas were really rather too ……. (I dare’nt say what was said which was true) hence I’ll say more redolent of the apocryphal “ Lady Mayoress” of the “ very MC Home Counties “ on a Sunday ! Hence the promotion of Angela Kelly from just being a “dresser” to the position of designer- for AK has an innate instinct for tailoring, colour and fabrics. I think AK did a magnificent job !

See the difference in cheers when Diana came out vs the silence with Charles lol. This was at the height of their estrangement when the world knew about the affairs and separation but their divorce hasnt been finalized yet.

Long ago the queens niece was married. She was quoted as saying, I'm so tired of waving to people. Prince Andrew was really like that. He used to say, there's too many common people. I don't want to wave mummy. It's boring .
