I have a cousin that moved to Rome when he was little and got to grow to be more Italian than American although he spoke English and was thought American culture. I am not a big soccer fan but I always went to Italy on summer’s and asked him “what do you like the most about living in Italy” weirdly for me he always said “going to stadio to olimpico and watch il capitano”. That guy inspired people, like my cousin. To me, there is no bigger legacy.

  • @byDidi97

The one and only Totti! This man epitomises what a true N10, a true captain and a true leader should look like. As I'm no fan of Roma, I grew up watching their matches because of him and he'll always be Rome's greatest! Shame that all committed players like him retire and football is left with youngsters who are led by the lust for money, trophies and fame. The romance in football is dead. But everyone will secretly hope that there will be someone like Totti in their club. A man who could've had it all in his career but he devoted his life to his beloved Roma. Storia de un amore infinito. Grazie Francesco, Il Re di Roma! ❤️

The Augustus of A.S. Roma footballing history. A true testament to the unwavering loyalty and passion; what a magnificent career! I'm glad he managed to win the World Cup in 2006 with the national side. His retirement after the tourament is what helped him play another 11 years. 250 goals! He'll be massively missed - cult-hero
I have to admit, it will be very strange watching Roma play without Totti in the squad. His legacy and place alongside the greats in the pantheon of Italian football is secured.
Thanks for the memories Francesco Totti, one of the greats.

It’s easy to be someone like Ryan Giggs, Maldini and Bobby Charlton to be a one club footballer when your team is usually winning the league and UCL. But to be as talented as Totti and to decide to stay with Roma when he had offers to join Real as a Galactico to join Abramovich’s Chelsea and even Bayern, is truly nothing but loyalty and love. He loves Roma and they love him too. Never had a more perfect match. He made Roma a second club for me and many others. The true Roman Emperor, Francesco Totti.

I love Totti he is in my 3 favorite players of all time and as a Roma fan it was painful knowing his career came to come to a close I remember my first ever time time seeing him play was during the 2006 copa italia final when we beat inter 7-4 on aggregate him scoring in the first minute and us demolishing inter in that final, I remember when he scored a wonder goal against Sampadoria , and his thunder strike against Juventus, he was warrior and a magician the touch and flare he had made him iconic, I remember when he scored a last minute penalty to both knock Australia out of the world cup and to beat sampadoria this year. He is Roma and as long as Roma is around so will he Te AMO Totti tu eres el captiano eterno!!! Forza Roma

Anyone from Barcelona of that period is hard to like.
Their style of play was strictly thrived off the Dutch, so any Spaniard in a modern era is to be thankful for another culture of football (Dutch), for doing so well.
Diving and the fact Puyol played in a terrible league, not doing particularly well internationally, also reflects the overall feel to him as a player.
He wasn't even great at defending anyway.

The first time i watched it a few days before his last game i bursted out in tears even though i never supported As Roma, and even now nearly 2 years later my eyes get watery. Honest emotions, every interview is full of passion and poetry even though english isnt their native language. Its just amazing how something trivial like football can teach us so many important values/needs for life in general. Passion, Loyalty, Identity, Companionship, Tradition, Heritage these intangiable values are the things that really matter to us humans not things and possesions.
