- The Winnipeg Jets just made NHL history! The Jets finished last season 4th in the league and with one of if not the best goaltenders in Connor Hellebuyck, it came as a massive surprise when they made NHL history for all the wrong reasons. They were the first team to allow 5 goals in each of their first 5 post season games getting eliminated in the first round again. However, after starting this year 8-0 and coming into tonights matchup 13-1 in their first 14 games to start the season, they came into todays matchup against the Dallas Stars looking to make history. The record for the best start to an NHL season was held by the 07-08 Ottawa Senators who went 13-1 in their first 14 games. With Winnipeg just needing 1 win to break that record, they played possibly their best game of the season. I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

Are the Jets for real this year?
Maybe?
clearly
Hell nah
Spose we’ll know when the playoffs hit.
No
First, "Where is Rutger?" then "US Backup"... Man this is gonna be a good year for savage chants.
Could be awhile before we see him, he's in the AHL right now.... gotta laugh at that, he wanted a trade because the Jets wouldn't put him on the first line. Wounder, how he likes playing in the AHL instead of the #1 team.
The Jets fans deserve a cup for the best chirps in the league.
I loved “where is Rutger?” That’s exactly what that arrogant prick deserved.
@@46babaganoosh He's stated on record the Penguins never guaranteed him a roster spot. He left Winnipeg because he didn't want to be there
And they are clean, not repulsive with there chirps!
NHL record breaking start. Bombers in the Grey Cup. Winnipeg sports teams are COOKING!
Yeah Fr. I was at the bomber game.
And i can live throught this im winnipeg born LESS GOO WINNIPEG
Great weather too. This is our year boys
The Goldeyes (baseball team) are also very very good
Grey cup is that like a drinking game ….?
The one announcer at first thought that they were saying "Use your backup." Which would have been a good chant, but the other announcer corrected him that it was U.S. Backup, which they both agreed was even better
golden hahaha
As a Sharks fan, Winnipeg fans are absolutely insane and I love y'all hope the Jets bring home a cup
They are a long-suffering group and deserve to have some fun.
Probably also sharks need some help
Congrats Jets fans. You guys deserve it. Happy for you guys. -Oilers fan
Sure appreciate seeing posts like yours, Squatle!! It's been alot of fun watching our boys get all these wins and it's not looking like it's going to die out anytime soon.
As someone who became a hockey fan in the 92-93 season when Teemu Selanne scored 76 goals as a rookie, only to see the team leave town a couple years later...this has been a long time coming, but Winnipeg at least feels like a legit contender for the cup this year.
"U.S. backup!" Jets fans are so funny man 😂😂😂
Congratulations to the Jets' franchise and fans! As a longtime Canucks' fan, I understand how heartbreaking it can be to be a true hockey fan and to stick with your team through the lows while hoping for some highs along the way. Jets fans have long deserved some real team success again. Hopefully, Paul Maurice's wish for a Cup for your team comes to fruition! All the best, Winnipeg!
Thank you for your kind words!! Greatly appreciated!
Wow, not everyone hates the jets for no reason. This is amazing. Hope the Canucks do well too!
God I hope the Jets are for real this year. It may be weird that I love this team as much as I do as an American fan, but I would love nothing more than to see a deep playoff run for this team this year. The Jets are an absolute wagon right now! Go Jets Go! ✈️
im from atlanta, gf from manitoba got me into the jets and hockey in general (im more passionate than her now lol). To give you the ease of mind the jets used to be the atlanta thrashers! Go Jets Go!
The Jets were Jets before they were the Thrashers@@sulfer8719
Too early . Good start doesn’t mean a good ending
@davebernard2951 Wow, aren't you a genius figuring that one out.😂😂
DeSmith such an underrated goalie
Don't forget last year they overused Hellybuck. He played almost 70 games and was absolutely gassed by the time the playoffs rolled around and had nothing left. They won't make that same mistake twice and need to keep him fresh to make a run. One thing in common all teams have that make a deep playoff run regardless of their offensive/defensive prowess is riding a hot goalie. It's the common denominator. This is also the best looking Jets team since they came back to Winnipeg.
The PP, the energy, effort, skating, speed and chemistry is all on balance the best yet. Virtually all homegrown/drafted guys that have all bought in and WANT to be there which is huge. That's half the battle. The cup is the hardest trophy in sports to win, nothing is guaranteed and nothing is won on paper just because X team has all the big names. This could be Winnipeg's coming out party like the mid 90s Devils. That club also had ~14 years of mediocrity and playoff disappointments after moving from Colorado in 81/82 before getting over the hump.
As a Jets fan, I’m absolutely ecstatic and I have no idea what’s going on
You and me both buddy
Now two months later, and they're still on top.
Congratulations from Vancouver.
We've been saying for years that the Jets have the talent to be way better than they are. Now they're living up to it. Lets see how it goes.
The biggest boon this year has been the special teams especially compared to last year.
Nah yall were always the big dumb team that relied on its goaltending.good job being actually good this year thou
@@36inc Thou needs to learn how to spell if thou is gonna accuse people of being dumb, though.
@@guhr1dy Right , cause that wasnt an intentional shortening that you easily extrapolated from, but this is the only chink in the armor you could counter with so you end up sounding really really starved for wit.

@@36incCope harder😂. Goaltending is part of hockey, remember that when you cry over Helly’s performances
Even after the 14 wins from the 1st 15 games the Jets fans are still more humble & realistic than the Leafs, Canadiens & Canuck fan bases! I realise after writing that; QQQ the snide comments from the entitled 1s who snipe at any team but theirs having an awesome time! Thank You Winnipeg for entertaining us & keeping it real.
The Jets just got bored of winning and decided to try seeing what losing was like for once. They didn't like it, and now they're sticking with winning
Paul Maurice might be God himself if the Jets win the cup
Correction from the top of the video, Scott Arniel was associate coach, not assistant coach. Bowness was clearly head coach, but he's an older man, and took multiple stints away from the team last year. His retirement was inevitable, and Arniel had all but locked up his job on the bench before Bones made his announcement.
Love the Jet's!!!!! Let's go.
And lets go bombers.
Hello to Tarn at Polo Park Jets store. Thank you Tarn. Jets hoodie is awesome 👌.Got to get to the Peg for a game. What incredible fans!!! and hockey club.
I was wrong too, obviously I had hope but God damn this is not what I was expecting. Love my jets and I'm really enjoying watching these games!
I hope the Jets keep the momentum they got a tough schedule ahead with the Rangers, Lightning, and 2 games with the Panthers

how are jets fans finding so many good chirps 😂

They just feeling good rn. But damn that was savage.

Diehard hockey fan, Blackhawks fave - ive loved the Jets through all their moves, they always seemed to have what announcers called a mediocre team but sometimes would elevate those same "mid" players to star status by competently putting together SOLID lines with great team chemistry to overcome a perceived lack of skill. Andrew Ladd as a captain? Became a rock. Buff as an alternate? Started playing up to skills we didn't know he had as a Hawk and they pressed themselves into playoffs 2015 without any bonafied prime star power. The Thrashers/Jets has always been fun.
The 1 game they lost, they still put up 4 goals
14-1-0-0 Woo go jets go
I was at that game jets and the stars it was awesome
People always slept on the jets when they’re never been a bad team. Nice to see everyone talking about them
This team is different. They’ve already proven themselves to be real. Those who still say otherwise are just in denial. They’re mature, can stay calm, structured, defensive and most importantly humble. They don’t look at the stats they have now and relax, they keep it going as if every night is a must win!
Aaaah so that's what a solid power play looks like, very impressive. - Canadiens fan here wiping away tears
Laine will help you with that once he's fully healed from his injury, I can promise you that. He did that on the Jets too.
When was the last time an AHL team faced the same NHL team affiliate just was at the Texas stars and Manitoba Moose game tonight
U.S back up is a nice chirp... I mean yes it s a jab...but also a compliment.
It only worked because Helly was in the other net. I was there, it was so damn electric.

The Jets is low-key Canada’s team. No real Canadian rival.
@@patrickr4762 fax dude
I feel all of Canada can get behind a Winnipeg Jets team in the Finals
lol no they won't...far, FAR too many bitter people about a small market team even existing, let alone succeeding. Most of the bitterness comes from Toronto and "most of the rest" comes from Edmonton. It would be great to have all fanbases root for the Jets if they were in the Cup final, but there are too many people out there who won't accept it. Most decent folk root for the underdog, but some people enjoy bashing underdogs...prolly because they hate puppies, too.
Yeah - there's no way...
Was at this game me and my brother were wondering what that chant was lmfao
LOL yah I don't know who comes up with those taunts but man, it would have been a tough night for anyone targeted by the crowd for sure. I was there too, knew it meant that Oettinger would be backing up Helle in the upcoming 4 nations faceoff in February. And then when DeSmith was out there, the chant "We want Otter" was going round! LOL such a fun time!!
@ lmfao whole stadium clowned Dallas rip 😂
The Jets lost to the Maple Leafs at home. It was at Canada Life Centre not Scotiabank Arena.
You're right, I was at the game in Winnipeg. The Jets wore white as a courtesy to the Leafs, who wanted to wear their black heritage jerseys.
Fyi that loss against Toronto wasn’t a road game. My understanding of it was since it was on Amazon prime that night so Winnipeg was asked to wear their whites so Toronto could wear those Justin Bieber jerseys despite the game being in Winnipeg. In other words yes it was a Winnipeg home game
What's with all the Leaf's fans at Jet home games?
It as "home road" game, in that the team had a brief layover in their home city to play a single game before jetting off again. Probably feels like one long road trip to the players. The Jets have two more of those one-off home games in the upcoming stretch. Silly schedule.
@@kathygreenlay73My assumption is that because the Jets were absent for so many years, people got attached to the Leafs, and have still stuck with them even after the Jets’ return
@@rascallygoose4926 Much like child abuse is cyclical and difficult to break many Manitoba farmers are Leafs fans going back generations their great great grandpa was a Leafs fan and that evil cycle has continued through each successive generation. I was at the Jets Leafs game last season and talked to the Leafs fan sitting behind. He said he would be able to afford a seat in that good of position to the ice in Toronto.
They could choke soon but it’s good that a Canadian team is doing good
At this point, having the Jets' powerplay drop from 43ish % to 39% would be considered a "choke" by some truly bitter people.
@ that’s not what I’m talking about bro :/
@@quixPPG I know what you're talking about, bro...like everyone else you're injecting negativity into a great achievement by a Canadian team. Like everyone else, you're "happy for the Jets" but you're not really. What I'm talking about bro is that everyone is a doubter, and they're looking for any way to undermine what's happening. It seems impossible for some people to just be happy about what's happening.
@@Robert-Peterson Did you even watch the first round? The jets are not my favourite team but I do not hate them. I’m a Canadian and it’s good that an American team is not getting all this success like usual. I’m just saying that they could fall back down the earth.
@@quixPPG Of COURSE they're going to "fall back to Earth". Who in the world is saying they won't? Oh yeah...all those "serious posts" where people say "81-1-0" and "Jets will never lose again".
Those are not serious posts. You get that, right? Ask any Jets fan or any Jets player and you'll get the same answer: We haven't accomplished anything yet. Jets fans are indeed grounded and we're all pretty certain the Jets will not win every game, score 6 goals every second game and score 2 PP goals every game. We KNOW it won't last...so why the heck do you claiming people need to come back to reality when all they're doing is enjoying an historical event? Nobody's planning the parade in Winnipeg just yet, I guarantee that.
You are making an argument against something that doesn't exist.
Could have chanted "US backup" for DeSmith too but, of course that's a compliment...
Fan chants seem be reaching new levels of sophistication this season.
US backup. Ouch.

And keep in mind the Penguins didn’t think DeSmith was worth keeping. Although the Penguins have bigger problems than that, it’s systemic. Great job on the record Jets!!
Jets Season Ticket Holder here. It's been a rough road, but it's been fun. Can't wait to see what the future holds! Thanks for all the kind comments!

As a Pens fan, I wish they'd kept DeSmith!
im going to the game vs the rangers tmrw and i promise laf puttin a stop to all this
I’m an Edmonton fan but Winnipeg is a damn good team.
In a completely hypothetical world with Demko 100% healthy, wouldn't he be the backup to Hellybuck?
More than likely he would be.
Great start, but how do they finish?
The Jets look so much better in their "fake retro" sweaters than in their new ones. They actually look like the Jets. I still hate that F-16 on an RCAF roundel logo because we never had F-16s. I would LOVE to see the Jets win the cup this year and I say that as a Habs fan.
Can’t wait to see what kind of chant the Jets fans have in store for my leafs when they go there for Christmas Eve Eve
And Scheifle is an inspiration to his teammates… they all look up to him
Rangers vs. Jets Final
Rangers mid
Rangers gonna struggle to get out of the second round - their defense is brutal - can't rely on Igor and Quickie standing on their heads every night, especially in the playoffs.
I'd take that matchup any day!
It fells like when ever the backup goalie gets Put in the he makes like flowers prime time saves.
Best team, best chirps, best place to get your bike stolen, we got it all!! Let’s go Winnipeg!
It would be cool to see a goalie MVP in Hellebuyck. I doubt it with the amount of points players have been putting up but it would be impressive.
A first round exit is gonna destroy that fan base if it happens again
It won't. Just as the Oilers losing 2 Game 7s in the Finals in their last 2 appearances 06 and last year. Or Calgary getting robbed in Game 7 in 04. The only Bandwagon fans in Canada IMHO are Canucks and Leafs fans. And the former riot everytime they lose a tough series and you see lots of empty seats after. Winnipeg has some of the best fans in the league, let alone Canada. The return of the team 15 seasons ago rejuvenated that city. Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton have the best fans in Canada. Just my perception as an American watching hockey for 30 years. Teams hate going up there on the road, big home ice advantage.
@ you’re right, that was a bad way to say it. I should have just said it would be devastating just because of how good they look. Jets fans are electric
😂 U.S. backup
ive been using the jets as a measuring stick on how good my hawks are doing....they hung. i was very impressed. holy the jets are for real right now. if jesse shuts up about the wagon on tsn they might have a hope! lol
RESPECT THE JETS
Let's see how they do in the first round. Hot starts to the season generally don't roll the entire season. They will come back to earth at some point
You're completely missing the point that we are 15 games into the 82 game season and 14/15 games are wins for a club many pundits claimed would not make the post season. We love nothing more than to make those people eat their words and revise their original thoughts. All we're saying is "Don't underestimate what this team can do". Nobody's planning the parade yet.
All this is, is celebrating that Jets made history yesterday by winning 14/15 games to start the season, which no other team in NHL history has done until yesterday. That's worth celebrating!
Hopefully the Jets will finally have an arch rival.
I appreciate your enthusiasm , but the season is young.
The jets have proven they lose a lot at the end of the year. When it counts.
Well if you actually look at their stats, you will find out that statement is 100% incorrect. 8 wins in 8 games to end the regular season is as good an ending to a season as you can get.
Hellebuyck has choked in the playoffs every year he's been in. I can't see that changing this year.
I guess you have been following the Jets for very long.
I can.
Did you just skip watching the 2017-2018 playoffs
jets went to the conference final in 2018
Don't think you've been following them then. They were one of the last 4 teams standing in 2017/18 and that was with Helle in goal. Then in 2021 we swept the Oilers and went on to Division finals. We've made playoffs every year since 2017/18 except 2022/23 when we lost the coach at Christmas and had an interim coach the rest of the year. Otherwise Jets have always been in the post season.
Their PDO is 1.072 and their 5v5 GF% is 68.3 yet their xGF% is only 51.3. Now that doesn't mean the Jets aren't truly a good team and nobody thought they were going to go 81-1. But there's obviously going to be a big regression here. The best they've shot in the last 5 years is 10.4% they're way over 14% right now. They've always been a strong defensive team but they're offense is just on a hot streak.
Backup of the backup: you forget about Swayman
First round babyyy!
Now they defeated the Rangers and broke their own record… Looks like three more hard hitters before they get a break. Go Jets go!!
It’s great that people are excited but I feel like everyone knows that none of this really matters once May and June roll around
I wish them well, but unfortunately it didn't end well for the Senators when they set the record. The New Jets need to channel the WHA Jets where they were 3 Time AVCO Cup champions! Haven't managed to make it deep since losing the Conference Final to the Knights in 2017/18. The Arena Chirps in Winnipeg are awesome!
Whoo Raa JETS all the way. Blue too 75+🍁 hunter Winterpeger 👍👍👍👍
It’s great that
And we just recently lost to Florida, and whooped them back to the stone age in the second game. I have a good feeling about this year...
Since Wheeler and Trouba left, no offence, loved them both, but Winnipeg seem to have really come together and gelled extremely tight as a team since… sometimes a change is worth the change
Add another W over the Rangers. GO JETS GO!
Didn’t Helly get a record for most minutes without a goal?
Yah he did yesterday, he's got the record for the franchise as of yesterday.
Don’t you remember during game one when they said “use your back up” or “ pull the goalie “ to the avalanche that didn’t turn out very well for them did it?the fans get cocky. Basically got swept after game one. 😅
There were injuries to multiple players at the start of playoffs, including our captain. They didn't broadcast it at all but Lowry had a blue hand/arm at the end of the playoffs and he couldn't use his dominant arm but he still played as best as he could. Literally was playing bandaged up for the playoffs and he's our strongest player and our biggest play driver when it's playoffs time. And that's been the case for multiple years. He was engaged in fights in 2 games in a row to end the season and it damaged his hand. So we don't want him fighting as much anymore. Dillon also went down injured and was gone for several games.
no we will see after the christmas brake thats when i watch my jets play
I will say that you're missing out if you're not watching the games now. I've been to 3 games this season already and the atmosphere is absolutely electric in there! And the rest I watch at home, I'm blown away by what these boys and their coaches are doing.
As a jets fan im not overly excited about this, i mean of course its great bragging rights but we have seen this before from our team, fly out to a 1st place start and build a ton of points, then the 2nd half of the season they play mediocre and get to the playoffs where they have no business being there. This is the exact same lineup from last year so if they are still playing like this at the end of Jan then ill be convinced, but im not holding my breathe and prepared to be let down again
Such a dumb take man, they're killing the league and you still cant believe.
Depth wise the Jets probably have the best 4 lines in the NHL. Everyone wants to be there and has bought in. Very good culture and that matters. I'm a Wings fan for 30 years (before we won anything) and have always followed the Jets. Last year Hellybuck was overused he played almost 70 games and was gassed by the time the playoffs rolled around. You'd much rather be in the hunt every year than going through long spells of losing and playoff droughts like most other teams in Canada.
@@jgibbles they didnt get the rep of being frauds for nothing, the same pattern for 3 years now, wait until the all star break then they are a different team, look up the stats yourself

Good team but, I think they’ll be decent in the playoffs. No deep run tbh
They could be. But waiting for playoffs
Hopefully, they break records, and my Avs beat them in the playoffs.
I watched the game the boys played vs the Avs on Thursday and while Helle bailed the team out on that game, I have to say that the Avs were doing absolutely everything possible to beat Helle, they looked like the team that beat my Jets in the playoffs but this time they couldn't solve Helle. Coach of Avs even said he was impressed with what we were doing. That was high praise, I thought.
@phyllis5256 No one expected it, but you all are playing amazing. Hope they keep it up.
very happy for them and cool record but get out of the first round and then we will get interested.
Tiffoli and monahan were mistakes. Good start yes but a deep playoff run would shock me.
I thought Monny did great with Ehlers, they played together well while he was here and he was also our best faceoff guy, which is important for playoffs etc.
If you look at how they're winning games, no two games look alike.... and... if they lose? They get angry and take it out on the next team they play. Every game features different players who are scoring the winning goals. It's not reliant on one or two players. Everybody does their part. That's why I believe it's sustainable for 82 games and the post season.
first, love your vids
Thank you very much!
