Great hike Taylor! In the mid seventies a friend and I made a couple trips over there from Maine. On Memorial Day we skiied Tuckerman's Ravine and there was still almost 20 feet of snow.It was EPIC! The year before we went over and rode our bikes (we used to race) up the Auto Road. We got to about 4500' and the clouds were so thick we couldn't see and had to abandon. There were no guard rails, just a boulder every 20 feet or so, and a sheer drop beyond. A bit sketchy. On the descent we had to stop every mile or so because riding the brakes caused the glue holding on our tires to melt and they would start to roll off the rim. Been following you since the beginning, thanks for the memories. Gib

Did this loop (in reverse) on May 25th and 26th. Went up Tuckerman Ravine to Boott Spurr, then up Washington. Over Clay, Jefferson, and Adams. Spring Hut was closed but camped just outside of it. It was over 15 miles and about 7,000ft of elevation on that first day. Finished the next morning in just a few hours. Yes, it was a tough hike. Brutal terrain for most of the way, and the Boott Spur route at the beginning may not have been the best idea. Still, we really enjoyed this loop.

Though you couldn't see it, by the sound of it. you must have caught the early morning steam engine run of the Cog. I loved your line about NH not usually having switchbacks. I had mentioned that in a few of my videos. I have found that the Balknaps have a lot more switchbacks than the Whites. Gulfside Trail from Mt. Wash. to Mt. Jefferson is gorgeous. Some day, I will attempt a hike from Madison Springs to Mt. Wash. and back.

And secondly, the squirrels at the beginning of your hike..... dunno if they were fighting or mating but anyhow a second of surprise for me!!
I have a question for you since your clearly a reference for hiking in the whites.... what do you use to check the weather before a hike up there? apps or internet site ? I will spend 4 days hiking the summits around Lincoln nextJuly and I want to have a clear idea about the weather. Thank you so much for the great content that you put out in each of your videos. Cheers from Canada!

The human brain is so weird! Your moose sighting reminds me of a deer sighting I had earlier this spring at home. Out of nowhere, the thought struck me, "I'm going to see a deer today." Only minutes later, three deer ran across my front yard. It's not entirely unheard of for deer to cross my yard, but it happens infrequently enough that I legit wondered whether I summoned them somehow. Let's just say I'm going to try reeeeeeeally hard not to think about bears next time I'm out camping... 😂

Well now Taylor, did you just use the f word? Sometimes those responses (unedited) are the best. I won't hold it against you. I have used the f word myself a few times in response to moose encounters. When my own daughters were in high school twenty years ago, I wouldn't let them drive after dark on account of moose. Anyway Taylor, your videos are great.
