  • Hiking and backpacking the Presidential Traverse in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and climbing Mt. Washington as well as Mount Isolation the most remote 4000 foot peak of the 48.
    In June of 2021 Dan, Jon and I were looking to hike the Presidential Traverse in NH. Being from NYC we wanted to make the most of our time up there so we devised our own route. The most basic and frequent version of the Presidential traverse goes North to South, starting at the Appalachia Trailhead and ending at the Crawford Path Trailhead. This is the most popular route for single day Presidential Traverse hikers. We, however, would go south to north starting at the Webster Cliffs Trailhead and ending at Pinkham Notch. Essentially we would be hiking the section of the AT that crosses the Presidential Range while also taking a detour to climb Mount Isolation, the most remote 4k peak in the Whites. The basic peaks along the traverse are Pierce, Eisenhower, Monroe, Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and Madison. On our trip we would tack on both Isolation as well as Jackson, a side peak of the Presidential Traverse not required as it isn't named after a President. Nonetheless the plan was to summit nine 4k peaks along our trip.

    awesome vid man, its hard to find channels which focus on New England hiking. I'm really liking the title cards between each day, seems like you've stared to find a unique style for your editing, looking forward to many more vids, I'll be sure to turn alerts on.

      Thanks for tuning in to the live premiere! We're adventuring all over the US and Europe now but the Northeast will always be home. :)

    This was awesome. Great videography without a lot of unnecessary commentary. This was pretty much ASMR for hikers. And I'm not sure if you just didn't run across a lot of other hikers or if you did a good job of keeping them out of our footage but this looked like a great great trip!

    This was such a well put-together video. This brings back memories of when my dad brought my brother and I on our first backpacking trip. We stayed in Mizpah Springs and Lake of the Clouds huts, summited Washington, and left down Tuckerman's Ravine. Washington is known for its severe weather, but just like you guys, when we summited it was a beautiful cloudless day. It's really an otherworldly landscape - the alpine zone is so different from anything else you find in the northeast. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.

    congratulations for surviving the White Mountains. I have done parts of it but no where as close to what you guys did. adding the camping along the way made it even more challenging. and the video captures the exhilaration as well as the challenges along the way. as you said, it is "Epic" and it was.

    Been looking forward to this one and what a payoff! Can't believe how lucky you guys got with the weather; more often than not all of the prezis are totally socked in with clouds and rain, with direct sunlight only reaching Mt. Washington 1/3 of the days in a year. Four days of sun in a row is rare! Those shots coming down Osgood ridge were unreal. Keep em coming!

      Thank you! We set aside a week of time from work to find the best time to hike. Luckily the best weather happened to lineup in a row the way that it did. The last day was honestly awesome having the clouds socked in and then burn off as we hiked down Osgood. Will probably never have such good weather like that on another hike in the Whites.
      Thanks again for the kind words!

    Couple things I wanted to say. I spent the day working from home after returning from the ADKs and watched all your vids. I was sad when I realized there were none left haha. Love the Adult Swim style interludes! Also really liked the outros on the other vids. Great band tee’s and loved how you reviewed your gear. Felt the needle drop vibes! Also loved how you narrated throughout the video. Brought a warm wholesome Joe Pera feeling to my day. I hope to see more from you. Original, wholesome and relaxing. ❤️

      This comment made my day. The Joe Pera reference isn't the first time I've heard it haha. Thanks for the kind words. Hoping to get some more videos out soon.

    So glad you completed this video. I have been checking in from time to time hoping it would come out. Great work! I did the Presidential Traverse in 2019 and it brought back some good memories from a well presented and relatable perspective. Except I didnt hit Jackson and Isolation, so those are still on my list! What time of year was this?

    I just would like to say .. I also really like how you named all the floral, mushrooms, and butterflies. Did you know all them ? Or did you take the time to research them ... Once again very good job on the vidieos. Your videos inspired me to start hiking ... Thank you

      Thank you! Lowest temperature was around 28-29 degrees our first night. Temperatures during the day maxed out around 70 on our third day of hiking.

    How did u get a shuttle is it free ?

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We booked a private shuttle. We were on a specific time schedule and opted to spend the money. However there are shuttles run by NH that you can take that cost much less than what we paid.
