    In this video, I set out to hike the entire 12 mile Belknap Range Trail in New Hampshire. This travel goes from Gunstock Mountain to Mt. Major and traverses across 8 peaks in the Belknap Range. I decided to stay local for this hiking adventure because the recent snowstorm dumped up to 2 feet of snow and hiking in the White Mountains seemed a little too ambitious for me.

    It's great to go out there with a goal. But it's important to keep evaluating our safety, how we are feeling, and whether or not we are enjoying ourselves. Some days we'll crush it, and some days we'll turn around earlier than planned and get home to have dinner with friends. It's all good, and I appreciate your realness in showing us both.

    Heck yeah, that's a win, Taylor! 7 miles of mountain snow-shoeing has to be comparable to like 15 of hiking. 💪 You turned around for all the right reasons. Enjoy dinnah with friends! ✌️

    I wonder what the skiers think when they see a hiker come out of the woods. This was a "win" hike and doi g something new for you and us. You did 7 1/2 tough miles of breaking trail. You always hike smart and safe, and that is a greatblesson for all. If you didn't take the shorter yrail, you wouldn't have been able to meet your friends for dinner, sooooo, it was definitely a great and successful day. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad the snow shoes worked for you. Love the videos. 😊

    Full-time training for AT 2024 has begun for me, and this makes me feel great because i was just there trying to do the same thing! The three miles I did nearly killed me. The snow was so deep and slushy that I might as well have been marching for the troops. It took about three hours just to go that far with proper gear. Hearing the ice sheets over rockfaces crack underneath me was terrifying. Maybe for Christmas next year I will ask for crampons lol. As always loved this!!! :)

    that storm, right?🤣 we only waited all winter for it! Taylor, once you reach the first peak, does the brt follow a ridge line for the most part? that was some tough slogging there, and snowshoes yes, make it better, and yes, make it harder--for me anyways. wet snow and gravity, hmm, not fun. the trail looks really pretty! thanks for bringing us along

    Never using snow shoes I soulfully imagine they require more energy & emphasize different legs muscle & technique over walking without them. Do you use your calf & upper thigh muscle groups more? You seem to step higher & is your stride less in length? 7 plus miles in the conditions shown is a winner in my book plus great conversation starter for dinner out with friends; “ what have you been up to lately “? Was the light blue jacket a rain jacket or a special winter hiking jacket? I do enjoy your vlogs. ❤😊

  • @BisOutside
    @BisOutside 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did gunstuck make you have a uphill pass? As far as I knew, we need a uphill pass to hike that side of gunstock in the winter. Is that not correct ?

    • @TaylortheNahamshaHiker
      @TaylortheNahamshaHiker  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't need an uphill pass, I didn't actually hike on any of the ski trails

    The reason why you have problems with your snowshoes falling off is you’re using inappropriate winter footwear. Just an observation from a long term outdoor retail employee and a professional mountain guide. Good decision making for altering your plans. Which you’ve always done.

    I think the real key is being safe. Modeling safe decisions in winter hiking is key - way too many stories of deaths in the whites are clearly people making poor decisions while winter hiking, as opposed to bad luck.
