    Merkur 34HD still one of my favourite DE razor. It was my second DE Razor. I love it with feather blades. I get a lot of shaving knowledge from Paul's video.

      I find that in my merkur 34c, one side of the blade protrudes out slightly farther than the other side. Is this just my razor? Or is this a trait of many safety razors?

    Paul many thanks as always, just got home from a parents evening and watching the Wednesday shave with a beer before bed. Please don't let the dislikes prevent His Lordship making the odd appearance, most of us love it as you can see from the comments. Great shave Paul, ahhhh yes, all favourites used there excepting the blade The Wilko 'blue' stick is a champ. I'm surprised that Personna 'red' didn't go a little better than it did . I guess using more water gave you less resistance. I tend to avoid going too dry and keep the face lather wet enough to aid slickness while suppressing frothiness.

    Very nice Paul, I'm glad you don't talk about shooting peasants 😌👏
    I've become a big fan of the Personna reds, all your doing, I reach for them before the blues now.
    As a face & head shaver, I've never felt like trying a shave stick (used to think you'd have to rub it on your head 😂), but I might give that one a go, it looks good 😌
    I'm one of those "wet" people, but I've never thought a thicker lather might adversely effect a shave, I thought it was just personal choice.
    Beautiful roses as always from your good lady 😌👏💐

    Good morning from Austria Paul!
    Great shave as always! I have to say you are absolutely right, that expensive products do not guarantee a good shave.
    I usually stick to the Proraso white series (pre shave cream, shaving soap and after shave balm). Lately I used TooBS Almond shaving soap and had a great shave as well. Today I shaved with my new Valobra hard soap Fourgere. Great scent that matches my Quorum Silver Edt quite nicely.
    Although I was able to produce a creamy, thick lather on my face (on proraso white pre shave cream) it did not feel as comfortable as I expected it. I have to admit I am not used to the soap, it was the 4th shave for my Astra Superior Platinum Blade in my EJ DE89 and I had two days of facial hair growth. I get better shaves when I only shave every third day, especially on my neck.
    I was not confident enough to go for pickups so the shave is not as close as the ones with my standard gear are.
    I still used the Proraso preshave cream and after shave balm.
    Even though I have found my ever working setup with Astra SP, EJ89 and all Proraso White stuff, I can't help but buy new blades and soap to try out. It is still the most fun part of wet shaving to explore new scents, products and also variate the mix of pre-, shave and after shave products I already own.
    Your videos are a main part of enjoying to shave so much and making me buy new stuff so please feel guilty for my inevitable bankruptcy ^^

    Yeah, thanks again for all of your good advice on de shaving. I feel a bit dumb asking some of my questions, but i guess it's a bit different. Ive noticed with the darby blades, for some reason, they seem to do bette after the first shave, up through about number 4 or 5. Maybe it's too sharp just out of package?? Have you experienced that? I only have the Edwin jagar

    • @PaulHFilms
      @PaulHFilms  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this happens with a lot of blades, they get to there "peak" after one or more shaves, it is a case really that the blade suits your skin better, so it then feels better for you after the second or third etc shave....hope you have many great shaves.....Paul.

    Nice to see you again, Paul. In norman shaving mode.)) I think dislikes down last video is not bad. It's a compliment to you. Not that people don't like His Lordship. Just you they like more. I really like it when you use the blue soap Wilkinson. Blue beard looks fabulous. And by the way you can sing well. I hope you ever try to sing karaoke. For the girls, is useful to know how to make a lather and shave too. Lady shave, too, but not the face, and other parts of the body. This is normal.)) In my opinion the face is not so difficult to shave. The neck is more difficult to shave. The easiest way to shave arms, legs, head, face. From the simple to the difficult in such a sequence. The most difficult to shave the armpits and the region biikini. Lemon Witch Hazel is back, with is good.

    Wilkinson stick is excellent! I pretty much use sticks exclusively. I also love Tabac and Speick sticks. Valobra stick is over-priced and overrated.
    And I agree: blades need to be matched to your razor! My recently acquired Wolfman OC doesn't like my Feather blades so much, which is too bad: a nice blade that's cheap here in Bangkok.
    Enjoyable video as always, my man. A nice break on a rainy Bangkok afternoon.
    Cheers!

    Looks like you had a great shave Paul. I too had an outstanding shave today using Geo Trumpers Limes shave cream, a Simpsons Synthetic Chubby 2, and a Feather ASD2 with a Feather blade. hi paul i am having trouble getting a thick and lasting lather with erasmic shave stick any tips

    • @PaulHFilms
      @PaulHFilms  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try soaking the soap before the shave in warm water, drain it, also soak the brush, both only need about ten mins....it should bloom into a nice thick lather then, and the longer you lather the better it gets, good luck.....Paul.

    • @PaulHFilms
      @PaulHFilms  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also James, as your using a shaving stick, try wetting the face with warm water, then rub the shave stick around your beard, then lather up from the soap stick aswell, this should give you a good result too....the other method I told you is mainly for the shaving soaps (pucks). The longer you lather your face the thicker it should get...Paul.

    Hello Paul I am a newbie with safety razor and for the first time a started to using the Qshave ( Merkur Futur replica ), and I had a bad cut in my face. @@PaulHFilms thank you always for your precious suggestion about the Merkur 34c HD . I had a nice pleasant shave this morning and in comparison with the Qshave ( Merkur Futur replica ) the 34c it was very gentle with my sensitive skin.... I can't forget the Qshave I have a small scar in my face caused by that razor.

    West Coast Shaving in the U.S. appears to offer this stick online for US$6,00/50gm, or about US$3.43/oz, which is a little high. (But, then again, where else can one find shaving soap that's BLUE! I mean, really!) The sticks do appear to have disappeared from Ebay. For someone on the U.S. east coast, one has to order Palmolive stick from Britian, and Wilkinson Stick from the Pacific coast, which at times can seem a little strange, particularly since both sticks appear to be manufactured in Germany. (O brave new world.) Anyway, thank you again for the videos, which were, and are, much appreciated.

    Hi Paul,
    As a mail carrier, have you ever delivered a package that you knew was from shaving shop or soap maker from the return address thinking "boy is he going to be happy when he gets home"?

    First pass the lather looked a little “pastey” like it could use a little more water. But thats just my opinion.

    talking things out and arguing with oneself self is a personality trait. INTJ's and ENFJ's are among the myers-briggs self talkers. I test as INTJ. I hope this comment wasn't too heavy haha

    Women do face shave. Rocio of SoSharpDavid shaves her face (th-cam.com/video/IsJe53Hhe7g/w-d-xo.html). Women shave mainly for exfoliation purposes more than hair removal. By the way Paul, count me in as a wet lather shaver (I love a sloppy mess). My lathers are generally a bit wetter than 2nd pass lather was. A short video on your filming setup and production would be quite interesting. Keep up the good work and Happy Shaves!
