This video was such a helpful refresher! It brought back a flood of memories from my childhood when my mother first taught me to knit. Your cast-on method is very easy to follow and I will keep practicing until I can master my tension again. If I recall days gone by accurately - which comes in question now, given my age 😂 - I seem to remember my mom’s cast-on was only a single needle technique. She held the yarn in her left hand in sort of a cat’s cradle formation… Needless to say, I haven’t been able to replicate it! I’ll keep trying! I am a little envious of your wool yarn stash, and how readily available those gorgeous fibers are to you in Wales. Here in US we seem to be very good at running small yarn shops out of business with the huge discount craft stores, which sell majority acrylic yarns. I would have to take a bit of a drive to find a brick-and-mortar shop, and would be prepared to spend around $30 USD (24-ish £ I think?) for a 100g hank. Our best bet is to order online and pay the shipping, but I really miss the opportunity to get to know shopkeepers, spinners, hand-dyers, etc. It’s so impersonal. 😢 It’s one of the reasons I end up using so much acrylic, or settle for acrylic blends.
Ah that’s great! Yes do keep trying 😁there are serval different ways to cast on, I use different ones for different projects. I am very lucky to have amazing and very local wool producers and suppliers and always like to support them where I can. Keep at it ready for lesson 3! 🥰
Thanks so much, super clear video.
Glad you found it useful 🙂
