  • Virtual Reality is the next step in the technological revolution. The ability to detach our presence from our physical bodies will enhance our ability to come together in community.
John grew up in Wisconsin under supervision of hippie parents and eventually found his way to Purdue University. In college he met his soon to be business partner in computer programming class. Following his passion he dropped out of school to program games, and that passion eventually lead to authoring one of the most popular mobile games of all time, Bejeweled. For the next 15 years he headed PopCap games until selling to Electronic Arts in 2013. His next venture is a Virtual Reality startup called Pluto VR.

Spot on predictions of what the future will look like under the influence of V.R. Detaching our presence from our physical selves is an amazing concept.

+Adam Farish been doing that for thousands of years already.. It's called Hallucinogenics. If that's no 'Virtual Reality'

From a Human Resource Managers perspective..imagine no more phone interviews...Tours of college, etc. Even practice with zero latency surgical training? resumes will now show how many certified VR logged hours do you have on your pearson account? amazing

I am overwhelmed by the scope of potential Virtual reality has. In a good way I mean. In 10 years, I think we would live in a very different world.Love it!!!Adventures in consciousness will strip us from our identity wars, biases, xenophobia. Such an amazing thing to look forward to. And OMG the mmo games are going to be just thrilling, I have always wished to be the character I am playing, shoot ice shards and fire bolts from my palms. Its going to feel like mutants!!!! I CANNOT WAIT FOR VR TO GO MAINSTREAM!!!!!!!!

Honestly would be the greatest thing ever if something like that existed. If something even came close to SAO in our world, I doubt it would be in our lifetime sadly.

I dont think you understand what Im trying to say. To literally be able to link our minds to some virtual fantasy world and have all 7 senses in it. I would say thats impossible but if something like that was ever invented it wouldn't be in our lifetime.

My prediction is that after graduation little brother will be an Uber driver looking for a career that isn’t being replaced by software. The daughter will either be a software engineer developing gig-economy apps, or compete against delivery “contractors” to deliver pizza to software engineers developing gig-economy apps.

I would love it if schools were done like this, creating a whole new way of doing school online. I also made a video demonstrating the dangers of Virtual Reality. Its a comedy skit so it isn't really educational!

He says that VR will make our lives better, but doesn't really explain how. Being in a meeting, & being able to look at people sitting virtually near you? That's not really much in itself. That isn't life-changing in itself.

It could revolutionize Skype meetings. You don't have to stare at people's pixelated faces the whole time, or if multiple people are streaming from a single device you don't have to have people be cut off from view. You can also collaborate through a shared virtual whiteboard or monitor which you can open up files in. Granted you can do that with today's technology, but unless you have multiple monitors, you will only be able to do one of these things at a time. With VR, you have multiple things going on in a virtual room, and have a sense of 3D space. With the power of modern graphics cards, you can also have a lot of neat things going on in the background.
NASA is already incorporating VR technology in their training of astronauts. Good applications would require more involvement in design though. The physics and user interfacing is something that has ways to go, but people are already developing haptic gloves, suits, and multidirectional treadmills.

youre all off. the need for new generation to socialize alltogether will diminish and be replaced alltogether w vr experiences. instead of our parents who complained that we spends our on tv as kids we will complain that our kids spend their whole lifetime in VR. humanity is transforming alltogether into vr experiences, quests and friends from mmorpgs, singularity, AI, and the whole matrix basically. coming all to a room near you..

Communication via Google video is pathetic. Cellphones are better at taking photos than handling calls. Email has put privacy back to before the sealed letter (quite a while!). Makes me wonder just how real virtual reality will be and if the little girl will have any clue about how true reality would touch her senses. I get a cardboard taste in my mouth thinking about it.

this guy is full of nonsense. neolithic man only worked on average 3 hours a day. the rest of his time was spent in social activities. farming or the agriculture revolution was the downfall of man. hiearchies were set up as a result of the farming revolution. people lost their individual freedom and life spans started getting shorter and shorter, the work more arduous. nobody in history ever joined civvilization i.e. the ag revolution by choice. we were all forced into it. at least those of us who didn't perish trying to resist it.
