Aaron - just wanted to let you know this helped me out with my cam install. I have JWT S2s. The FSM points out the exhaust cams have a dowl pin on the cam face, but the JWT cams are not marked left / right. Took watching this to figure out passenger side cams are slightly longer. Great video!
Great video and very well explained, but are you sure the math is correct on the valve lash? For example, for cylinder 4, using the formula A = (B - C) + D, shouldn't your new shim thickness be (0.25-0.3)+8.123 = 8.073, and not 8.173? Judging by the next video, you did get the tolerances right, so I was just wondering if you had to redo the numbers and make corrections on the buckets needed? I'll probably have this project on my hands in the future, just trying to get a grasp of it all.
Thanks for the video, I just got this infinity 04 G35 from my bro, and all he said was sometimes it shakes when he goes on the freeway over 70 MPH. But otherwise it runs supper great. You're vedio HELPED lot. Because I didn't have a car 🚗 in 20 year's. And I was alright my brain was working. I could read and remember. So I'm becoming a general contractor b . Be safe bro.
Hopefully all goes GOOD I just sold my FBO g35 coupe missing it big time, I would recommend a isr single exit for your new exhaust set up , art pipes Megan y and isr single exit sounds so good also I recommend ADMIN TUNING FOR YOUR NEw TUNE best tuner out there
Tabokingu NA Yea i love the sound. I’m just not a fan of how the stock diffuser still has the cutout for the second tip when you only have one with the ISR. But by far it’s the best sounding one I’ve heard
Dude, when you're done that engine is going to run smoother than melted butter! Good job man. I have an 03' 350z 63K miles on it. She still runs pretty good. Not looking fwd to doing this type of work on her. Well keep the vids coming ! Peace!
@@AaronNewman Thank God! LOL... Hey I also have a 1995 Maxima SE Manual , 147K mi LOL... Hey it still runs pretty good. 3.0 VQ30 engine. It has 2007 G35 18'' rims on it. SRS racing exhaust , high flow cat, and slotted rotors. Engine is stock with a Stillen High air intake.
@@lowceez2 I had a rare 3rd gen Maxima SE. It was a manual and it also had a limited slip front differential. I lowered it 1.8 inches in the front and 1.5 in the back. Think they were Sprint lowering springs, then I had some performance struts, sway bars and front & rear strut bars. So that car handled like it was on rails. Combined with that fwd limited slip. It had grip for days on turns, it had so much grip that it would tend to over steer. Especially if I was taking a corner at high speed and dropped a gear at wot. I had to be in total control or the steering wheel would buck. It also had at the time a custom prototype y pipe from Megan Racing, hi flow cats, and a magnaflow cat back exhaust. So it was loud af, definitely the loudest car I've ever had. I owned a 90 300zxTT previously which was the same engine as the 94 Maxima SE which had the VE30DE. It had a timing chain instead of a belt like the VG30DE. My 300zx sounded great it had a custom 3 inch exhaust running a set of dual exhaust. However that Maxima was way louder, a little too loud to be honest. It was definitely unique, but that car introduced me into the possibility of a sedan being a sports car. Which Maxima's actually use the moniker 4DSC. It was fun back in the day, it only pushed maybe 240hp. They were 222hp stock, it was only CaI, and exhaust. Anyways those Maxima's are under rated. The VQ30DE Ive never owned though.
@@nowimhigh Wow! Sounds nice. You had hella' upgrades man. I remember my friend in had a silver 3rd gen Auto/trans and I had the 95' 4th gen M/T. Another friend had a 96' M/T. On the 96' , this guy shaved the door handles off and painted it. Pop out doors alarm, 300ZX brake calipers, Greddy Catback exhaust. I had the Greddy Catback, Stillen High Air intake, Optima Red top Batt. We were rolling clean in Cali! Washed and waxed up all day LOL. Bro, I still have my 95' Maxima. I drive it to work everyday. I'm at about 149K now. I just changed the power steering pump with an OE Hitashi brand pump with new belts. That was a tough job but I did it and now I know how its done. Man I wish I would of pulled the trigger, on buying a 300ZX twin turbo. That would of been dope! Those 300ZX's are still HOT!
Awesome video bro you always have awesome content. Question though did you leave the stock valave springs or did you go with the upgraded JWT valve spring set?
This video is the meat n potatoes for VQ rebuild. Shout out to your buddy for putting new cam suction on his face lol im sure you'll get extra whp just for that 😏
No, but it'd make it easier though. At least take out the radiator for more clearance. You'll have to take the plenum off and the timing cover. So you can remove the timing chain and components in the way. You might as well change the timing chain, water pump and the tensioners as well while they are right there.
I think I was drinking to much. But all I did was soak my feet in hydrogen peroxide water and my brain started working. But you're vedio save me. I can do anything in the 🚗. I just hate it. But what else do we have to do. Make flying car's. They have them already. Even a man made UFO. And it books at the speed of light. It's on you tube. Merry Christmas 🎄🎄⛄⛄ bro.
Any ideas what can be making my car shake at 70 MPH. I change the Rear axle and all brakes, and the shokabsorvers, because the car just hit the 200 thousand miles mark. But runs like a champ. Brand new . Any ideas would be really appreciated.
On my truck i had a idler arm go bad it made it shake at high speeds idk bout the gs but if it has idler arm or steering arms id just check everything suspension wise
It could be a lot of things actually. It could be as simple as the tires needing balanced, a wheel hub bearing, tie rods, ball joints, etc. I'd have to drive the car to get a better grasp on how bad it's shaking to be honest. Even with shot bushings the car won't shake. My bushings are beyond gone, it just makes the ride rough when going over bumps as it doesn't absorb them as well as it should anymore. A bad wheel bearing would be more of a grinding sound. A bad ball joint however could definitely cause it to shake. Also check the brake pads for a stuck piston. This just happened to me, it's actually common and especially on older model G35s. With mine it was the rear caliper piston sticking. It didn't shake the wheel, just the whole car would shake and make this weird noise similar to when you have a flat tire! You'll also noticed a drop in miles per gallon as well. It was an easy fix, I just rebuilt the caliper myself. But you can get a new one for 35 bucks after u turn in the core. I'd say it's either a ball joint or stuck piston in the brake caliper.
Hey I know this videos been out for a year but my 350 leaks oil right where the valve cover and the back of the timing chain meet. Do you know how I’d fix that
@@AaronNewman it’s not those cause I just replaced them but it’s straight down from there where the timing and valve covers meet and it makes like a v snap

i hate the way the ISR looks but its by far the best sounding exhaust for the g35

Are the hats in the blown moter g35 in spec? I mean I know it would take some time to get them out but it would be cheaper then buying new ones.
I didnt even think of that!!

Will you also be putting the cams in the turbo motor

On the inside of the buckets there is a number that will tell you what size it is. You can grab the hats from the other motor. What i did hehe.

And he is gonna show you how it can be done using common hand tools~
Aaron Newman idk it takes a genius to learn and do it better than the ones he learned from. You got the best VQ videos out here
Hi question. Why did you changed all cams? Was it bent?
Is it possible to do it without pulling the engine?

It hurt my soul to see you sand those bearings and leave all the debri behind on top

What lift are those cams?
Lift is 11.43mm on intake and exhaust

Do you need a tune if you throw in aftermarket cams?
Yes, rough idle can be a symptom
