You’re right about the feeling of TDU, it is a little too racing focused, rather than the lifestyle/car enthusiasts feeling…. I miss the feeling that you can go buy a slower/convertible variant just because you want to, not because you needed the most competition oriented car to advance to next tier of vehicles. Don’t get me wrong, still love the series, and the fact we have a new installment, but I miss certain aspects of the original formula that made it so special.

Fan revival projects are great but can be taken down. This industry-wide problem will only continue to get worse and more common, so why defend it? 4:52 This is probably why the PC version is doing so much better than the console versions. They DID have an open beta with the PC Demo that got quite a lot of players. But they didn't do the same for consoles.
Played the pc demo, we had all the exact same issues with the servers. Came to the launch. All the same issues was there. Not to mention most of us had to restart steam multiple times to even get the download started. Come to now, the servers on of seem stable but yet that’s with less than 4k players playing, just think what it’s gonna be like when the rest join in. It’s gonna go back to the 5th we’re no one could play
almost like you called it. always online will never be the answer. i pre ordered their game expecting to get a finished product at launch. now i wish I hadn’t
I was so VERY close to getting on the hype train for this game and getting the preorder. This game needed another 2 years in the oven if they have shit servers, questionable graphics, and legacy TDU features that aren't in SC
Yall just overreacting to play the new COD or something if you gonna not pick at stuff solar crown is doing wrong. Look at games now a days they all have issues but you still play them….
It definitely doesn’t feel like TDU, they focused too much on those futuristic stuff and that caused the game to lose all the TDU dna and feeling, and of course no real estate or some features that made TDU stand out from the other games as well. They are using TDU name just for a quick cash grab. Nobody will be playing this game in a year or two, no matter if they add Ibiza or real estate, the way they messed up the launch definitely caused irreparable damages to the reputation of the game. They should have spent another 2 years in development and made it an actual TDU successor.
@@kermit74 that's true though but still look at some results off the game and he is not wrong on some things like the beta player are trying to let them see what could be adjust in the game but they don't listen because they think they are right and above every one else, but still asking for help ???
To be fair, the online servers in tdu2 were also quite bad. Especially in freeroam with friends. It would just randomly change servers, and you gotta spend about 15 minutes just to connect with your friends again. But guess what, if you play solo, the game was, and still is perfect. Because it doesn't require a internet connection!
There needs to be a law for developers, can't release a game that isn't ready, with bugs, as the consumers pay for a finished product. In doing so, you are essentially committing fraud.
I second this. Most (if not all) racing games that have released recently are absolute bs, due to the bugs, glitches and "always online" idea that has sprung through every giant game company's mind.
I like this idea but how would the law be enforced? Companies essentially wouldn't want to release games at that point because they would be afraid of being sued for fraud. I think the right approach is to make a consumer protection law that forces these companies to give full refunds in cases like this.
@@shaunwheldon190Also full refund for undisclosed server shutdown for always online games. Always online games should not be sold, they should be categorized as subscribtions. You dealt the contract beforehand, say, two years, then you oay the amount for that term, say $69.99 That's it. When the server unevitably shut down in two years time, nobody is frauded.
13:53 I wouldn't feel bad at all. At the end of the day its their fault for releasing a game that wasn't ready. You're just speaking the truth. If the game had a good release, then you wouldn't be saying these things. If what you say is true about them not giving you a code, then i wouldn't worry about it. If they want to be sour about it, let them. For me personally, someone who played the game since the very beginning (2006) i am annoyed. I thought they learned the lesson from tdu2, but they clearly didn't. I won't be playing their game until it is fixed, and i certainly won't be excited for any other game from them in the future.
Ikr every vid i see people already have super cars...where is the lifestyle the normal focuse on lifestyle and shit. Tdu2 driving wasnt perfect but the game for me was. Alone that you see so many Audis and Raptors in fuking NPC traffic HongKong is also dumb
The comment about "getting Test Drive wrong" irks me so badly because I want this game to be good so so SOOOO badly but it just isn't "Test Drive Unlimited", its just a racing game with a Test Drive label slapped on haphazardly. I really hope with genuinely my whole heart that Nacon and KT bring this back to the workshop and give us a real, REAL Test Drive Unlimited game, not an experience or a poorly made imitation, a game!
Exactly! A Test Drive game with just ONE central ‘hotel’, a garage menu system where you have infinite cars and just pick some to display? No, test drive was never about being a generic racing game or like forza with a thousand cars in a menu you dont care about. It was about dissapearing into a rich person fantasy, having to buy a house to have more garage space if you want more cars, having limited space so each car is special to you. Having an actual cast of characters you liked or disliked etc. All of it, this is just a generiv game.
same shit rockstar did back than. gta was with every part more and more realistic. as soon as rockstar found out more kids are playing their game, we got the goofy ass arcade driving in gta 5, so even the dumbest ones can drive...
@@1MCSHonestly GTAVs car physics was in line with 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. As much as I enjoy GTAIV, that car handling would be way more manageable if the third person camera wasn't so screwy and unruly. You can blame kids all you want, but most people prefer the arcade feel.
@@DV-ou1yuGTA IV and Red dead redemption 1 had better physics all around than GTAV. RDR 2 was better though. I know we are on about driving but just generally I think they had better physics
The fact that you cant even buy a house in this game just goes to show how far away this game is from Test Drive. This game should just be called Solar Crown. I was so pumped for them to make a new Test Drive game, then they go ahead and ruin it.. Also only 8 people max on the server youre on.... 8 people?? Thats not even Online at that point what a joke.
In my experience it was just number of runs. 4 or 5 runs and then they start halving xp & money gains upon each completion. It functionally makes getting any of the endgame cars impossible with the current credit structure because races only have like ~100K worth of money behind them before it you deplete them.
The power is in our hands as players. All we need to do is when a always on game comes out. Don't buy it until the live game option is disabled. We all do that and they will stop the nonsense.

the last point about Test Drive being a car game hits the most. so far, setting aside the server issues. that really is all there is to do right now, race repeat. there is no social aspect, the meetup points are literally pointless. idk maybe when the servers are fixed it can be more of a "car" game but at the moment its just another forza
yeah that's hitting the nail right on the head. A feature that's not really mentioned in reviews of this game(as i've seen so far) is the tachometer. in the original TDU's you had different tacho's for every car/manufacturer, it kind of gave a special vibe about driving around in 3rd person view.
i still would say the crew motorfest is a more car game than tdusc because you have a variety of events and activities that are not all racing you can win any race in any car because the game lets you do what ever race with whatever car class and the ai change the class depending on perf level and car class you pick also theres collectables which is cool would be nice to get barn finds or scrap pieces that make a car
Heard this from the Xbox homies too. Dude, people in the community saying all of us should expect this and shouldn’t be complaining. Yo, how the ef else are we going to communicate problems and hold them accountable? I am not buying this game until they fix enough sh*t for everyone AND they get crossplay and the option to at least race homies in another region.
It's funny to me that all of this could've been avoided with an offline mode...which people asked for and warned them about their concerns. But that damn thing is so important to them that they rather ignore all of that and go along with it - "just let it happen, they are gonna like it". Well, turns out it didn't and they managed to ruin the release of something that was almost a guaranteed success. It's not a new franchise, you don't have to convince anyone how special your product is, Test Drive is a very unique franchise and something people were eagerly waiting for. All they had to do, was listen to their freaking players, but of course, that's the most difficult thing to do nowadays, isn't it? Now, don't get me wrong, when I say it was a guaranteed success I didn't mean to say that the offline mode was the only thing that mattered here, but I'm pretty sure that most people would be more forgiving for some mistakes that are normally criticized in other franchises from the genre because it's a fan favorite, returning franchise. "Yeah, maybe the car list could be better, the graphics are far from the best in the market and the engine sounds could be improved, I'm not so sure about the proggression either...but let's give'em time, this is their return and I want them to do better, I believe in them!" I was so ready to have that mindset no matter what because no other racing game offers the features that were included in TDU2. Somehow, they found a way to ruin the thing. It happened many times before, X company does something bad and receives backlash, you take that opportunity to go against that flow and capitalize on it...but instead they followed the damn flow, wtf is your problem?
I’m in the TDU Facebook group and the amount of fanboy gaslighting going on in there is incredible. I can’t believe everyone doesn’t see what the majority of us are seeing. A disappointment at launch. Hopefully they are able to improve things and I will be purchasing at that time. So happy I didn’t preorder.
I'm in the same group as you. I've been saying the game is shit since closed beta. Looks ugly as hell, CarX Street looks so much better. But no, some of them are too blind because of nostalgia and not seeing it at a rational point of view. They can sit in their shitty throne and live in it.
I've been a Test drive unlimited fan since 2006 and was really excited when tdusc was first announced. But it really baffles me how you can't see all these problems and defend this product so fiercely in this state. I realised early on over the last few months that the game unfortunately does not live up to my idea of a proper test drive and so I didn't pre-order it.
Im so happy that i didint pay the stupid amount for early access. Because it turns out its not working anyway LOL I hope by the time the actual release comes it will be fixed :)
ive been playing the game on pc for around 7 hours 5 ish this weekend and when early access launched and only encountered this once on pc never done it again since the first day i played and the graphics look fine too frame rate is good if you use to playing on console like i use to so it doesnt bother me but to me it feels like a strong 60 maybe 120 dip down to 30 at high speeds some times. so idk i guess theres something off with the console ports '- btw running a 2060 and a 6 core amd processor -
I bought a steam key and got the Gold edition and early access for £41 yesterday and I haven't had much of an issue yet, it failed to log in once on the first launch but since then its been fine, for me at least. Also surprisingly plays native 4k max settings, no DLSS absolutely fine. Obviously many people are having an issue though so I must be a unique case.
I think the last time I recall a game launch this disastrous was the SimCity 2013 launch. Like Solar Crown, it was originally made an always Online game and the servers couldn't handle the load of players at launch. There were also many other complications but they did eventually do an offline patch. The damage however, was already done and SimCity 2013 failed spectacularly. This failure also affected The Sims 4, or as it was known a the time, Project Olympus. It was also meant to be an always online game but the SimCity fiasco meant that Olympus was scratched and the devs had to rework it as an offline single player game. And the results are pretty bad and I won't go into detail about it. If anyone does want to know more about it, go look for videos about the launch of Sims 4.
And you can still see Sims 4's bumpy start and development history today. The game is very inferior to its predecessors in terms of both technology and gameplay. Every update and every DLC introduces new and sometimes game-breaking bugs.
The moment i got in the 2nd beta i knew it was gonna be a fucked up game at launch and seeing the stans saying that the game would be perfect at launch and "it´s just a beta bro, they are testing the servers"...much testing such improvements, wow.
6:22 oof, peaking at 3600 during launch weekend is bad. Like, really bad, even for "premium" access. 24 hours peak this weekend for Forza Horizon 4 was 13k players on steam. 16k players for FH5, 3k for NFS Heat. 6 years old, 3 years old and 4 years old games respectively.
How come we had such great new ips, like test drive in the past, with big open worlds, houses, car washes etc, and todays developer struggle with a fraction of the originality and content. TDU:SC is a shell of what test drive was, it's not even close. Just ugly, yes it's ugly, and awfully optimised below average racing game.

Yesterday I tried to buy an Aston Martin Vantage and kept getting an error so I eventually just gave up... Today I logged in and now I somehow have 2 of the exact same Aston Martin Vantage in my collection and my Solar Coins are completely drained. Tremendous...
This is the only TDU Solar Crown video worth watching. I think personally that the game's problems are 55% online only and 45% broken features. The poor car roster having for example, a grand total of two Japanese cars. The abysmal car customization. The lack of the very unheard of feature known as selling the cars you dont want anymore. The herky jerky chase cam. The broken Frame Generation implementation. Honestly i dont know why anyone expeted a quality experience here. When i see KT, i think if the doo doo WRC franchise.
Gosh this is refreshing man seriously. We spend top dollar for incomplete games all the time because none of the preorder soldiers are exposing these games for what they really are. You’re a real one bro!
I'm a player on xbox. You're right, xbox has way less players, I've only seen like a few players driving around and I'm level 30 so I've done a LOT of races and I've only ever had to race with someone online twice. Genuinely there's a good game underneath the bugs. But the fact that its unplayable on the systems with more players is so frustrating. People are rightfully angry. Online races suck so bad and the AI online is WAY worse than it is offline. I get disconnected so often that i just get frustrated and close the game. The fact that its only gonna get worse in 2 days and 5 days time when more players get to join, I'm scared for this games future and i hope other game devs watch these videos and watch this launch and decide always online is NOT the way to go.
I mean when i played the betas on xbox, apparently its a glitch on Xbox that if you go into a public area with voice chat enabled and no microphone/headset, i cant even get the full test drive experience with other players BECAUSE this shit crashes immediately in public spaces until i turn off the voice chat
That open public beta to all platforms could have helped the devs understand the feedback from the community and easily resolve most of the issues at launch
this is gonna be another concord situation, nobody’s gonna play it because they can’t play it then shut down the servers in a week. hopefully they can sort all of this out
I feel like producers told us they didn’t want to do it the old way (TDU 1 & 2) as an excuse to make the game different but now that I’m seeing the final release it looks like they’ve chosen the easy way by scrapping all the good stuff from the previous games to make a soulless and always online mess. What a joke.
I don’t really understand how no one saw this coming. TDU 1 was a great game when it came out, it was a bit buggy and the driving physics were definitely quirky but it tapped into a niche that no other game did at the time. TDU 2 was basically the same game with better graphics, even though I spent a heap of time with it you could see that Eden had no idea what needed improving. Overall it was still very playable but by then it was a dated physics engine and realistically it probably underdelivered. Anyone following Solar Crown from the start could see it was going to be a mess, no gameplay footage until fairly recently and what they did release looked awful. Pretty clear this would be a disaster. And again they’ve proved that they have no idea what their game did well and poorly. The magic of TDU 1 will never be recaptured unfortunately.
Best thing they could do is extend the actual launch date. Other even bigger game developers have done that too. Fix the issues and then launch the game.
I feel like they've regressed the TDU series DNA, I haven't implemented anything that made the TDU series unique, just car showrooms and nothing else, and I haven't seen such a weak car list in a long time, they didn't even do background music in the car showrooms, details like transporting people home, car washes, houses, separate clothing stores, etc. the game seems empty, apart from races it offers absolutely nothing, but the map is nice.
man.. I was so hyped for this game, I got flash backs of my cousin and I playing TDU2 when he would stay over. this feels like they resurrected my best friend and shot him in the face infront of me
Look, give them credit. Once you're in, the driving, the island and details in the city are great. But the gameplay, features, graphics and overall performance makes it a terrible product. They just need to copy the core fundamentals of TDU1 / 2 and this game would of been a hit. It's really just Forza, just focusing on racing... and that's it.... Such a big shame as TDU1 / 2 are a massive part of my childhood which made me love cars to this day....
This game stutters like crazy on my 3070+5600x, I literally can't play it. It stutters when driving cars at full speed then I give up. I just can't with this game. Also dont forget that their dumbasses made each region have a separate save!!! I cant play in my own region because in the maddness of the server issues in EU!! Cant compare a movie, it will be like you can only watch a dvd after 10 views and thats it. So, in essence, you are allowed to make a game that lasts a couple of months and charge good money for it, who determines when the server is allowed to short down.@jaycasket

It's fascinating how companies are willing to make consistently bad business decisions and proven bad management
Yeah have they not seen other games fail over and over again.
If this continues, a lot of people will stop playing games and these companies will lose money.
Yeah i dont like the AI voice they use. I want the same one back in TDU1. This map looks lifless. All i see is taxis driving around

Change my mind.
Thing is, its not the devs, its the publishers
@@shaunwheldon190Also full refund for undisclosed server shutdown for always online games.
Always online games should not be sold, they should be categorized as subscribtions. You dealt the contract beforehand, say, two years, then you oay the amount for that term, say $69.99
That's it. When the server unevitably shut down in two years time, nobody is frauded.
There is already a fix for this, Don't buy the games, don't pre order. Vote with your money no law enforcement needed

In my experience it was just number of runs. 4 or 5 runs and then they start halving xp & money gains upon each completion. the last point about Test Drive being a car game hits the most. so far, setting aside the server issues. that really is all there is to do right now, race repeat. there is no social aspect, the meetup points are literally pointless. idk maybe when the servers are fixed it can be more of a "car" game but at the moment its just another forza
yeah that's hitting the nail right on the head.

"Yeah, maybe the car list could be better, the graphics are far from the best in the market and the engine sounds could be improved, I'm not so sure about the proggression either...but let's give'em time, this is their return and I want them to do better, I believe in them!"
I was so ready to have that mindset no matter what because no other racing game offers the features that were included in TDU2. Somehow, they found a way to ruin the thing. It happened many times before, X company does something bad and receives backlash, you take that opportunity to go against that flow and capitalize on it...but instead they followed the damn flow, wtf is your problem?

Remember when people said the game would have better performance on launch?
The moment i got in the 2nd beta i knew it was gonna be a fucked up game at launch and seeing the stans saying that the game would be perfect at launch and "it´s just a beta bro, they are testing the servers"...much testing such improvements, wow.

You still have it wrong...TDU is about the *lifestyle THROUGH cars.*

I used a VPN to connect to NA, on NA I progressed and played and now on EU while the servers are OK all my progress isnt synced... THAT IS SO STUPID!?
That's so messed up
Yep I'm playing 3 separate save games just so that I can cruise with friends. It's insane.
It’s a shame. Had been watching the development since it was first announced having considered the original to be perhaps my favorite racing game I’ve played. Not buying this until an offline mode is available. Good thing my 360 still works.
I'm 100% waiting a month or so before i buy it, i love TDU but i'll be honest, after TDU2 and the first few info on TDUSC, then the trailers etc. i was skeptical about it.
im waiting a whole year
I'm waiting for the free playstation plus version.
This game is not worth buying.
More like a year maybe, they won t fix shit in1 month
@@andipajeroking we'll see what the state is in a few days, i dont expect it to be fully fixed after one month but if most of the problems are ironed out then ill get it
@@countinfinity776 i ll wait for a sale, maybe they will optimize the engine as well a bit.
That only if they add social mechanics and some sort of offline mode.
I was doing the drive 250km in a daily driver car mission. At like 200km it reset all the odometers in all my cars and the mission progress was -18km….
That game has potential. It has the cooles map of any current racibg game! But the always online and server issues ruin it!
agree add a shader mod on pc , fix servers and add a bit more activities and this game is awesome
connection timeout when connecting to a race is when your car's PR is higher than di maximum PR set on that race. After you lower your PR you can enter the race no problems
This game is a money grab, not made by enthusiasts who want to make a good game. Just lackies who come in to a 9-5 job and leave again. There's just so much wrong with this it's not funny. No one who actually played a previous TDU game would have produced this garbage.
I could say so much about this, but I'll keep it short.
Major kudos Theo for this!
Thought this was a pyrocynical vide for a moment
Lmfao
I do wonder if he watches Pyro
@@speedyblackman potentially but probably not his thing

This comment section actually talks about the video
SERVER PROBLEM SAME AS TWO MONTHS AGO !!!
Last open beta , I reported login error issue to their official help page , they mark my report as resolved but they never fix the login error !!! As a result , I won't buy this game. I will think about if they offer a offline mode and discount for their half-baked product.
They get used to not listen to the players , they just do what they want to do and no one working on Saturday and Sunday.
I've been so happy for Linkin Park coming back from the dead with the new record, I completely forgot the amount of money I wasted on this game!!! 😂
You so right! 🤣
They havnt come back from the dead they've gone more dead
@@gamesmaster1060 not wasting brain cells on this bro, already did on Solar Crown!! Be happy man, enjoy life !!!Cheers🍻🍻🍻
Hahaha for me is the same, I finally managed to play the game after 14 hours of trying anche the concert of linkin park started jn that moment. At list was epic
@@Pater84Tester tears of absolute joy 🥹🍻
I literally haven't had a single problem, up to level 22 and 11 cars. My friend on the other hand can't leave his hotel room without the game crashing 😂
Launch is rich as it’s still only early access
Launch means everybody can play.
I was thinking the same thing. This game has NOT been released yet so I think all the people complaining need to calm down. Judge the game once it actually comes out. Patience is a Virtue.
@@seanmkinch The game is released. And the servers can't handle it. Cope
@@vtec5862 Uhh No it's not. You're thinking of early access. That is NOT a release.
Finally I didn't bought it too early...
It sucks cause I am really enjoying my self playing it through day after gold launch on steam
I just don’t want people to bury this game man because this game is fun asf like let it live longer I don’t need it to be like Driveclub and I’m on PlayStation we don’t have anything like this on PlayStation bro people destroy games especially smaller developers before they can even get the game working right and I understand that’s unacceptable because it had 3 betas but let this game live I need it I hope they make a offline mode because these people are going to make it die and it’s back to GTA online for me 😭😭😭
@@redhunnid5142 I second this 💪
@@redhunnid5142It s companies fault. If they aren t able to deliver a decent product, they deserve it.
Don t lose hope, maybe they ll move fast and make the right changes.
No man sky is a success and remember the launch ❤
I'm not at all surprised. I don't plan on even giving this a try until it's been out for over a year. If the servers aren't shut down by then.
Exactly my words 😂
Yeah the reflections aren't the best
Gut was telling me that this is gonna fail hard and I was right. Game felt a bit soulless from the start, not really giving us the real Test Drive vibe. It's focused on being an alternative edition of Forza games and now I see we also get Forza online experience from the premiere. Disappointed but not surprised.
Car X street looking really good right now
fr lol
Don’t know if you will see this but the story part the solar crown is player Vs player only no bots and the car prices are something out of GTA online rather than the older test drive unlimited which were closer to their real life prices
Test Drive LIMITED
It's funny that I was able to immediately start playing and jump into races when I initially bought TDU2...
Oh wait....
