      The point of the hamdogger is to be able to eat a hamburger if you happen to only have hotdog buns in the house. It works much better than making the burger and cutting it up for the hot dog bun which I've done a fair amount of times in my life.

      The potato bag you used,you can substitute that with a grocery bag or Ziploc bag. I use either one of those,poke holes in the potatoes,throw some butter in there with it,salt and pepper and let it do its thing. Comes out soft,buttery,seasoned and is absolutely delicious.

    I know this is an older video but for anyone who wants to know why the smores maker or "holder" lol needs water is because its directs a lot of the microwaves to the water so the smores don't over cook. I had one exactly like this one. Worked great.

  • @briandipierro8865

    The reason the potato bag worked was it keeps all the moisture from the potato in. It's stuck in the bag with the potato. That's why the other one was completely dried out and burning. The s'more maker was effective for a different reason though-- the water took in some of those microwaves while keeping moisture in the s'more, and the little hands do help the swelling stay under control. Some of these are actually quite useful and I'm definitely considering at LEAST the potato one.

  • @LoneWolf5841-

    The reason the bag for the potato works is because as the potato cooks water inside it evaporates this was that "snake" sound you heard with the potato outside the bag. The bag is basically capturing the steam which prevents the potato from drying out. It's the same reason why you wrap a potato in tinfoil before baking it in the oven.

    I will say this: some of these seemingly useless or frivolous tools are usually meant for people with physical disabilities that prevent fine motor skills.
    Slicing a banana is fine and easy if you’re completely able-bodied. But if you have Parkinson’s or something and enjoy sliced bananas, it might be really difficult to slice a banana easily and efficiently. That’s where these tools come in.
    However, there usually aren’t enough disabled people to sustain the companies that sell these tools so they market them to everybody and not just the disabled.

    Took me a bit to realize, the water is probably a heat sink of sort for the microwaves so less of the microwave is heating up the marshmallow/graham crackers so they turn out better. Now next time I do one I'll try it with a cup of water to see what happens. Usually make them like he did the plate ones, just without the top piece on (because yeah, it would fall off anyway and it won't get soft that way).

    • @christopherkarr1872
      @christopherkarr1872 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are correct! Have you tried this since you commented, a year ago?
      The water absorbs some of the µwave radiation, reducing the effective power level in the microwave. In modern inverter-style microwaves, you could just reduce the 'power level', but my experience says that most people don't know their own microwaves. The reason you (probably) wouldn't have good results in traditional microwaves is that they vary power level by turning on-off, rather than actually reducing the power; basically, it's PWM.

    7-Elevens in my area sell hamburger log things meant to be eaten in hotdog buns. They may gave cheese mixed in as well. I just buy them and eat them straight up, with the 7-Eleven boneless chicken, when I just want hot, non-jerky meat. They display these burger log things on hot rollers, along with actual hotdogs and creative taquitos. Nice selection.

There are people out there who don’t have the kind of dexterity or strength to hold and use a knife safely and properly, and thus they need devices to assist them to chop up various items that they need in life.

    It’s weird how hard he hated on the banana slicer. And some gadgets and stuff aren’t really made because our world is getting “soft” a lot of things are invented for people with disabilities and the elderly… some of these gadget specifically help those people. Obviously some gadgets are silly, but some literally serve a purpose. And the fact that some people and their lil minds can’t grasp that some people have it harder and need special things to help them do little tasks, is actually crazy to me.

    As a confectioner, i gotta say i kinda see the purpose with the banana slicers(especially he second one) because if you have a large amount of bananas to slice for a cake or something it could be easy and fast to use. Sure you dont need it and a knife would do the job, but you could possibly save some time. Also uniformity when slicing bananas could be another reason why having a slicer is good sometimes.
