I went a couple of times as a kid in the 70s and 80s. There was someone dressed as a cyberman outside the Tardis; as a kid it blew my mind. Once inside down the dark steps, those daleks scared the crap out of me.

This video is great. I went to the Blackpool exhibition about 3 times and loved it. I loved seeing all 7 of the Doctors costumes on one side and the companions costumes on the other. Then further along was the Davros and Daleks section. Loving the classic Doctor who seasons i thought the exhibition was great. I've watched Doctor who since jon Pertwee first played the 3rd Doctor and have never stopped. I'm 61 now and still loving it.

I visited the exhibition in 1985 too. I was a combination of terrified and excited. Absolutely loved it, and one of my earliest Doctor Who memories. Was devastated when I went back to Blackpool in about 1987 and hadn't realised it was gone. Great memories of a time long past.
Edited to add - I was the same age, 5 years old, and I remember exactly the feelings you mentioned - my heart beating out my chest, the darkness as you walked down the stairs. When the Dalek appeared in the console room I literally jumped into my Dad's arms. But I still loved it.

Went there in 1975 when I was 5. All I remember is the 'monsters' in a display behind a bank/console of switches which we were allowed to operate. The daleks were shouting "You must not touch the equipment!" at my cousin and I. Great stuff!

Was Blackpool Cyberman during late 80s and was back in 2008. Also was a Dalek getting changed as Cyberman/Leader was award getting dressed in the back of the shop as had not much space as the Dalek was going round on a train track. Was with Doctor John Feild was doing the Doctor the times...

My parents took me in about 1976 or 77. Unfortunately I have no memory of the exhibition inside, I only remember the entrance to it :( , but even that me be a later memory, as we used to go to Blackpool yearly. I have more memories of the waxworks and zoo. And when I went back to blackpook in my late teens I didn't realize that it had clsoed. Such a shame, so that kicked off my own obsession with collecting, reading and watching everything scifi. I enjoyed my visit to Museum of Modern SciFi in Allendale, Neil (who, I know you've interviewed) has created a brilliant exhibition of props & costumes. Please keep these videos coming, really enjoying the content.

I really wish you would paper publish this brilliant ebook. I went to a printer to get a hard copy and he wanted £65 for a single loose unbound copy. Wow. Also maybe do a sequel for the years it returned to Blackpool....
