Thank you for this video. I have been bleaching and coloring my hair myself for about a year now and your video was super easy to follow and helped me decide on the Redkin EQ shades/toners. I have found my new happy place :) Once you get over your fears of bleach and color, it's not so hard. The Redkin products, by far, are the best on the market. I finally got rid of the red/yellow because of this video. Thank you for helping those of us that simply can't afford the salon anymore. Of course, it would be my preferred choice but current circumstances are what they are. Much appreciated.

I love your videos!! I mistakenly used toner (wella with 20v) all over my hair and it brightened my highlights perfectly BUT it pulled my natural 6/7 root almost orange 😢. I was thinking of using shades eq to do a root shadow or balayage to get my roots back to their natural state.
Seeing none of your highlights visible above though makes me nervous though (you look amazing I’m just looking for more of a balayage). Also you saying blonde can turn green terrifies me too lol
I got my hands on 6N, 9N, 9T, clear, and processing solution. Would it work to paint the 6N/ clear in my roots, and then paint 9N/9T in the middle, and 9T/ clear to the ends and front pieces. Would this blend?

Hey! I love the video and your explanation is so easy and understandable. I was just wondering since I’m about to tone my hair and I’m mixing some colors I was about to mix the crystal clear in it so it can give shine and make the color look just better. I didn’t know that it actually lightens up the color which I don’t really want. Do you think I can still add it and will not make it that much lighter or I can use it as a stand alone treatment with the processing solution after I do the toning?

I really loved this! I'm not a stylist, I am a nail tech but worked in a small full service salon for years and have a huge interest in hair so I always paid attention. I call myself a kitchen-tician :) Anyway, i love doing colour, but am always scared of toner because of a huge accident back when I was just learning about self colouring etc. I looked like queen Elizabeth and I was 27! LOL
Anyhow, you did a great job explaining without being too technical that those who don't know anything about colour wouldn't understand, but also without being too layman... or talking down. Loved this and I am totally a new subbie now.
You mentioned talking about other toners you use for reds and such... yes please!!! I will be waiting very excitedly! You were awesome girl!

Hello!!! My hair level is around 3 as you can see in the pic but I started the process to go blonde. I had already 3 bleach sections in 2 months because I don’t want to damage my hair that much ( I have fine hair)I have the level that I want on my middle length and ends which is around #9 but the top ( no roots) still warm/orange stage I don’t want to bleach more but I don’t like that color either, my hair dresser used level #7a and # 8a to toned but still too warm/orangy she did a balayage and foils but I’m thinking in no comeback and try to do it myself because I haven’t had luck in find a good hair dresser. That’s been said How can I lift my root to a level #6? And the section that still warm/orange can I use a lift color? Or what I can do? And the parts where is blonde already which toners can I use? I’m looking for something no too gray or to gold.
Sorry I know was a long message but I’m hoping you can help me.

yes, thanks daniella, your videos are very informative. how long should you wait from the time you color your hair (permanent) dark brown to apply highlights or balayage? and what should i use? thank you. i would like caramel balayage.

    • @DaniellaBenita
      @DaniellaBenita  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I would wait at least 3 months so most of the color gets rinsed out. It depends on hair dark your hair is but I would suggest doing highlights if you want your hair to lift enough. I love redken flash lift for lightener and I would definitely use some type of bond builder so your hair doesn't become damaged while it's lifting. I really like redken Ph bonder or if you want to spend a little more money olaplex is the best and they sell a travel pack that isn't too expensive! If you want to send me pictures of your hair color currently and also the look you are trying to get too ill help you formulate! Direct message me on my instagram! @DaniellaBenita

    Hi Daniella,
    I need your advice again.
where is the difference in the mix of clear and processing polution?
My hair is much brighter now with many highlights and I want to have a nice gold tone. should I take 09g or rather 07g? the shade shouldn’t be too red but also not too cold blonde.
thanks in advance for your answer😊

Just had a gloss treatment on my salon and want to replicate at home. I am about a 6, golden.. Would you recommend the 1/2 oz 5n + 1/2 oz clear + 1 oz processing solution OR would you just recommend using a 1 oz of 6 and 1 oz of solution ? I guess I am asking which do you think is darker, the 1/2 dilution of 5 vs the 1 full oz of a true 6 ? I am worried about depositing too dark a color ... Thanks, and great video!

Will it cover 100% gray/white root regrowth? If not, can I add a 10 or 20 volume developer? This is for light auburn/copper hair and thinking of using half cayenne, half curry but not sure whether to use a permanent on the roots first. Thank you

When adding the clear for the toner, do you do a 1:1 equal ratio as well as processing solution? So say: 1 oz 9v, 1 oz processing solution, and 1 oz clear? Or would that dilute it too much? Love your videos 😊

This is a great tutorial. I followed your directions and it worked. This is my first time coloring my hair on my own. I do have a few questions though. My natural base is a level 8.5 but I regularly get a full set of foiled highlights so it ends up being around 9. I used 1 ounce 9NB and 1 ounce 9V +2 ounces of the processing solution. I did the roots first then let that sit for about five minutes and then ran it through the rest of my hair for 11 more minutes. Then I rinsed it out because it was starting to look dark in the mirror so I panicked. It actually came out a pretty color, very natural looking. But a bit darker and more "ashy" than I hoped. Also I have some gray around my temples and at the roots and it seems to resist the color. Do you have any tips for how I can better adjust the formula and my method to improve next time? Thanks so much.

This video popped up when I was searching, so a little late lol. Your videos are so helpful! What formula would you use if there is still too much orange after lifting from Level 3 to 8/9 (using Schwarzkopf Blond me). Or would you suggest another round of bleaching first before toning?

Hi!! BEST video out there! Thank you!! Question - I have blonde highlights in my brunette (level 5) hair, maybe about a level 8 in the front and a level 7 in the back. Theyre turning orange and yellow and I want them a bit more blended. Would 7p and 8gb work well together? Thank you!

Hi Daniella, I love your videos. In this time of Coronavirus, we are doing our own hair at home. With my daughters hair, she wants blond highlights but no gold and not silver. I saw where you recommended the Redken 09V and 09NB. Do I use just the 00 cream or a processor too? Also do you think it would be a good color as she is a dirty blond or dark blond naturally. Also, having a hard time finding the 09NB but found 08NB and remember you said if I add more 00 it will lighten a shade? Do I use developer and 00 with the other 2?

When you tone, do you usually do it on wet or dry hair?

    • @DaniellaBenita
      @DaniellaBenita  6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Carroll K you're so welcome!!! And it depends if I want the color to really set in rough dry someone but be very precise about the placement of the color because once the color touches dry hair it sticks! If I put toner on wet hair I'm going to get a much more minimal result. So I'll mostly towel dry all of the water from their hair then I'll take the toner and put it all over. I like to brush it through too just to make sure you get it completely saturated! ❤️

Thank you Daniella for so much info. I am wandering if I can mix the 010 N with 9V and do a full head toner or I have to do the N on top and the 9V on the bottom like you are showing in this video?

If I want to take my medium brown hair ( natural) and lighten it, will the EQ still work? Ive been told that I cannot do this without harsh chemicals.

Kim Mosley you will have to lighten your hair first. EQ does not lift hair, only deposits color/tone!

Should I use the number 2 ph binder before or after I tone? Say I bleach my mid shaft and ends and then bump my roots? Should I apply the blonder next and then tone or vice versa? I just recently discovered you on utube and you are my new Favorite! You explain and simplify things so well, thank you for all of the wisdom you continue to gift us with! Also, I recently purchased the redken binder so should I bump the developer when bleaching like you do with olaplex?

Hi I've used shades eq for 1st time today . Were in the uk . I did a root smudge of 7n and 7p. Then toned ends with 10ml 9v ,10ml 9p and 10ml of clear and 30ml of processing solution But the consistency was different in the ends colour then in the root smudge. It felt more like a gel rather than liquid . Is that normal .the results was fab . But the consistency was really odd compared to the root stretch .Thanks

Can this be used to lighten hair color? I know it doesn’t lift your hair but can you get similar results aka make your hair look a lighter color? This is my first time doing a Demi- permanent and I just want to make sure I do it right.

What can you mix with it if you don't want to use a toner, and use it just as a semi-permanent color? My hair is already lifted.... I like to use semi's to freshen up the color.

Hei, Daniella, I just loved your video. I'm not a hair stylist but I like to experiment a lot:). I have a question: the colour that you tone your roots with, is it amonia free and if yes...and because of this...does it wash out easily in time? I mean if you want to lift your hair again, up higher..to the top of the head, will it work? To lift that brown root? And what colour processor do you use ? Zero lift on both roots and highlights? Thank you so much!

I had a bayalge done on my hair where I had vibrant red added to my asian dark brown hair. Alot of the tutorials here speak to blond hair and fight brassyness there but nothing on the dark brown hair and vibrant red. I would like to gloss to tone it down. Can you do a tutorial on that?

Can you give me advice on what shade to use if my hairdresser is using Chromatics Ultra Rich on roots (5NN 1 oz. and it with 5NA .5 oz? I know that she's mixed the clear with something on the ends but doesn't do this every time I go in for a color so I wanted to do this at home. I like how it looks and hate having to wait cycles for it. Thanks

👋 hi. I use to work in a salon as a teenager as a shampoo tech for a big salon. I got to apply Redken Shades Eq to clients & feel very comfortable with the product. I let my hair go brown although I am a born snow white blonde. My natural hair has turned such a salt and pepper color thats so drab. I kept it highlighted until it was almost all over for a while. I'm tired of the salon visits and ordered redken color eq creme and 10 volume pro-oxide 06na cocoa brown. I loved the mushroom tones in it but it was slightly roo dark and it faded soooo fast. I want to keep the color and only touch up some on roots occasionally. How can I get the mushroom brown color, it last, and not buy 10 different colors

What toner color will give that medium/dark cold blonde effect like Gigi Hadid used to wear? Many many years ago I had some non permanent color from Clairoll all over my blond head. After 20 min it turned out so pretty! Exactly that cold darker blond which made my green/gray eyes popping . Very natural. I look now for a toner which I can use at home. I cant find a Redken Salon in Valencia. Maybe it exists bt I dont know one. I also like to have solutions which I can use at home.

I am confused by using a clear with the 9V to make it lighter to a 10 or a 11. It seems to me that it would dilute the mixture. Please help me understand. By diluting violet it makes it lighter? Thx
