    I don’t understand people who think temperature probes are for wimps. Cooking is science in a lot of ways, especially internal meat temperature. I just got my Meater and I’m eager to try it. Thanks for the overview.

    Hi Angelo, great review.
    I use a thermoter to set up my grill temperature, can the MEATER+ be used in the grill only, I.e. Not in a piece of meat?

  • @MDMiller60
    @MDMiller60 ปีที่แล้ว

    I set everything up (with the plus model, non extended wifi. blue tooth reported on), but when I hit start cook (with the meter in the meat), start cook does not do anything. I had bought a 1 1/4" ribeye steak for my b/d and couldn't even use the meater.
    Any ideas? Meater has not solved my problem yet and they actually closed my support ticket.

    My meater + does not update the temperature readings while cooking. I tried it for the first time yesterday on a steak. I had to cancel my cook and restart it several times to get updated temp readings. This resulted in a overcooked steak. Im thinking about returning it.

    I've always used Thermoworks stuff.
    It's a high end wired probe thats incredibly accurate but yes the wires can be a pain in the ass to deal with and cleaning them sucks as well since you cant submerge the probes.
    Going to give the Meater probes a try......the only problem is if they work great I have around $700 bucks of Thermoworks stuff that'll just sit in the BBQ drawer.

    • @hitmhard
      @hitmhard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AngeloBodetti meater link allows you to access your probe from anywhere. You either need the meater block or another phone or tablet to act as a bridge in order for this to work. I did end up getting it to work. The only thing I had to do basically is have both my phone and tablet connected to wifi and signed into meater cloud. Cool stuff!!

    Great job on the review. Question: why was the ambient temp not showing?

    • @AngeloBodetti

      Hi Chuck, I’ve been using a Meater for 3yrs now, I had the same concern as you, I did some research, the accuracy is
      0.5c +\- . As a test, I used a potato, I set my oven to 120c for 30mins the graph on the app tracked it nicely, I then tested it at 200c (400f)
      I discovered my oven was only reaching 168c (334f) as shown on the graph. The Meater has been a huge help to me to make the necessary adjustments for a good cook. Hope this helps

    Great Review. I've used probes for quite some time and I'm an excellent cook. I've become dependent on probes and even have a Ninja indoor grill with Smart probe and a Ninja air fryer with searing plate (great for fish) that also has a Smart probe - each are programmable similar to the Meater and each deliver perfect food every time. But I also have a smoker with no probe. So I just picked the Meater so that I don't have to "monitor" the smoker contents letting cooler air in and smoke out. You know the drill with low and slow cooks. So people who don't cook with probes are missing out.

    • @AngeloBodetti
      @AngeloBodetti  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I am not. Just a regular dude who got one and loves it. You sure you have the Meater plus? I’ve never had range issues at all. Placement of the wooden box is key. Put the wooden box near the thermometer. The box is what’s talking to your phone, not the thermometer itself. So if you have connection issues, it’s possible the thermometer is too far from the box itself.

    • @davemartinez4143
      @davemartinez4143 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AngeloBodetti no I do not have the meater Plus I have the plain meater. So the location of the box is critical. That was some crucial need-to-know information that neither the directions that came with the unit nor the website explained. I already returned it I don't have time play with it

    The problem with the Meater is that you can't calibrate the thing and it's thick and you have to shove it in the meat deep. Maybe in the future those issues will be resolved and then I'll give it a 2nd try.
