  • With MEATER’s Cook Estimator, you’ll know how long it takes for that steak, chicken, etc. to cook before it’s ready to come off of heat to rest. Here are key points to remember about your estimated cook time to nail those target temps:
    • Let the meat come up to room temperature.
    • The estimated cook time will appear when the internal temperature has increased ~16°F/8°C.
    • Low and slow cooking helps with a more accurate estimated cook time. Plus, you'll get juicier results. ;)
    • Keep a consistent ambient cooking temperature.
    • The estimator does not account for the “stall” when cooking large cuts of meat.
    • Remove from heat when instructed, even if it may seem under target.
    The algorithm takes into account “carryover cooking” during the resting period.
    • Rest on a cool plate, rack, or cutting board and do not wrap.
    If you must wrap, know the algorithm doesn’t account for wrapping, so you may want to set a lower target temperature to avoid overcooking.
