I'm an electrical engineer, and did electromechanical design for a few years. While I'm a HUGE follower of Dr. Fuhrman and the Nutritarian lifestyle that I'm beyond grateful for...the prices for Power Plat products are ridiculous (no reflection on Dr. Fuhrman, to my knowledge he is not a principal in Power Plate). The profit margin on these machines must rival fragrance industry margins lol. In my opinion (suspicion), they're priced so far above the cost as to be prohibitive and a bit silly. They may work, but the markup (price-points) just don't make sense to me. My 2 cents.

Do you think Furhman isn't getting a cut on these? He probably gets a third for his "endorsement". But you're right, there are far cheaper versions, highly-rated too, on Amazon and elsewhere...

    • @GET2222
      @GET2222 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@DDumbrille as an advertising executive and owners of an advertising agency for over 25 years, this is not getting 33%. The company would go bankrupt.
Fitness tools like this are low volume. They are big and commend a huge distribution warehouse, computer chips, code, with stand the abuse of the user and vibration of the machine and perform consistently. Lots of R&D go into this and millions in investment without an initial return. Now you need to market it and get the world to know your product exists. You need a brand, testimonials and an endorsement. Endorsement deals work in a verity of ways, but deals typically go down like this…
High profile: Lebron James with millions of followers. People who don’t play or even like basketball know who he is could possibly command 30%, but the product has to have volume and be a great product. He would not endorse something without damaging his personal brand if it didn’t work, like Michael Jordan.
This doctor is not high profile enough unless this doctor put in his own money. Shark Tank might ask for 33% if they believed in it and the sales volume made sense. This is a niche product. It not mainstream. It’s going to be expensive unless they are selling millions of units YOY. keep in mind, this machine needs to be crated and drop shipped. That is expensive. Computer chips are artificially high right now because of the shortage. It’s not fair to say that this company is making bank, when they could possibly be going bankrupt. Sales, marketing, social, videos, executive teams office space, warehouse space, packaging design and kiting the product for shipping, warehouse managers, product managers, accounting, CEO, COO, CMO…
Engineering a toothbrush and selling it for $100 to $150 and it costs less than $15 to make isn’t fair either. The marketing machine to create the demand can make up 80% of the cost.
So stop. Unless you have brought a product to market, just stop with saying something is over priced. The price is the price for their certain volume they are producing to stay in business.
Peloton doesn’t make that much money on their bikes, it’s the damn subscription for their content where they make money from, not the hardware.

I have a Power Plate and find it extremely beneficial. Found out about it at my ballet studio - increases flexibility and strength. So many benefits and many, many exercises can be done with it. Am 69 and still doing grande jetes, thanks to the Power Plate. Note: I have had this for almost two years and use it perhaps three times a week for 9 - 18 minutes each time.

What about studies done by NASA and professor, *Clinton Rubin,* for maintaining bone, that show that these machines should be low intensity (less than 1g force) and high frequency (30Hz)?
The Power Plate is high intensity. I think it’s about 8g at its lowest setting?
For context, earth 🌎 has a g force of 1. When we walk, the impact to our heel is about 1.2 or so.
Professor Rubin feels these higher intensity devices could cause harm to the body.
BTW, 🔍 online for whole body vibration and the word frequency if you’re looking for an affordable unit that offers 30Hz and less than 1g of force and doesn’t cost 3K (it’s currently 400).

You can improve balance by doing specific exercises that do not have to be performed on Power Plate. You can improve bone density by doing targeted resistance or weight bearing exercises that do not have to be completed using vibration equipment. Of course you can break your hip if you fall forward or fall backwards, so I don’t understand his comment on that. Making claims that people have improved Dexa scan results does not “prove” it is the Power Plate that is making those improvements. Whole Body Vibration has not been shown in research to improve bone density especially in the spine because a “knees bent” stance is required. Whole Body Vibration can also lead to problems if the hertz cycle or amplitude are too strong, creating gravitational force above 2g. Scientific work carried out by Dr Clifton Rubin through his research with NASA has pinpointed the “sweet spot” requirements for use of vibration to increase bone density. If Power Plate uses the calibrations determined by Dr Rubin’s research, then it might have value, but you don’t have to exercise on the machine if that’s the case.

The animals that eat plants don't eat them in a sterile environment. Do you know where b12 comes from? Where do the animals we eat get their protein, vitamins and nutrients? From plants. We mainly eat vegetarian animals. Their flesh contains the nutrients they ate from the plants. It doesn't just show up there out of nowhere.
Dr. Furhman admits you can find studies that are skewed to your own opinion but to me some things are common sense. From your comment seems to me that your bent on finding fault with veganism. I wonder why you would do that. Guilt? I don't know. Best of health to you.

Stefan, I have lost 115 lbs following Dr. Fuhrman’s nutritional advice based on peer reviewed randomized controlled studies and n=multiple thousands of people studied longitudinally. Read his books! Look up the studies yourself. Yes, of course vegans need to have vitamin B12 supplementation. Where did you hear that Dr. Fuhrman had not recommended this. B12 is necessary for healthy neurology and he explains this clearly along with recommendation of omega 3 (algae based). I do believe you are misrepresenting Dr. Fuhrman’s work which had helped so many people like me regain our health and likely extend our lives.

I have a 260 Vivo Wellness vibration plate, oscillating type. I'm wondering if you remember that brand? I can't find any information on it. I don't know what the frequency is on it or G-Force. I'm wondering if it is also effective for bones and cartilage or if it needs a higher frequency to be effective? I heard a doctor talk about a machine needing to be around 30 frequency and I'm not sure if oscillating ones go up that high but he also said it should be low G-Force and I'm not sure how low I would need to turn mine to be the right G-Force or frequency? I'm thinking if you turn it low it might not be a High enough frequency but if you have it high it might be too much g-force, which he thinks can be damaging, I'm not sure. I just want to know if I can still get results? And how high to turn it up?

I am feeling embarrassed for dr fuhrman in regard to this recommendation. I love his nutrition plan and I think his advice regarding eating is perfect for about anyone. But these insane prices for these vibrating platforms are outrageous. I bought a freestanding, random orbit vibrating plate about 3 years ago. It does what it says it will do, it is used daily by myself and my wife and we picked it up from Amazon for a little over $100, actually $114 I think. If I'd wanted a larger one with handrails it was around $300 at that time.
